Delightful Sporty Surprise

2012 Mazda 2 Sport 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl 4A)
This is a year three update and none of my opinions have changed. I've had zero problems. Change the oil and add gas. 30mpg city and 36 hwy. Still fun!

It's been a little over 2 years now since I bought my 2 used. I've been on a few long trips a couple of vacations and a lot of around town. Since the newness has worn off I acknowledge it's not a luxury car, not a sports car, But it is … an adequately appointed, very sporty, econo car. This is actually one of the better handling cars I've owned. It's fun, sure footed, and confidence inspiring. The seating position is near perfect for me. A bit of road noise on the hi-way above 70. All of the time it is comfortable. I'm actually happy that this cars competition has more cargo space, gets a few more mpg's and all similar cars have more horsepower. That is exactly what makes this car such a good deal on the used market. I paid thousands less than my wife did for her Honda Fit that was a year older with more miles. An excellent car indeed but this Mazda2 was 2/3 the price and is better in all respects except interior size. The Fit has an ingenious bigger interior.
