Thompson's Toyota of Placerville

On May 23, 2015 the sales person knowing I have a E-Check from USAA told me I needed to complete another loan application to prove who I was. I had a California Driver's License plus a Military ID, that was not good enough according to them. It was a ruse to run a credit report which they showed me they had done so. And, to try and steer me to us their loan. I refused. I have filed a complaint with USAA and TruCare. And, will be finally a complaint with the agency the regulates car dealerships.

Overall very good

I dealt with a salesperson there by name of Amber W. She was very accommodating and low pressure. They didn't have the vehicle I wanted, so Amber did some looking around at the stock of other dealers. She found some vehicles and called me to see if I was interested in any of them, but none were a good match. I later found another dealer that could get me what I wanted, so went with them, but have good "vibes" about Thompsons and would not hesitate to use them again. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because their high-pressure sales manager, Bill, kept coming by and interrupting my conversations with Amber, and tried to persuade me to make a deal then and there for the vehicle they had in stock, even though I had already said it wasn't what I wanted. He wasn't overbearingly high-pressure, but enough to give me a negative impression. If I had to deal with him for a car, I'd go to a different dealer.

Professional, Pleasant Sales Managers

Best car buying experience we’ve ever had! Well worth the drive from Roseville. Both the price we were quoted for the new Rav 4 we bought and our trade in were reasonable from the get go. They were so close to what I’d found to be a fair price online at varies websites; Kelly Blue Book, Consumer Reports, etc - we went for it and that was it – no haggling needed, no being jerked around. We’d previously walked away from a horrible experience at our local dealership so we were actually surprised by the pleasantness of the sales managers at the Thompsons dealership

The good, the bad and the ugly

Good - sales person was extremely helpful and honest Good - trade-in seemed effortless Bad- it's been two weeks and they still have yet to pay off trade in Ugly- Yeah, my fault in the end. But the financing department (first initials are "L" and "R") were [violative content deleted]. "Forcing" gap insurance and claiming that financing would not be available without purchase of warranty was complete b.s.. Again, I take full responsibility Good- The car runs great and was and is in tip-top shape.
