Fraudulent Sale of Damaged Car

Vacaville Volkswagen sold me a car with a clean CarFax, represented as "not" being in an accident. Recently, due to a leak, it was discovered by my auto body shop, that the car, indeed, had been in a major accident and had a shoddy repair job. I called Eric White, manager of Vacaville Volkswagen, and informed him of the obvious damage to the car, along with sending him lots of photos. He said "twice" in phone calls that they "always" inspect the cars prior to selling. I said no one could have missed the damage on this car if they had looked.. Eric offered to give me a good deal on a trade in for the car so he could "sell" me another car. I said I didn't want to buy another car, I wanted to bring this one back as its condition (not being in an accident) was fraudulently misrepresented to me. In a second phone call, after he had spoken to his boss, Eric said there was nothing he could do for me and to have a nice day.

Buying a Car and Enjoying It

For a lot of people, buying a car is and always has been like having root canal surgery. But my recent experience at Vacaville Volkswagen suggests that the old model has changed. The current internet sales staff were prompt and attentive, an experience that flatly contradicts older reviews posted, here. The test drive was both leisurely and informative. The negotiations over price were direct and straightforward. And the appraisal of my trade in was both careful and generous. I do think it is both important and relevant to note that I made a major effort to be a well-informed buyer -- lots of research on edmunds.com, current price and incentive information from Consumer Reports and Costco, and lots of window shopping at dealership sites on the web in the greater Sacramento region. I corresponded more than once with internet sales staff at four different dealerships. And some of them paid attention and some of them didn't. I haven't bought a lot of cars since I bought my first one in 1969. A total of seven, to be exact. But this recent experience at Vacaville VW (from whom I bought a Jetta in 1999) was far and away the most relaxed and agreeable. Dealerships change over time, and this one, based on my experience, has changed for the better. I would recommend it to anyone, without reservation.

Not for real

Was contacted by dealership and willing to buy from them until the salesperson suddenly increased the price by $600 claiming that it was an incorrect quote. That made me suspicious so I contacted other dealers and negotiated the same car for $1500 less. Although salesperson was very courteous by e-mail, it turned out that this dealership never had the car on site during any of the time they were negotiating with me.

I applied for contact twice online and never received a phone call or any type of contact. I called and talked to someone that "could not find a vehicle." There were seveal in Vallejo and in Roseville. The internet guy lies!! 2 weeks later I get an automated email from the dealership about the experience, promising a reply. However, same response . . . NOTHING! These guys suck
