Dealership Sales Review

Deceptive, deceptive, deceptive
Written by mikett on 01/21/2012
"Deceptive" is one word striking out when I think of this dealership. This past week, my wife and I came to trade in our car, agreed with Michael Fetty for the price difference of $7500. Bobby Choi came in and said in order for us to get the 1,9% preferred rate (Passat 2012) with Volkswagen, we had to put down $2500. We disagreed, but after a day thinking it over we agreed and came to sign the deal. But the paper wrote the car price was $26K instead of the $24,5K that we agreed. The finance manager, Bill Thomas, said it was the $1500 "buy down" that he had to pay to the creditor in order for him to offer us 1,9% interest rate. None of this was ever said to us, both my wife and me, beforehand. Very deceptively, Bill talked about low payment, not much more than what we were paying for the Jetta 2011 which we traded in, etc. But he knew or must have known, that the payment was low only because we paid $2500, effectively lower the loan by more than 10%, not because of his addition of $1500 illegally to it. Then he said, he heard Bobby Choi talked about "buydown" also. My wife and I could not be 100% positive he did or did not use the word "buydown", but we were positive he did not mention the EXTRA $1500 on top of the car price. Bill declined to answer if he heard of the $1500 extra. In all, I think Michael Fetty, Bobby Choi, and Bill Thomas were equally guilty of this grand deception, which I think they use to cheat most other car buyers. They wanted to create a situation "too late to change anything", with keys and tags already swapped, etc. In fact, upon our entering the dealership for the 3rd and last time, Michael Fetty took our keys right away and went to swap tags. Bill made it as if the $1500 extra had been an absolute requirement, necessity, in order to get 1,9% financing from Volkswagen. Today I am going to contact Volkswagen about it, and will go to the BBB. This trio must have cheated thousands and thousands of dollars from too many buyers. And my protest to different levels of authorities will concentrate on these three people, not of other ones at West Broad VW, and not of the dealership, or Page Auto group itself. I think Page Auto Group would never tolerate such action, and this surely is never in their policy, or in training manual. I stand behind all the facts in this matter.
