New 2019 Buick Envision

There is good news and bad news. Let's start with the good news. My wife and I visited several car dealers and we liked the salesman we met at Carl Black. John Polk was absolutely professional. We came in thinking we wanted a Chevy Equinox or GMC Terrain and we looked at the specs and amenities of both. He then suggested that we take a look at the Buick Envision. Much nicer appointments than the other two vehicles and when we test drove it the ultra-quiet ride sealed the deal. After completing our due diligence in looking at other dealerships we decided to buy the Buick Envision that John showed us. When we returned to Carl Black John was not there, but Dowain Nemes took us under his arm and we were treated with the same professionalism as John Polk provided to us. We sat down with the sales manager and worked the numbers and got to a number we felt comfortable. From the time we arrived to the time we shook hands with the sales manager was an hour to hour and a half. That is all the good news. Now the bad news. Once we agreed on a price there was only one more step to complete the sale, the finance office. We were seated in a lobby area, handed a remote control to the television and said we would be called "shortly" to see the finance manager. Not clear to us what the Carl Black Finance Office thinks a short time is, but apparently it is more than two hours. Finally I went back to the sales manager and asked if we should come back tomorrow. He did some checking and said we would be seen next. So we waited some more, then Glory to God, we were directed to the Finance Office. Let me say it took us less time to test drive the car, get all our questions answered, and negotiate a fair price with the sales manager than it took to complete the paperwork at the Finance Office and we paid cash. No loan applications, no credit checks, no down payments, just plain old cash. My recommendation is definitely visit Carl Black and work with any of their sales staff. They are first class and definitely know all the details of their cars. If you decide to buy a car order a pizza, soft drinks, and settle in for a long wait to clear through the Finance Office.
