onI had to get my car towed over for tire replacement. I was late to my appointment, but you had my car there. Instead of working on it, you waited for me to come in to tell you “okay start now” I don’t understand why service couldn’t have been started before hand if you had my car hours before the appointment.

service department
by 03/01/2016
onI cant say enough about the service department. Brian Friedentag, my main contact was extremely patient with my needs and was always willing to accommodate me. I am a very hard person to please and in some way that department did it. From the person that checked in my car, the lady at the front door, my mechanic JJ (I am i bit nuts OCD about my car and he was great) to the service manager (Steve Cotter) which was always there to help me with every problem that I had. I really can not say enough about that staff. I did not purchased my MDX from there but i can not say enough about everyone in that building. THANK YOU P.S. My car was there during the snowstorm and they had no place to put it inside so when i came back to pick it up the service manager (Steve Cotter) was so nice and felt so bad he told me to come back and he would have my MDX detailed. I have not gone back for it but Steve's words are enough for me. Both Steve and Brian are good people and i trust them. This is the kind of people and staff that i have the pleasure to deal with. I can go on and on about Acura of Ocean but everyone should experience for themselves.

Great service!

onI only had to bring my car in a few times, but each time it was a piece of cake! I was helped by Brian Friedentag. This guy got me written up. Got me into a loaner car. Called me with updates, and took time to answer any questions I had. Super convenient! Definitely recommend this place.

SERVICE
by 02/29/2016
onI had my car serviced at this place TWICE in less than two months. The first time was early January. My advisor was a guy named Brian. He was not friendly, and was very "to the point" when informing me as the customer. He also was not happy to realize when I first arrived that I didn't purchase my vehicle at Ocean, but Ramsey. Aren't all Acura's covered under the warranty.. this was the first red flag. My vehicle was in the place for a period of about 13 days- one part needing to be replaced turned into 3 parts. Finally when I was informed I could pick up the vehicle nothing was explained when I arrived. I asked about what was done and was told to reference the "multi-point inspection checklist booklet" provided to me. Although unacceptable, I had no choice but to do that since Brian did not feel it was his job to explain. I found myself back at the service department this past week when I heard more noises in my car. I made it a point not to deal with Brian and request another advisor. Well it turned out another part was needed and ordered. Throughout the 7 days that Acura had my car Walter checked in and phoned me every day to update me what was going on. He also was patient with applying my tire warranty that was not being shown in the computer. It all went downhill when I picked up the vehicle at around 625pm last Wednesday. Well, all the advisors were gone so I dealt with the cashier. This lady whom I did not get the name was very nasty. She told me I owed $204.00 when the reality was everything was under warranty. She then huffed and puffed and phoned my advisor Walter who had already left. Turns out it was a simple mistake and the paperwork was mis-stippled or something. She hung up the phone and was going on and on bad mouthing how the "advisors should learn how to do their job, etc" She then proceeded to say she shouldn't be releasing my vehicle because the warranty company paperwork wasn't attached and said "just sign here." The best was when I went to my car and had a thought of asking what tire was replaced. When I returned inside and asked the question she was annoyed and told me she has no clue. Instead of hearing "thank you for servicing with us" or "Il have the service advisor call you," I heard complaint after complaint and dealt with people who seemed as if they hate their job. The only positive BOTH times was the lady who answered the phones and made both of my appointments. She is the only one you can give a compliment to because she was patient and phenomenal. This all leaves me to wonder...where are the personable people anymore in this world? In such a business you have to learn how to deal with customers who may not know about cars and their parts. I hope others do not experience what I have.

Excellence

onMy relationship with Acura of Ocean started when I moved to New Jersey in 2012 as a service customer with a car I purchased before moving here. Then in 2013 I purchased a car from Acura of Ocean and have continued to use the service department. Steve Cotter has always been a pleasure to work with in the service department. The general sales manager Dan Rupp made buying my car a pleasure. I am almost ready for my next Acura and I look forward to visiting the fine people at Acura of Ocean.

Bogus Vehicle report
by 06/02/2015
onAccording to my invoice the technician performed a MPI (Multi-Point Inspection) inspection on my vehicle. Looking over the MPI report, I noticed that it was from a couple of months ago and not recently. I would be very cautious, when this dealership recommends any maintenance.

onWent to get our car serviced for the third time. I paid for oil change and tire rotation. They tried to sell me things I didn't need but we agreed to just do what I requested. During the service they called and insisted that I do the things they are recommending and I again refused so I got a nasty attitude as I was told that I was warned the car would break down. ( it's a 2013 acural TL with 20 k miles ). When I picked up the car I noticed that the tires on at least the right side were not rotated because I had severely scratched the right front wheel on a curb (which was painfully etched in my memory) and the scratch was still in the same place ( front right ) They insisted it was done by showing me a video of a mechanic removing the rear left wheel. Keep in mind the only thing you could see on the video was the rear left wheel. I told them he very well may have done the left side but most certainly did not do the right. The General Manager began to patronize me by saying "oh I believe you" in a sarcastic manner and that he would "rotate them back" as if it was already done. How this guy is a service manager is beyond me. After that insult, I refused to let them touch my car again and he told me never to call to make another appointment. I can only imagine how many people they have screwed. Horrible customer service. Nasty attitudes. Don't waste your time or money.

Nasty service people/manager!

onOne star is even too good for this service group. I read other reviews and see that I'm not the only one that had problems. This service group is the worst in my lifetime. I'm so frustrated after 5 visits. Thank God this was the last visit. Once you meet the service manager, you understand why! I think he hates women. Stay away! Not worth the aggravation. I'd rather drive the 20 miles to get it serviced at another dealership.

Acura of Ocean is Horrible
by 03/03/2012
onAcura of Ocean makes owning an Acura a horrible experience. Inept service, difficult staff, and uncaring management equals me disliking my new Acura so much I am selling it and going back to Red Bank Volvo. They know how to treat people. Acura of Ocean cares nothing for its customers. My car broke down on the Garden State Parkway, had to be towed all the way to Ocean, all due to the fact that the service department never checked the battery during an almost $1,000 service one day earlier!! This dealership ignores what people tell them is wrong with the car, lies about recalls, charges them for items covered by recalls and more.

onMy car's clutch was not working so I went to Acura of Ocean hoping they will let me know exactly what is wrong. They tell me my whole clutch needs to be replaced because "cracked flywheel, burnt clutch" cost $2000. Instead of paying the 2 grand, I took it to my friend's shop and ordered the parts online. My friend opens the car up and finds NOTHING WRONG with the clutch torque converter assembly. The only issue was the clutch master cylinder issue. I remember on the phone talking to the service guy telling him it feels like cylinder problem because the clutch feels odd and is making noise. He told me clutch master cylinders almost never go bad. Well Well, I had to spend $1000 on unnecessary repairs since I had my friend open it up, I told him to just replace the clutch parts that wear out. Flywheel is FINE so he left it in. DO NOT TRUST ACURA OF OCEAN!
