onI had seen a vw gti on auto trader that I was very interested in. When I went to test drive the vehicle I did not bring my trade in, as I only wanted to test drive the car, not make a purchase. My original plan was to check out different cars at different dealers, but once I got on the road, I knew it was going to be my car. During the rest drive, my salesman Jay was more eager for me to really push the car to its limits than I was. "Drive like you normally would" is what he kept telling me. He also said, "It's okay if you want to go faster" and "Why don't you try to get in front of this vehicle?" Once we returned to the dealership, it only took a few minutes for him to come up with an offer. My trade in vehicle was a 2006 Ford Escape XLT. It was in very good condition, but had some minor rust damage on one wheel well. Jay initially explained that without having my old vehicle with me it might be difficult to come up with an accurate trade in value for it. I understood, but when he offered me $2000 for the vehicle I was a little put off. KBB for it was $6k through a private buyer, $4k through a dealer. He returned to the financial department with my disappointment, but returned a few minutes later almost doubling his initial offer! Needless to say, I did purchase the GTI and traded in the Escape. As I was going over some extra options with the financial department, Paul, the GM of the dealership stepped into the office. He personally thanked me for purchasing through them, and then proceeded to tell me how much fun the vehicle is to drive, as he had taken it home himself the other night. Some people may have found that offputting, but the GTI IS a blast to drive! I had offered to drive the Escape back to the dearlership the next day, without taking the GTI with me (I drove my boyfriends truck to the dealer) but Jay was so adament that I take home my new car that he himself followed me in the GTI about 20 minutes to my house. He waited very patiently while I took my dog out, and then clean out my trade in. He switched my license plates for me, and even helped me double check the Escape for any forgotten items. And that was it! It only took a couple of hours, and I didn't put a penny down on my 2012 VW GTI. Jay called me a couple days later to make sure I was still 100% happy with my purchase and I am! I would definitely purchase another vehicle through this dealer, and this salesman, and recommend anyone I know looking for a vehicle to Low Country VW. They treated me with absolutely no pressure whatsoever, allowed me to speak to my boyfriend, my insurance company, and other dealers before I committed to buying from them, and the fact that Jay followed me to my house so I didn't have to return to the dealership at all. He also dropped my Escape registration off at my job the day after. You definitely want to buy from these guys! Its all about going above and beyond, and LowCountry VW hits the stars!
