FRAUDULENT AND SHAMELESS

by Thatcarguy28 on 06/21/2018

Like many other, I am not usually one who finds the time to write reviews online, but based on my terrible experience with Quirk Kia's sales department I was compelled to write this review to educate others regarding their fraudulent business practices. To begin, I was contacted by Quirk KIA sales regarding the possibility of switching out my KIA Forte with a new vehicle prior to my lease end. When I visited the dealership, I was assisted by two sales reps who offered a compelling deal on a brand new Kia Optima. They mentioned that I would only be responsible for paying my first month's lease payment that day and that they would "take care"€ of everything else including any remaining liabilities on my KIA Forte. I also confirmed this with the finance manager who sat down with me prior to signing. A few weeks later, I received a bill stating that I was responsible for $2,414.28 for outstanding fees on my old lease. When I contacted Kia Motor Finance, I was informed that Quirk KIA was only responsible for the advanced lease payments and that I should contact the dealership to dispute the remaining balance. I contacted the dealership and spoke with an M. Edwards, one of the finance managers. I mentioned to him that the bill I received conflicts with information I was provided upon signing the new lease. He advised me to send him an email with a screenshot of the bill, so that he could do further research. I sent an email and did not hear anything. I called a few business days later and he advised that he was busy and that I would hear back soon. Turns out he never followed up. I called back a week later when he reluctantly advised that I had to pay the bill because I went over my mileage on my previous leased vehicle. It didn't seem like he did any research at all because the excess mileage charge was only one of a few charges shown on the bill. I could clearly see what the charges were for, but it conflicted with what his colleagues told me in December. His only advice was to try to see if I could pay it in installments and told me "good luck"€. I had also spoken to Matt Sweeney, the general manager, who argued that it was my fault for not telling them I went over my mileage during signing for the new lease. I find this to be quite deceptive and unfair! If I knew I would still have obligations toward the old vehicle, I would not have signed for the new vehicle to begin with. I then decided to file a consumer complaint with the Office of the Attorney General against Quirk Kia. The Office of the Attorney General assigned a consumer advocate who worked tediously to help resolve the dispute which lasted about 5 months. My consumer advocate had discovered that there was a discrepancy between the dealership and the finance company. A few weeks later my consumer advocate told me that Matt Sweeney decided to offer a check for $1200 as settlement. This was approximately 50% of my bill, which is synonymous with many other complaints I have seen online that end with some sort of settlement. At this point, my case was closed, but it was reopened because the check that Quirk KIA sent off had the incorrect VIN and was allocated to the wrong account!!! You would think after all I went through they could have at least gotten that right! Luckily my consumer advocate was able to resolve the issue and ensured that the payment was reallocated to my account. I then paid off the entirety of the remaining balance right away. Around that time I was in the process of refinancing my home and found out that the outstanding fees on my old lease actually caused a bad report on my credit throughout the length of the dispute! Just when I thought I had had enough. I have read multiple reviews and complaints online from others who share the same sentiment. They are a shameless and deceptive group of salesmen whose only concern is to tell you anything to convince you to buy a car. Once you've walked out the door you are the least of their concern. Please ensure that if you are given an offer or promotion, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. Do your research and shop various dealerships. That will help you avoid what I went through.

First Quirk & Kia experience

by gillian on 03/18/2018

We went to compare Quirks prices and choices with what we already had searched at other dealers and we left with a luxurious looking and driving V-6 Kia Sorento! Our sales man was and will be in the future Francisco Reyes Flores. An experienced and knowledgeable patient gentleman with a great sense of humor and negotiating ability. The dealership is simple, non threatening, not pushy and close to home! All the salespeople were well spoken and well dressed and our experience was top of the line. Thanks to Francisco! Excellent service!

Clayton at Quirk was awesome to work with at Quirk Kia. I was able to lease a car from an employee of mine with subpar credit. He worked really hard to make the deal go through for us, and I believe we got the best price.

Helpful and Patient Staff

by Eedwards1440 on 02/01/2018

Went in last night to buy a car and I cant say enough great things about the staff. I met Frank and the door and he showed me the car I had been looking it. He took me on a test drive and didnt judge me when I kept braking super hard (Note, new Kias have great/sensitive brakes. LOL) I met with Ali and he took the time to go through all of the features of the new car. He was extra thorough and made sure I understood what each and every safety feature did and how to use them. I felt like I had a great handle on everything after we met. Finally, I met with Sean. He helped me set up my Android Play and was beyond patient with me and answered all of my many, (many! haha) questions. He offered advice on apps that would work with my new touchscreen and took the time to make sure I was comfortable with everything. I upgraded to a car 8 years newer than my previous, so there were a lot of new features to review and Frank, Sean and Ali were a pleasure to work with.

good experience

by Mitchell on 12/13/2017

I wanted to test drive a few cars yesterday and ended up buying a kia sorento. Ali was great and very informative, I felt very comfortable knowing that all of my requirements for a vehicle were quickly met due to Ali's product knowledge. I have been buying cars from Quirk for over 10 years and have always had great experiences.

Don't trust this dealership - fraudulent business practices

by fhuthmacher on 09/01/2017

Hi all, I have never written a review before, but my recent experience with Quirk KIA in Braintree has for the first time ever, compelled me to do so. In short: If you look for a halfway honest car dealership which honors their word, and does not commit fraud, then go elsewhere. Here is the story: After 3 years of leasing a KIA Sportage, my wife and I were looking to buyout the leased car to avoid paying for cosmetic damages. Once we arrived at the dealership, at first no one was willing to provide us with a quote for financing (this should have been the first warning sign). Then after telling them that we had called KIA and that they had told us that the dealership actually offers this, they finally provided us with a quote. While reviewing this, the sales representatitive asked why we even want to buy this car, and said that financially speaking it would make more sense to return the car, because after looking at our car (not once, but twice) he determined that there would be no charges for any damages. According to him our car had only the normal "wear and tear" and we would not face any charges after returning the car. We were completely surprised by that, and questioned that several times (even making jokes about how my wife had pumped into tree's in the past), but he re-assured us that he has seen cars much worse being returned at no additional cost. Due to this circumstance, he convinced us to return the car and to lease a new car. On the same day we left the car at the dealership and got the new car. At that point we thought we are all set, we had returned the car and the dealership took the car as-is, without quoting us any additional costs. About 6 weeks later, we received a bill from KIA requesting about $1,200 for cosmetic damages on the returned car. This caught us completely by surprise and we immediately drove to the dealership to clarify the situation. At the dealership the same sales representative who sold us the new lease immediately recognized us and apologized right away and directed us to his manager. Once we had confronted the sales manager with the situation, he immediately said that a) he cannot remember that deal and that he was not involved in it. -> Both untrue, he even had inspected our car together with the sales rep and remembered that I am from Germany earlier... . b) and that they do not inspect leased cars upon return and that they are just an intermediary for KIA. Therefore there is nothing he can do about it. After that unsatisfying reponse, we asked to speak to the general manager (Matt Sweeney) of that dealership and he said something along the lines of "I do believe you, but at the same time I don't. You don't have any proof and I was not involved in the transaction..." . In addition he said that if his sales representative would admit to this, then he would fire him and get the money from him. Ultimately, he offered us half of the cost ($600) as "good will" but said that this would be the most we get and that this offer is "final". The involved sales rep offered us a $100 of his own money on top of this. After we told Matt Sweeney (the general manager) that this is not an acceptable solution and that we cannot accept the $100 from the sales representatives own money, he took the offer off the table altogether. Given no other options I told him that I will share this customer experience, which was perceived as a threat and resulted in Matt Sweeney yelling at me and threatening to call the police if I don't immediately leave the dealership. Until this point I thought that this might have been an honest mistake of a new sales representive and not a fraudulent scheme to get new leases. In particular that the sales representative immediately apologized and offered $100 of his own money showed me that he felt guilty. Unfortunately not enough, because he did not admit to it while the general manager was present (at least not in front of me), most likely out of fear of losing his job (which is no surprise after what his manager had said earlier). But being shutdown like this, being lied to by the sales representatitive and sales manager and being accused of lying myself, I cannot any longer say that this was a mistake by a single sales representative, but rather is calculated fraud endorsed by this management. In the end we left the dealership emtpy handed. The next day we tried to get in contact with the actual owner of Quirk, because you would think that someone who's name is on door would want to know what his business is doing, but apparently not We were not able to contact him directly, but we got to speak with a representative of HR, which told us that she will speak with the owner and get back to us as soon as possible. While they never called us back, we went back to the dealership, to see if we can meet the owner in person. Unfortunately we were told that the owner is almost never present and that he would not be involved in situations like this anyways. Calling KIA directly did not help either. They told us that this is an issue with the dealership and that they cannot do anything about it. Ultimately we went back to the general manager to see if he had a change of heart and would come up with a better way of handling this situation. Surprisingly, the original offer (paying 50%) was in some way back on the table. Maybe the escalation to their HR department had helped? Or was it the comment about sharing this customer experience that got them spooked? Probably the latter, because the offer was only valid on one condition, namely that we would not share this customer experience with anyone and with accepting this offer, all claims are void. To cut our loses, my wife accepted that offer, in part with the hopes to get the other half from the owner. Fortunately they did not make me sign anything like this so that I can share/warn you about this dealership and their fraudulent business practice. Because after trying to get in touch with Quirk HR & the owner for several days, we finally managed to get hold of someone (again not the owner), only to be told that they stand by the way the general manager had handled the situation. The lesson learned here is clear: a) Don't trust this dealership: People working there are dishonest people who do not shy away from fraud, and they don't care about customer satisfaction. b) Demand everything in writing: There are valid offers out where, there dealerships accept cars regardless of their condition at no charge if you lease a new car, but you should always get something in writing. Don't be naive as I was and trust a sales representative or rely on a sales representative to be truthful. c) KIA sales representatives cannot make claims about the condition / cost of the car you are returning (which I was unaware of). The time you turn in the car is not automatically the time it is inspected and inspect bills at a later point unless you have a voucher (or anything in writing) as part of your new lease agreement.

UNETHICAL and DISRESPECTFUL

by BKeane1 on 09/06/2016

An affront to basic human decency - UNETHICAL business practices I'd really like to give this dealership negative stars. I am 35 and have never bothered to write a review of anything but my experience was so enraging I want to warn others. I was looking to lease a KIA optima and called about a deal I saw online at KIA of Braintree. As I am not new to leasing I realized that there were fees and taxes not mentioned in the ad. I spoke with a girl named Niki who gave me the tax/title/acquisition fee/money down/monthly payment, and also said they would pay my disposition fee for ending my lease at Toyota. I wrote down everything and asked her repeatedly if she was sure about the numbers because Braintree is an hour from my home and I wasn't driving there unless this deal existed. She "TRIPLE CHECKED" everything, so I went in.... ONLY to find that Niki had "stepped out" and that I'd be dealing with someone else. Regrettable I dont remember this guy's name. He kept pushing me to look at the KIA and drive it before he would go over the pricing. I ended up humoring him and test driving, etc. He takes my license and disappears only to come back with a bunch of numbers that were TRIPLE what "Niki" promised on the phone. He wasn't interested at all in what deal we had discussed. He said there was no such deal. I told this guy I was livid and that they had wasted four hours of my time while I had someone babysitting my 6 mos old. Finally a manager stepped into the conversation and asked me about the deal I was offered. He offered me something a little closer but not the same as i was promised --- only after I had flipped out. He claimed to not know who Niki was - that she must be a trainee... Bottom line is she is one of many phone reps who doesnt work on site and who will say ANYTHING to get you to go to the dealership with no regard for you or your time. DONT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP! By the way, I ended up getting an amazing deal on a toyota from WOburn Toyota. Everything the told me on the phone was true when I went in. Imagine that.

Threatens to Do Bodily Injury and Illegally Detains Woman with 2 Children

by bruceinwaltham on 07/28/2016

Sent a Coworker down to buy a new Kia Sorento. She wound up by accident at the Kia used car store which kept her and her children hostage and would not tell her how to get to the new Kia car sales showroom which was around the corner. Women has two small children with her and she is crying when she calls me up telling me they won't let her leave unless she buys a Chrysler when she told them from the beginning she wanted a brand new Sorento. Spoke to the salesman that was detaining her his name was Ryan but lied to me and said it was Robert LOL. Reported him to his manager, or so called manager, who flies off the handle with me when I ordered them to let her be free to go to the New Kia car sales showroom. His name was Phil Turnula who threatened to do bodily injury to me saying he was going to [non-permissible content removed] and demanded that I go down to the store to fight him then hangs up on me [non-permissible content removed]. Are these people on drugs or something? Called back again and spoke to Steve Benson and he said that my coworker and her two children were released and were directed to the New Kia car showroom. Asked him what crime she committed by just wanting to buy a new car and he tells me that the crime committed was her going to them by accident and not the new car store then flip flops the story and says that Ryan and Phil Turnula were sent home and would be reprimanded and that he would call the new Kia car sales showroom to tell them to give my coworker a good deal on a new Sorento. Well that didn't happen either because the salesman would not budge a single dollar off of the MSRP of the New Sorento LOL LOL LOL. Go to this place only if you want to be threatened with bodily injury, detained if you are a woman or a child and then lied to in the end. [non-permissible content removed] that is what you get at Quirk. Quirk works? Sure, if you want to get ripped off and lied to. Stay away, in fact run away.

Terrible. Would give 0 stars if I could.

by LeaAld11 on 06/23/2016

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Obviously they suck you in with these amazing lease deals. I go in last Monday sign a lease for 2016 Optima. Drive it for two days and my ears starting ringing. I call Sales speak to John (don't go to him) (he's only been there for a month) and he tells me if the problem is not resolved I can get my down payment back as long as it's within 45 days. I had this car for 5 days, was not offered a rental car (apparently you have to ask) when I did ask they said they had none available. Now they're waiting for parts that could take a few days to get in. I call John back in sales asking for my down payment back and that I no longer want the car and he tells me I'd have to come in the next day to speak with a sales manager (Matt). John also informed me he would not be getting his $1,000 bonus because I gave him a 3/10 on a survey when it came to time I spent at the dealership (total of 4 hours waiting to drive it off the lot when I forwarded him a copy of the insurance binder that morning at 9AM). Finally, get transferred to Matt (manager) (clearly raising my voice because now I'm without a car and have no rental car to get to work) and he threatens to hang up on me (which he did). Call back 3 times, hung up on all three times. Will be heading there shortly to sort this out in person. Very unprofessional crew here at Quirk.

by binhjaminh on 07/24/2015

If you don't buy a car from them, they treat you like garbage. Be prepared to get treated like crap once you say no to their final offer. The GM (Dave Campbell) came over personally to talk down to me and was a complete [non-permissible content removed]. Will never go to any Quirk again. Will never go there again.

by Patttois on 06/12/2015

Almost bought a car from this company, but, thankfully it didn't work out. My daughter was looking for her first new car. I told her to look around at the various manufacturers and find what she wanted while I was on a business trip. She fell in love with the Kia Soul and went to Quirk several times to talk with the salesman about it. We arrived at Quirk at 6:10 PM. I wanted take a quick 5 minute ride in it to make sure it had enough pep to get out of its own way. Satisfied, we went back to Quirk to do the paperwork. They wouldn't do much dealing, but there was a small rebate and low interest financing available as long as the car was purchased in my name. First, I was asked to sign a blank contract. They told me it didn't mean anything. After I insisted they fill in pricing, they finally agreed. They also wanted me to sign a paper stating that I give them permission to turn over my nonpublic information to third parties. They claimed it was so I could get coupons for service, etc., but that's not what the form said. Again, I refused. By now, it was 8:10 and the salesman told me that he had bad news. The car I wanted was across the street in their lot and the attendants went home at 8:00. The salesman knew how much my daughter wanted the car so I asked why he didn't have the car brought over before 8:00. He said he couldn't until certain paperwork was done. I couldn't believe that. If it's a matter of selling a car or not selling a car, I would think there's a way that could be done. So, needless to say, my daughter was very upset. We were headed back to our house to get a document I had forgotten and were going to go back to finish the paperwork when I decided to call a competitor. He said he had the car in stock, so we picked up the document and drove straight there. What a pleasure to do business with this other dealer. We bought the car there, got a better price on a car that had several options, and discovered that Quirk hadn't even given us the best rebate that Kia was offering! If Quirk was the last car dealer on Earth, I'd ride a bicycle.

Not your average dealership

by Melm0213 on 12/13/2014

Recently bought a Kia soul from Shawn at quirk Kia. As a first time car buyer I was worried about dealing with games and someone thinking they could take advantage of me. Luckily I found Shawn Schwotzer at quirk who made the experience as easy and comfortable as possible. He explained all my options and patiently answered my questions. He worked to get me the car and extras I wanted while meeting my needs for a monthly payment. They worked through a different bank to get me the best rate and provided me with an insurance agent to help me find the best coverage. Shawn's manager Matt took the time to explain all the options for additional coverage and answered my many questions. Shawn and Matt were both friendly, honest and really made the experience as easy as possible getting me in a new ace that day. Most importantly I love my new car!!

Good Experience

I bought a new Optima SXL yesterday and found that it was the best car buying experience I have had to date. The sales manager quoted me a price on the phone and was direct. I never felt as if I the sales person "Gerry" was being dishonest. I had contacted four other Kia dealers prior to Quirk and either didnt get a good feeling or the dealerships did not have the vehicle I was looking for. Quirk had several vehicles I was interested in and offered the lowest price. I would recommend Quirk and Gerry to anyone thinking about buying a Kia.

Excellent Deal but a little sneaky!!!

by muyjk1 on 01/09/2011

I can't give this dealer 5 stars... I thought I got a great deal... However, I have to mention what happened. They did not give me inspection sticker!!! Joe just mentioned once about the inspection sticker out in the beginning! When we have final deal he did not tell me the inspection sticker out. Be careful and look through everything in final paper work!!! That's my mistake!!! They want to take any small money from you!!! They just saved $29 but they got some bad review from me. 4 stars instead of 5!!!

Not sure it was worth 3 days

by kayg1 on 05/25/2010

On Friday May 21, 2010 my husbands car decided to die, and we could not live without two cars. We decided to go car shopping that after noon. However after going to 4 dealerships we decided to go to Quirk Kia in Braintree. I called manager Al Friday night. He informed me that they would be closing in 1 1/2 hours and he asked if I could come in on Saturday and they would help us. We went in on Saturday and met with Hany. He was one of the funniest car dealers I have ever met. I have so much fun with him and he made car shopping so much more fun then any other place. Even our 2 year old son who came with us thought he was funny and Hany played with our son the whole time we were there. We ended up waiting around for 6 hours as the finance guy Joe tried to work his magic. I own my own business and could not show 2 years of pay stubs making this a really hard deal to pull off. However, Al, Joe and Jim worked their butts off. At one point all three of them were on the phone. Our sales guy just kept us busy and made us feel like we were talking to a good friend. Joe was unable to close the deal on Saturday due to the banks closing early and we had to wait until Monday to find anything out. Al kept us updated throughout the day so that we didn't have to come in and wait. Al called me every step of the way however he would give a time frame and not stick to it. Sadly my husband and I just started feeling like this deal was never going to happen and if it did they had us at an 18.9% rate. So we went to another dealer on Monday night and we signed contract 30 minutes after walking in. I'm not sure why Quark's financing took 3 days and the other place only took 30 minutes. We got a better deal, and a lower price and only 7% interest at [other dealership]. But with all that said I would still highly recommend this team. I was blown away by their fun and friendly personality and there amazing team work skills. If you have great credit and some extra time on your hands this team is great.

Best Kia Dealership

by tj2011 on 03/22/2010

We just purchased a 2011 Kia Sorento from this dealership. Our sales person Remon was very friendly, a professional with great customer service skills, impeccable professionalism, very knowledgeable about Kia's vehicles, and great above-and-beyond care. Their sales price was very competitive, even slightly better than that offered by other dealerships. Therefore, after spending about four hours on the first day and two hours on the second day, we decided to buy the car. Overall, Remon made our purchasing experience very pleasant. We also, met the Sales Manager Al, the Finance Coordinator Mike, even the General Manager, who all were very professional and helpful as well. One could sense a team atmosphere in which all wanted to help the customer and make the process as easy as possible by answering all questions instead of pressuring you into something like most of the other dealerships are known for. On his day off, Remon even came in just to make sure that the car will be ready for pick up on the day and time we requested. They did not have any problem that I test drove three cars before I made my decision. I even had the feeling that I almost could test drive every single car on the lot if I wanted to and they would have been patient with me. Remon even called me the day after picking up my car to inquire about my experience with the car and if there is anything else he could help me with. We felt comfortable from start to finish and we highly recommend this dealership since they truly care about their customers. Just check it out and you will see...

EXTREMELY Positive Experience

by ppaccia on 04/19/2008

I had requested several Internet quotes from dealerships. After dealing with several shady dealers, I walked into Quirk Kia, just 15 minutes before closing. I was greeted with a big smile from Joe D. (Internet Manager), like I was a long lost friend. He introduced me to John D. (Sales) and John proceeded to walk me through the vehicle features and options. After the test drive, now well-past closing time, I sat down with John to discuss numbers. I was waiting for the inevitable phrase "I'm sorry, we can't actually do that price I quoted you, but we can offer this...." I am extremely pleased to say, that phrase was never spoken. The Internet price I was given was EXACTLY what I paid. I can honestly say this was probably my most positive car purchase experience ever. John is very genuine, extremely friendly, just a very outgoing guy who sincerely loves selling cars. I have already referred friends to John and would absolutely purchase there again in the future.
