Planet Suzuki Buyer Beware
Written by leftysueone on 06/05/2011
I agree with the previous reviewer's assessment of Planet Suzuki. They are completely unprofessional and don't treat the customer well at all. My wife and I were in the market for a preowned Toyota Matrix to replace her Matrix after she was involved in an accident. I found one at Planet Suzuki online. We went into the dealership. We looked at the car I found on line, and liked it. We began the negotiation. We had a novice for a salesman. This is ok. Everyone has to start somewhere. He was cordial to begin with. As we negotiated, I asked for a few simple things. The rear side body panels were loose for some reason. They agreed to repair. There were no floor mats. We asked for floor mats. Sarcastically, the salesguy told me he'd add the floor mats but remove two of the new tires. In retrospect, I should have walked out at that point. There are plenty of used cars out there. We stayed. He told my wife and I that there was a 2nd set of keys in the other office for the car, once the paperwork was signed. Once the paperwork was signed, he denied he said it. The dealership owner contacted me at this point. I pointed out this, the fact that the odometer reset button was broken off, and that one of the locking mechanisms for the spare tire was missing. The owner was pompous telling me that the salesguy should never have promised floormats, and that if he promised them and a key that didn't exist, the salesguy would pay for them. I told the owner that really wasn't my issue. As for the spare tire lock, they said they would order it for me. They never got back to me. As for the odometer trip reset button, while another associate told me it wouldn't be a problem to repair, the owner told me that if it was an issue, I should just return the car for a refund because it was too large a repair for him to undertake on a used car sale. I got the floormats, and they made a spare key but not a key fob as was promised before we made the purchase. The excuse I was given was that they wouldn't authorize it. It was too expensive. I just don't understand how car dealerships like these stay in business. Sleazy. It's too bad because I am in the market for a car now, and had they treated us well, I would have turned to Planet Suzuki for my next car purchase. Instead I write this negative review, and wouldn't drive buy the place muchless buy another car from them. I just don't understand why decent car salespeople are the exception rather than the rule. It's disgusting that you have to dread a process that involves such a large investment. My recommendation: Stay away from Planet Suzuki in Charlotte. The owner is more concerned about himself than the customer.
