Tried to stiff me over $10,000 dollars

by John Doe on 02/01/2022

They tried to sell me a Grand Cherokee over $10,000 dollars MSRP and then insisted on me buying it even though they knew they increased the price out of know here to pressure me. Salesman was nice but managers were rude and wanted to stiff me. Overall bad experience with managers.

Bad Experience

by RGVcustomer on 10/14/2017

Do NOT do business with this dealership!! This dealership has be the most unprofessional, unethical, shady place in the valley. First of all, the salesmen are uneducated and incompetent. The finance department is crooked and lie to financing banks about household income and employment to get customers approved, no matter how poor their credit score is, or how high the customers interest rate will end up at, at the end of the deal. To make a long story short, my elderly parents went by the dealership as many of our parents do, to "window shop" knowing that they probably should not and could not qualify for a auto loan due to credit and being on a fixed income. The salesman lured them in, along with the finance manager.... ran their credit, got them into a large, used, overpriced vehicle approval with an 18% interest rate. They were going to end up paying double what the vehicle sale price was at the of the 6yr. agreement. We took the vehicle back, cancelled the contract with the bank, and just to have the fiance manager try to persuade my parents into another over priced vehicle. When they refused to take any vehicle from that dealership, he pretty much insinuated that my parents only got approved the first time because he had a "good relationship" with the bank that approved them?? What was funny, was that my mother later showed me a paper where the finance manager himself, wrote false income on a paper, and ask her to tell the bank that that was her income when they would contact her via phone, although it was not. This is elderly exploitation! There are many other ethical and honest places to buy from, DO NOT GO TO ED PAYNE, you will regret it!!!

by nocme on 10/07/2010

called to get price on vehicle, they would not get it for me, wanted me to stop in and then said they could beat price I already had. Went down because they said they could. They did not have the vehicle they told me they had and tried to sale me stuff on another truck I did not want. Would never buy from them.

A Great Experience!!!

by malagaheart on 08/17/2009

Hello Everyone, So, I really love this dealership. It was so amazing to deal with a dealership that actually has an Internet Department that answers your questions. They were upfront with pricing information on their vehicles, even told me in detail about dints and dings(imagine that!), and had me in and out of the dealership in about an hour. Before I got there they had all the paper work ready, the car washed and detailed. It was the best experience I have had, and I didn't know buying a car could be this easy. Especially after many bad, bad, bad experiences. However, I would make sure you contact one of their internet managers...they are helpful, professional, and will help you in anyway they can.

Zero Integrity

by alex64 on 01/27/2009

I spotted a Toyota Tacoma on the used sale lot of the Ed Payne dealership in Brownsville, Texas. I inspected it on the outside and it looked great. I came back the next day. Money in hand, but also ready for a closer inspection. It's a dealership the quality must be good I told myself, you pay a little more at a dealership for a used car, but you also buy piece of mind. Upon closer inspection I came to the conclusion that my dream truck had been submersed under some significant amount of water. The track where the seats are adjusted on were rusty (flaking off kind of rusty not just a bit), all metal visible inside the truck was rusty. I pointed that out to the salesman and he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say oops you caught us. Beware of this place it lacks any integrity and judging by this (almost transaction) do not care about their reputation. A horrible combination for any potential consumer.

Ed payne Motors was a pain to deal with

by durand02 on 11/22/2007

I Sent online requests for price quotes to Ed payne Motors for a Dodge 3500 Truck. I never got any e-mail price quotes as I clearly and explicitly requested on my online inquiry. I got several phone calls instead and finally agreed to go to the dealership to "get a great deal" on a 3500 Dodge truck I wanted. My visit went as follows: I met with a guy in the sales department that knew less about the new 6.7 Cummins than I did. He also knew less about the main competitor vehicle(F-350) than I did. He insisted no one ever sells a truck at Invoice pricing and is also able to generate a profit for the dealership. Payne motors proved to be a real pain as all their "deals" are MSRP minus "Payne discounts" which are actually the Cash to Buyer rebates from Dodge. Their "awesome deal" was actually the invoice price after all the rebates were deducted from the MSRP. These figures and stories just did not add up, so I walked out of the dealershi and kept getting calls for several days urging me to come in to work out a "good deal" so I could drive out in a new truck.
