Be careful and be thorough

onI feel I got a deal. Sadly I was asked to come to the dealership under false pretenses. I used USAA's Truecar program looking for a Ford F-150 XL, Super Crew Cab and standard bed. I was contacted by the dealership and told that the vehicle was difficult to come by but could be done and made the appointment to come in. I was never shown an XL. I was shown 3 XLTs. I was never shown the USAA's Truecar guarantee for the vehicle I bought. I expected to get an XL for about 28K and got an XLT for 36K. The XL I was quoted by the dealership was 34K. No where near the 28K of the Truecar guarantee. I voiced I wanted to spend no more than 30K and have a payment less than $500. No vehicles in that price range were ever shown to me. The dealership perks ie engine care, tires for life, etc are great. The perks are why I bought the vehicle. If I had not expected something like this I would have had my time wasted since I live over 40 miles away. I do believe the staff tried their beat to get me a good deal but I don't think I got the best deal guaranteed by USAA's Truecar guarantee. Salesman was not knowledgeable, often referring to others for answers or recommending I read the owners manual.
