Not Great

I normally don't post reviews because while running a business I have been on the other side more times than I can count. However, what I experienced with Schomp BMW was probably the worst experience in purchasing a new car that I have ever had. Some of it has to do with the quality of the product and the other has to do with how the management team responded to the situation. To start, the Sales and Service teams were amazing. No complaints in working with them. They were friendly, courteous, and seem to empathize with what I was experiencing. The day I took the car off the lot, check engine light came on. Called my sales rep and he asked me to bring the car in to get it reviewed and fixed. Two weeks later, I got the car back. One week after that, engine light came on, yet again. Same as before, waited two weeks to get the car back. I was hoping this was the end of it. One day later, check engine light. At this point, I was incredibly frustrated and concerned that I bought a lemon given its been in the shop 3 times with less than 400 miles on the car. Asked Schomp BMW to provide an extended warranty given how many times I had to bring it back into the shop for repairs as my confidence in the vehicle and the brand had been severely shaken. Management was willing to look into the warranty and mentioned they would go "to bat" for me. They also asked if I would be willing to pay another $1K for the warranty if needed and wanted to "manage expectations". I said absolutely not given the number of issues I have had with the brand new car. They called me back a couple days later and said they could provide the warranty if I pay $2K on top of what I already paid for the car. That's double what they initially told me! From my experience in sales and marketing, you don't set an anchor price and then go back and double it with the customer. It's not going to end well given the customers highest out-of-pocket expectation has already been set. Through several conversations, it was clear they were not interested in doing the right thing for the customer. Which I find surprising given that I was already in talks with the sales group about potentially buying another BMW from them. I ended up giving the car back to Schomp and getting a refund, which I appreciated. It's a bummer this all happened as I really liked the car. I get the impression that management is playing the short game and they lost a long-term, loyal customer. It will be a long time before I consider purchasing another BMW. Not a great experience and I hope no one else goes through what I did with either BMW or Schomp.
