It had been sitting on the lot for a few months and was able to get it at Invoice. The larger cities (Durham, Greensboro) didn't even have any available to drive. I couldn't turn down the deal....and I love the way this car handles and sounds. It reminds me a great deal of my 83 Rabbit GTI....lots of grins on a country road.

I'm looking at an '04 Passat Wagon, as you described, but need automatic transmission - everything else seems to be standard: sunroof, one-CD-at-a-time player (but it does have a cassette player, too, for Books on Tape!), cruise, etc. I am convinced that because I am a woman I am not getting anywhere near a good deal. The "invoice" I saw on this car was $29,823, and the best quote I have in hand so far is $27,950...a lot more than the $26350 you paid, even if I paid extra for the automatic transmission! I would like to get this car for $27,000. Is that realistic? (I live in NC, by the way. I think the cars come in at Wilmington - destination charge is $575.) Right now I have suspended this car purchase because I am in such a bad mood about the whole "game" that is being played on me, with MY money! Regards, Carolyn P.
