Easy buying experience

by DryCreek on 10/09/2017

I bought a new 2017 Jaguar XF at Central after losing my car in Hurricane Harvey. It was possibly the most painless buying experience of my life, from the Sonic pricing, to financing, to delivery, a completely seamless, professional experience.

Do not buy here. Deceitful sales practices.

by giroux1 on 08/05/2012

I am in the process of working with the Consumer Protection division of the Attorney General's office to file a claim against this dealership for their deceitful practices which violate our state's fair trade practices act. I am also contacting Jaguar USA about this particular dealership's practices and Kenny Wright in particular as well as their General Manager. BEWARE OF THIS DEALERSHIP - in particular do not deal with KENNY WRIGHT; he engages in deceitful practices. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. They bait and switch. They will show you cars that are under contract with another buyer and let you test drive them even though they are actually unavailable for purchase. Two of the three cars that they told me were available for purchase on Friday night amazingly weren't available on Saturday morning. We went to look at the one remaining car, test drove it, we weren't sure about it so we walked away, 2 hours later changed our minds and expressed our interest. He sent us a condescending email (his whole tone in person and via email is extremely condescending) stating that a magical buyer from out of state had mysteriously resurrected and had made a down payment. It's amazing they were able to get a bank wire transfer for deposit on a Saturday evening from out of state within a two hour period. Very fishy. He is VERY SLIMY. I thought that by buying a used car from a Jaguar/Land Rover dealership that I'd escape some of the yuck factor of buying a used car from a more average dealership. Not the case. This has been the single worst car buying experience of my life. It seems almost as thought they are in the business of NOT wanting to sell you a car. In fact, I'd say he was extremely antagonistic during the whole process. He never even bothered with any semblance of politeness. He was simply downright rude. He also happens to be a [non-permissible content removed] whose clothes are dirty and wrinkled and who doesn't bother shaving before coming to work. [non-permissible content removed]. I could easily get past the physical traits and wouldn't even mention them if he treated his customers with some level of basic manners. I'm surprised Jaguar would let this guy represent the Jaguar name. I tried resolving matters earlier in the process with the General Manager, but he seemed more interested in backing up his Sales Manager than in hearing a customer out. By the way, I had been a loyal customer of this dealership's service department for years and walked in with pre-approved financing (we also could have paid cash but they did not need to know that), so I'm not a random person off the street. Also, if you are a woman do not deal with this dealership. Kenny stikes me as [non-permissible content removed] who holds women in lesser regard. Their Sales Manager KENNY WRIGHT obviously has no respect for himself, so it's not surprising he has no respect for current and potential customers. There is one Jaguar salesman there that was extremely helpful - his name was Rick. At least he was polite to us. There is another girl there on their sales force - Brittany - an Asian girl. She is useless as well and obviously takes her cues from Kenny on how to treat customers. Absolutely worthless, doesn't know the product, but worst of all is every bit as rude as her manager. I do not wish to completely throw this dealership under the bus. They do have an excellent service department headed by Dexter Taylor who has always gone above and beyond in terms of customer service as well as a service consultant, Stephen Almond, whom I've had the pleasure of working with for a few years. I was simply SHOCKED to be treated the way I was by the sales team given the quality of service I've received from their repair team. All this could have been avoided had they simply sold us the used car we went in to buy instead of making up a story about phantom buyers suddenly appearing from out of state. Shame on you. We'll see how the attorney general's office feels about their deceptive practices as well as how Jaguar USA feels about this particular dealership's representation of the Jaguar name. Also, I forgot to mention that they did not disclose two safety issues with the car we were looking at. They were both issues that unless you specifically looked for them you wouldn't likely discover until later on.

No better than any other.

Was interested in a 02 Z06, and after 2 weeks of shopping around, I finally decided to purchase it. I thought some of the paint surfaces where inconsistent with others, so I told the manager I suspect there might be some paint work done to the car. He replied stating that he walked around the car personally and there was no paint work. I hired a non biased third party inspector to look the car over; and he reported the doors, fenders, bumpers, and passenger side skirt have all been painted. I call the salesman to let him know what the mechanic told me, and how fast he went from being my dear friend to a [non-permissible content removed]. "Its a 10 year old car, it had scratches and rock chips so we painted it" Basically implying: "duh everyone knows this is the standard practice." (That's not the story I got from the manager, so what really happened?) What he doesn't realize is by spot painting the car, they have just devalued it. I don't know whether they are covering scratches or an accident. It looks suspicious... Whats going to happen in a few years when I try to sell the car? "Well we would have given you xx,xxx, but now you only get xxxx because it's been painted." That's the exact BS they told me about my trade. I was hoping to negotiate a better price since I will be penalized when the time comes to sell the car, but before I could get a word in the salesman said "If you're not interested than fine." Very professional.... I work hard for my money, I don't sit behind a desk and pretend like I'm someones buddy who has their best interest in mind while thinking of ways to prey on their ignorance to line my pockets. I guess even the higher end dealerships are no better than Landmark. Deception and lies.

Deceitful salesmen. Bad dealership. Stay away.

1) I found one of their listings at cars.com that I was interested in. 2) I called [violative content deleted] - their "direct esales number" - the first time, the wait was over 5 minutes. I hung up. 3) I called again about 20 minutes later. I talked to someone I think that was named Shelly. We talked for a while. She said that she would send me more pictures on this specific car by email and more information. She didn't send the information. 4) I submitted an online request to see the car. 5) At 9:39AM I got a call from [violative content deleted] from a Shelly/Sherri saying the car was available and my appointment would be "on the calendar." 6) That day I spoke with Jennifer Day 3 times on the "live chat system" and was very specific in wanting to make this appointment "easy." I wanted to know whom to ask for when arriving, re-confirm the car was available, and finally, move the appointment from 12:15PM until 11:00AM. At about 10:45AM, she told me 1) the car was available, 2) When arriving ask for "Dana." 7) When my wife arrived at the dealership, less than 20 minutes after I disconnected from Jennifer Day, she learned that a) The car is pending sale (not available for sale) b) "Dana" doesn't work at the dealership, so asking for her to show her the car didn't work. c) The car was not at the location. So - the lesson is - don't believe Jaguarhoustoncentral com - because when it looks like they have a deal, they're probably lying to you.
