Business Practices

by Paul W on 01/02/2022

I ordered a new 2021 EcoSport early April 2021. The reason I ordered it is because there was nothing on the lot at the time that suited what I was looking for. There still is nothing currently on their lot that I want. To be fair, I was told the order would take a few months. Okay, fine. Well, I’m still waiting for it and was recently told that it “allegedly” will arrive sometime later in February 2022. If the vehicle arrives at all, and I am not sure it ever will, it will be a year-old new vehicle. During this time, I had my sale representative quit and was assigned a new one kind of. I guess I am being taken care of by Matt the sale manager and the said replacement for my original representative. Asking a customer to wait almost a year to get a vehicle is beyond reasonable and I feel that I have been patient far beyond anyone else would be. I put a $1,000 credit card deposit down on the vehicle upon the initial order and at this point simply want them to credit my card and we can just part ways. They finally agreed to do this but under one condition. I must physically show up at the dealer to receive this. Here is my issue with this request. Millions of credits are put through to card holders every day without them being present. I don’t see people driving to Seattle every time they need to get a refund from Amazon. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever I should need to drive all the way to the dealer (it’s not like I live next door to them), to receive the refund unless the ultimate plan is try and not give me the refund and get me back out on their lot to try and push me into a vehicle I do not want. They could credit my card over the phone, mail a check, use Venmo or Zelle but they refuse. They are holding the deposit hostage at this point. This is a very dishonest business practice and if they would have just simply credited my card over the phone, I’m not even writing this review but now feel I have no choice but to inform people of this shady practice.

Very disappointed

by richard flores on 10/28/2021

Me and my husband had the worst experience at Town East Ford!! We purchased a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 with 20k miles. 1 week later after purchasing the truck, after the storm hit our front headlight went out and we took it to Dodge because it still had warranty. Unfortunately, Dodge notified us that the warranty was voided due to a prior accident, and they billed us over $1,600. We were not aware of this accident nor was it reported on Carfax. We would have never ever purchased a truck if we knew it was in an accident. We contacted Town East Ford, we spoke to Victor R. on a Tuesday, and he told us to bring it in the next day. We came in on Wednesday and all he did he had the techs take pictures of the headlight. He said he was going to follow up with me on Thursday and I never heard back. I continued to contact him Thursday and Friday leaving several voicemails. NOT ONCE did he contact me with any updates at all. I cannot recall how many times I called him. Me and my husband had to go out there AGAIN on Saturday being 30 minutes from our home to get this resolved. Luckily, we spoke to the other sales Manager Michael M. who was very concerned about our situation and did his best to get my issue resolved. Nonetheless, we DID NOT enjoy our Truck the first two weeks having to drop it off either at Dodge or at Ford. We were not even offered a rental and we drove up there literally 4 times. Honestly when purchasing a newer truck, you expect to enjoy it, drive it and not have any problems. This whole situation left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Farle Lutian helped me greatly

by eric on 08/16/2019

I was very satisfied with the treatment my wife and I received from Farle Lutian when purchasing our new 2019 vehicle. This is the 2nd vehicle I have bought from him and I will buy another from him again.

All about the sale not about the customer no matter what they tell you

by shutupanddrive on 05/26/2017

These guys will say whatever it takes to make the sale. When showing the used vehicle, if things are missing or needed, it's "sure, we can do that" or "sure that would be covered in the 3month warranty". And suddenly the online price doubles and the "dealer added value" was really just the part they moved to another line in the total when the price "dropped" but it is still there and non-negotiable. (Why didn't I walk out then as I wanted to? The vehicle wasn't for me and it was a good vehicle.) And once you sign, they are done and none of those assurances mean a thing which they let you know with: once you sign it is yours and nothing was implied. Called to schedule a fix on an issue I was assured was covered by warranty (actually was told was "normal" by the salesman who knew nothing about the vehicle, just kept agreeing with me--"that's what I was going to say" kind of guy)--nope, not covered. Called to get a part that I was told by two different guys would be replaced--not yet. I've since been to several other dealerships while purchasing another vehicle. Not one was as underhanded as this one. Never again.

Town East is great. They made everything simple and easy. They catered to everything I said I needed in a new vehicle and they worked hard with me to make sure I got it!

Professionals for each step in the process - sales to finance!

by jeffg3 on 02/10/2015

Town East is 30 miles from my home, but an online review of inventory suggested my wife and I should check it out. I was really impressed! There were multiple options of the Ford Edge I was looking for, and at favorable prices compared to other Ford dealers located more convenient to me. The sales person David Berrara is very polished, professional, and I feel an up and coming young man, with a very bright future! Financing staff were also terrific, and had an extremely compelling option on an extended warranty, which I had no intention of buying. It made sense...and the Ford Edge is exactly what I was looking for, with the right set of features. Love the dealer, love the car. Jeff G, from Allen, Texas

Worst experience ever

by WhosThat on 04/14/2014

My husband and I found out we’re pregnant, so we decided to trade in his car for a truck he wanted. First, when we went into the dealership to negotiate the truck he liked, the salespeople got into a semi-angry discussion over who was going to take the sale - it was extremely unprofessional, not to mention uncomfortable. Second, when it came time to finalize the details, we were visited by one of the gentleman from the finance department. This was normal, I know. What wasn't normal is the way he went through each item of our credit one by one, making little comments such as, "Oh the banks don't like to see that," or whispering confidentially, "So, what happened here?" Like most people, we knew our credit wasn't great, but having someone sit down like you're a toddler and list every mistake you'd ever made was embarrassing and left us both agitated and ready to leave. Third, we were upside down on our trade. We knew we would be, but it kept the payment out of our range and we didn't want to go higher. We decided it could wait. In order to save the sale, the "finance" guy decided we should KEEP the vehicle we had ($650/month) and simply buy the new one as an addition instead of a replacement - adding another $650 a month payment to our bills. So, I asked him how having a $1,300 a month vehicle bill would be better than going over our +/- $600 budget? He said that we wouldn't have the other payment if we sold the other car. "Exactly," I said, "if. The only guarantee is that we will have two payments due next month, and every month until the other car sells - if it sells.” Fourth, the finance guy said that the answer to our problems was to trade in BOTH of our vehicles and get two new vehicles! This is, without a doubt, the WORST advice I've ever gotten. I told him as much, and he asked my why. I said, “Because I’ll have my car paid off in two years (which he knew) and you’re telling me that because I’m ‘probably’ upside down in my car, that I should hide the negative equity in a new one that I’ll be paying for four years after I would have paid mine off. And besides, I’ll only be upside down if I actually sell it – when the actual sale is realized.” The guy just stared at me blankly. Fifth, when I (we) had enough, we asked for our keys back (to the trade). He kept asking us to put more and more down and wouldn’t give us our keys. My husband was about to throttle him and I was ready to scream. The man was ridiculous. He absolutely destroyed any possibility of us ever buying a vehicle from there.

Excellent sales and service

by jfinn42 on 10/10/2013

After mickey mousing with other dealerships for weeks, they just didn't process a woman has her own money and CAN buy a F350 diesel dually, I walked into Town East Ford. My salesman was Jesse Q. I told him what I wanted, test drove the truck, within ten minutes we struck a deal and the truck was purchased. No high pressure, no games, he actually took me as a serious buyer which for some odd reason, other dealerships had not. Their loss, Town East Ford's GAIN. Jesse actually delivered the truck to my home and gave thorough overview on the features of the truck. So pleased with the dealership, I referred my son to Jesse Q. and last month my son purchased a new F250 Platinum Diesel. Again, the same service, Jesse and another salesman drove to his home and helped him with return of a loaner vehicle and delivery of the new truck. Service for my truck (oil changes, tire rotation) has been excellent. After treatment I had received at other dealerships, any Ford's purchased will be at Town East Ford and my salesman will always be Jesse Q.

Don't walk, RUN from this dealership!

by labluebabe on 07/16/2012

Lies. That's about all we heard from Town East Ford. We went in looking for a new SUV and we filled out some paperwork for financing. We left because it would take a bit and they called us and told us WE ARE APPROVED! I asked for how much and what's the APR? They REFUSED to tell me over the phone, said it was confidential and they could only tell me when I was in person at the dealership. That smelled funny - but I figured OK they said we're approved. We went back up there, turns out they only checked our credit and hadn't run any approval at all! He said based on our score we'd be able to get financing no problem - well that is quite a stretch from being told we're fully approved and ready to go. We were also lied to regarding service agreement where we would be able to take our new car to any ford dealership and get oil changes for 2 years - we checked around and the other dealerships said NO that agreement is between you and them only, its NOT a Ford agreement. Not only that, they lied to us about our trade in value by $3k!! Said it was the best they could do, but guess what - we took our car and business to Huffines in Plano instead and we got $3k MORE for trade in value PLUS we had a lot better service and a lower price for a car that had more features! Town East Ford is a total ripoff! Do not waste your time with this dealership!

Never Again

by scrunden on 05/05/2011

I will never set a foot back in Town East Ford again. I will say that both Juan and Karl very very nice and should get out of there before they get screwed over by the others. We brought proof of income to the dealership and their finance department couldn't even read a bank statement. Their price was a joke and offered no rebate to us aswell as offering me way below what our car was worth. I am really surprised that Ford would even have their sign on this dealership

I could never recommend Town East

by wcgraham1 on 09/30/2009

The GM never even apologized for the inconveniences he caused my family and I. Nor did anyone even offer any incentive to keep our business. As you can tell, he completely disregards the mail I sent him. Didn't hear a word I said...he probably didn't even read it. I will never go back here again. Horrible experience...just completely horrible. I could never recommend Town East to anyone. -----Original Message----- From: "Troutman, Jason" [violative content deleted] To: Sent: Tuesday, September 29, 2009 1:40:24 PM Subject: RE: Town East Ford Thanks for the feedback and I will use this as a training tool moving forward. On a positive note, I confirmed that your vehicle will be ready from delivery today at five o'clock. Juan Contreras has sent the vehicle back for a clean-up, and all of the concerns have been handled. Thanks -----Original Message----- From: Sent: Tuesday, September 29, 2009 12:27 PM To: [violative content deleted] Subject: Re: Town East Ford Hi Mr. Troutman, I talked to you last night about the 06 Ford Expedition my wife and I purchased last Wednesday, September 24. For the record, I do plan on writing the Ford Board of Directors in Dearborn, MI to submit a formal complaint and am also having thoughts about writing the Better Business Bureau about our entire experience with Town East. Nearly the entire buying process with you and your team has been much less than satisfactory. Listen, I've never done this before. I've never written a formal complaint to anyone in my life before. Not one. I realize people are human and make mistakes and I give people patience, tolerance and grace where it's needed. But Mr. Troutman, I cannot be silent after dealing with the frustrations, inconveniences, and lack of communication from your team. This has been a very trying experience for me and my family and I could never recommend Town East Ford to anyone I know. To summarize... Your Sales Agent Juan Contreras showed us a couple of vehicles last week and did a great job doing so. He wasn't overly aggressive in his sales approach, he gave me and my wife time to think over the details of the cars he showed us, and he had a great personality throughout. He was very easy to work with. However, as soon as we sat down to talk numbers and finances is when the whole Town East experience began its downward spiral. There were a few items on the 06 Ford Expedition that Town East agreed to fix. Below are those items: - Rear AC did not work - DVD/CD system did not work - 3rd row paneling (behind seat) needed to be replaced/repaired - Coat hanger/hook on 2nd row was broken I was reluctant to sign any paperwork due to the fact that these items weren't in operating condition. Who wants to spend money on something that isn't working? After telling Juan Contreras that we did not want to sign anything, he immediately left the office we were in without notice or forewarning and went to request the help from your Sales Manager, Henry Jackson. As soon as Mr. Jackson came in to further discuss the details, I expressed the same concern with him as I did with Mr. Contreras...I did not want to sign on a car that required repair. My wife and I believed we found a great deal and wanted the vehicle, however we were just not in a position to purchase a vehicle that required an extensive amount of work to done on it before it left your property. Apparently our response did not suit Mr. Jackson, because after much resistance to signing the documents, Mr. Jackson stated, "If you aren't going to sign, then I will send this vehicle to auction". My family and I obviously did not want this to happen, because we really liked the vehicle that was showed to us. So the response from Mr. Jackson did give us second thoughts about signing the paperwork. How could it not? We liked the vehicle but we didn't' want to lose it to auction as Mr. Jacksonstated. That being s
