Worst Service Visit ever

by TerryG on 06/06/2023

I've been bringing my car Open Road Honda service in Edison since I bought the car back in 2008. Their service used to be pretty good, and because they have factory trained mechanics who are familiar with the vehicles it gives you a feeling of comfort. But this last time I've had the worst experience ever dealing with any car repair in my entire life. I dropped the car on 4/18 for an oil change the Service Advisor Mira called me and said the brakes were low and suggested that they also work on the suspension. She said they can return the suspension back to normal. I agree and pick up the car when it's done and notice now the car is pulling to the left whenever I brake. I bring it back to service and they said they will tighten the suspension a bit more and it should be good. I drive off again, and immediately notice problem is still there. I texted Mira and she called me back and said she will have to charge me a diagnostic fee to see why the car is suddenly pulling to the left. I'm somewhat confused by all of this and asked why you are charging a diagnostics fee when this problem wasn't there when I dropped my car off and you just fixed the suspension. Her response was I don't know if the car was doing that before, because she didn't drive the car. I asked to speak to the manager Kyle and had to leave several voice messages. Kyle finally called me back and said the earliest they can look at the car again (3rd time) was Monday May 1st. I got the impression there was a more experienced tech who was returning on that day, so he wanted him to look at it. I dropped the car off the night before and the next day another service advisor Donna, called me and said the outer Tie Rod was damaged and had to be replaced. I obviously question how could tie rod be damaged when they just fixed the suspension. She didn't know. Once again, I called Kyle. Kyle called me back and asked if Mira told me anything else about the car when I initially picked it up the first time. She didn't mention anything. He said Mira should have mentioned the brake cable was damaged. Again, I question how the brake cable could get damaged after I dropped the car off for repair. He says valet guys might've done it while using the emergency brake. I suspect the tech obviously damaged the brake cable while he was working on the car or maybe they put a damaged broken brake cable from another vehicle, who knows . The fact that neither service advisor mentioned it during the 1st, 2nd or 3rd visit mean they were obviously hiding something. Well, a new brake cable was on back order, and almost impossible to get. It took several more days for them to find a used one from a nearby junkyard. Needless to say, I won't be returning to this Open Road Honda in Edison at all and will try my luck elsewhere.

Not Genuine and Not Trustworthy, they don't repair correctly.Horrible Servic

by Anil on 03/24/2022

They're a not genuine and not trustworthy. They scheduled me for an appointment today and refused to take my vehicle for service after visiting them. My car was serviced by them few months ago and went on the same issue again since they've not properly done there work. They refused to service my vehicle today because i responded to the Honda Survey genuinely. Donna Scala (Service Advisor) don't know how to talk to the customers, they told me my vehicle is not welcomed , told me to take keys and walkout for the scheduled appointment...They do exactly opposite to the Honda's core principals.Totally disappointed with her the way she handled me. I waited for one hour to talk to the Service Manager to see if he could be of anyhelp. Finally the Neil Wood (Service Manager/Director) came after one hour and behaved in same way. The manager/director role is to address the issues, but he does exactly opposite and he's of no help. He said he can't have my vehicle inspected. They wasted my time. Totally not a good place if you want your vehicles to be serviced good. On the other hand, I had issue with the sales person. They took the deposit, ran the credit check and after a week, they started saying the car color is not available. Not a good place to shop the vehicles either Please think twice before going to this place. They don't even deserve a single star. Please report them to HONDA if you come across same issues to you.

Outstanding Service

by GEM410 on 11/18/2014

I've been coming to this Honda dealership for eight plus years and wouldn't buy a Honda anywhere else. The sales team and service department are the absolute best. Everyone is professional, courteous and make it their job to have nothing but satisfied customers. During my most recent visits, I was assisted by Michael Goworek, Service Advisor. This was my second time dealing with Mike and he was great. I was greeted and checked in promptly. This is the norm at Open Road Honda. I've been assisted by nearly every service advisor at one time or another and the entire staff rocks. Thank you for providing me with outstanding service once again. PS My repair was covered under my extended warranty. Sincerely, Mary E. Hunsicker, South Plainfield, NJ

Bad Customer Service

by timlounewcar on 03/06/2014

Went there, told the guy I needed oil change. They took the key and the car. I went in, sit down, and waited. Two hours passed, I asked what happened, is the car going to be ready anytime soon? they said they NEEDED my confirmation to do an oil change, and nothing has been done and the car is just sitting there parked. What the ****? I waited two hours there, and there were at least 7 employees walking around and they couldn't ask: oh why is there a piece of paper with a set of keys sitting there for TWO fricking hours? Why did they just take my keys and car after I told the guy I need an oil change without even confirming what needs to be done to the car? If it wasn't for the free oil change service that comes with the car I bought there, I would never service my vehicle there. The service department is horrible and assumes that customers know their work flow. Look elsewhere when you want someone to really care about servicing your car. Not to mention the ridiculous prices for simple things like changing filters and "cleaning" (both over $70)--- then again it's a dealer so I did not deduct points from there. But keep this in mind, when you pay for their services, you are not paying for speedy and reliable customer service.

Bad Service

by johjo3 on 07/14/2013

The sales are just typical sales, they are not sincere and they want make profit from your purchase. You think you have a good deal on the car but wait until you do your maintenance. Those sales in the service dept will surely over charge you. The 5 stars review must be written by their own sales, hmmm, maybe by their family members. Ha.

Freakiest dealership i ever saw

by nikolas1 on 05/28/2011

Hello everybody, look just want to share my today 05/27/2011 experience with Open Road Honda (at least used sales department) absolutely HORRIBLE place to be. First of all my Honda Accord 2008 lease was finished so I called to Honda financial to find out what to do next they check everything (inspection, payments) and told me to bring the car to the Open Road Honda even this almost one hour drive from my town I was feel fine to know that this will be quick in terms of return procedure. OK I brought the car and the manager dept said NO we will not take you car and that gentlemen I think his name Rick communicate with customers in form of statements NO WE DON'T ACCEPT YOUR CAR, YOU don't have a copy of inspection NO we don take you car My car lot is too small NO WAY, YOU did not buy car from us WE don't take your HONDA I was under impression that guy thinks he on some other dealership other then Honda, not to mentioned how this character even work with people anyway I call again Honda Financial explain everything they called that freaky Manger of Open Road Honda, asked for the fax and sent him the copy of my inspection plus I guess reminded to him that he still sells Honda After that they kind of sobered up and set some sails person to finish return it took after call from Honda Financial about 5 min. Those guys are frisks the costumer service is absolutely horrible they literally started yell at us ( I was with my wife there) ant trying to prove us that Honda Financial and North America is just nothing and they can do basically what they want cause they are independently owned corporation forgetting the contract their owner signed with Honda Anyway the place is bad just watch out. I would NOT recommend it to my friend !!!!

Oil Change

by edison4 on 10/19/2010

My last oil change I was told my Accord needed new spark plugs, however I changed them myself just 2 weeks before I bought the car in. Every time I go for routine service they try to sell me some additional service or part. Time for a new dealer, Autosport seems to be getting all the good press. People read these reviews and take them very seriously Mr. Dealer.

OPEN ROAD HONDA SERVICE EDISON NJ

by fashionista1 on 06/08/2010

In June 2010 I went to open road Honda Service in Edison, NJ to get a wheel alignment, oil change tire rotation totaling $130.00. I dealt with a service advisor by the name of DANNY DOCARMO. He was very helpful and had me convinced I was in good hand until something went wrong his true colors of unprofessionalism and ignorance came through. After I paid for the work I went to the valet employee to pick up my car and I noticed OIL FINGER PRINT MARKS ALL OVER MY PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE SEATS ALONG WITH MARKINGS ON MY SUADE DOOR HANDLE. Prior to coming in for service my car was immaculate so I expected my car to be returned in the same condition, unfortunately it was not. When I confronted Danny about the issue he immediately became defensive and said that it wasn't anything his mechanics did. I showed him the marks that were clearly done by his "PROFESSSIONAL MECHANICS" and he continued to deny it and implying that I was lying and that the marks were there already. He went as far to say, "There is nothing I could do!" and threw his arms down and WALKED AWAY! When I did try to talk to him he continued to dismiss me as if I THE CUSTOMER meant nothing. He stated we have many people that come through these doors and try to "scam us" by blaming honda for issues that weren't caused by honda. I was floored that he would put me in that category and say that I was trying to "get over." I couldnt believe I was having this conversation with someone who I thought was a service professional. I was beside myself and asked to speak to manager who instructed the valet employee to bring it around to the car wash in an attempt to clean it. During the cleaning of the oil marks Danny (incompetent service advisor) went as far as bringing the mechanic to me and asked me if I saw any oil stains on his clothes??!! I replied that the markings are smeared fingerprints, nothing to do with his clothes. In short, that problem was rectified because of the valet employee washing out the marks. But the service and treatment that I received that day was unlike any other. I was disrespected to say the least. DANNY DOCARMO WAS UNPROFESSIOANL AND I RECCOMEND HIM TO NO ONE. A person like DANNY DOCARMO should not be in customer service field, he knew he was at fault and didn't want to admit it. The issue was no longer about the careless, messy finger print, markings it was about the disrespect and poor service I received that day! This issue will be taken to corporate.
