Never received second key for CPO vehicle

by JohnS on 01/13/2021

Bought a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle (which promises two keys) but at pick-up the sales rep could not find the second key. I was told it may take some additional time to procure the key because of the pandemic, but it has been over 9 months. I was given numerous assurances that they would resolve the issue, and have been promised several callbacks and never received one. The only time they have contacted me since is to try and sell me another car as soon as I booked service for this one.

Ricky and sales team are decietful

by amirsank on 05/24/2018

I leased a Jetta from Jack Daniels VW and it was the worst mistake of my life. My experience with Ricky and his sales manager was very stressful and left me feeling taken advantage of. We agreed to a price then they take you into a back room and next thing you know the price is 50% more then what you agreed to after I already took the insurance off my previous lease. The brand new car wouldn't start 3 months into it and they wouldn't do anything about it. They told me they would roll in the payments from my previous lease into the new lease but they never did leaving me with an unexpected $1000 expense 6 months later. They never gave me an inspection sticker leaving me to get a ticket from the cops and having to waste my only day off at the DMV. I hate Jack Daniels VW, Ricky from sales, and the sales managers. Please do yourself a favor and go to another VW dealer. Thanks, Amir

Stay away if your looking for trust worthy people

by scorexx on 06/02/2017

I had been planning on purchasing a used vehicle from jack daniels vw in fair lawn nj, I ended up buying the car, but there are some things that i regret. Ryan who was my sales agent mis led me with information and when i brought it up with higher management they told me that he shouldnt have said this information first. When i then went ahead and brought it to their general manager they all claimed ignorance as if it had never happened. I went into this dealership to buy a $55,000 used vehicle. The car drove great and were no mechanical problems (yet). Once i signed the paper work and had purchased extra warranty i realized a couple of things. First, the car had barely any gas in it (25 miles remaining) Second, the car did not receive a car wash and was filthy and dusty.Third, the cars windshield whippers were completely town apart. Finally, the tires were dry rotten which is a safety hazard. When i approached Ryan about these problems he told me not to worry as i had purchased the warranty and it would be covered. To my surprise when i returned the following week management had told me that what Ryan said was wrong and that i would not be receiving any of the states above things. I had purchased their highest valued car on the lot and didn't even receive a tank of gas or a clean car. Going back and forth between management and Ryan just led me to higher frustrations as they both claimed that Ryan had never told me any of that information and if it wasnt in the contract than they are not going to do any work to my car. So, i got no car wash, no gas in the car, no windshield whippers, and dry rotten tires. Overall it would have been a great experience if they had not gone back on what they had told me and lured me into buying this vehicle my misrepresenting their company and what they would be offering. I do not recommend you buy a new or used vehicle here as they mislead information and are not the trust worthy dealership i had thought they were.

Stay Away

by RiverT on 07/23/2015

I was hit by someone a few week ago. Repairs are more than the car is worth and came to Jack Daniels to see 1 of 4 cars in 3 dealerships in the area. The sales person was good and did his job. When he couldn't answer a question about damage to the car he would get another member of the sales team, Greg. I believe Greg King Jr is his full name. He looked at it and said he would have to have it looked at. After back and forth he said they would fix it to me and told my wife they would take care of it. The car drives well but, has expesive damage that concerned me. I came back and worked out a deal for the repaired car Greg told me about. Everything seemed going well but, I did not have info about the repair. I sold my car and they started the paper work. Greg was having the car checked a 3rd time regarding the repair. They pulled me in for signing the paper work and when I came out my first question was about the repair. Greg immediately changed it to he was not fixing it it was being buffed. The damage is far too much to buff out. And I have nothing in writing regarding the repairs. I was not happy. I drove back the following day and picked up where I left off. Andre Tobar the sales manager came over, gave me his card and told me to call in a few hours, he will look into it all for me. I called twice that day and 2 more times the following day. He has yet to return any of my calls. I show up and they say they need another day. Saturday the sales person calls and says that Monday they will check out the car. I call Andre 2 more times Monday, still no reply from him. I show up and they say Thursday. I think I'm being lead along now. Avoid yourself the headache and go to another dealership. Jack Daniels VW in NJ is going down hill. They will not honor their word, leaving you in debt and having to repair their subpart cars.

Totally positive experience

by MoniD on 06/10/2015

I had a totally positive experience. Scott Zukowski and Darlene Keats were absolutely fantastic. Darlene took her time to understand what I want during our initial phone conversation. We only scheduled the visit once she knew they had the car on the lot. She ended up being tied up by a dude who was 5 hours late for his appointment. She asked Scott to assist – meaning she cut herself out of the deal so that I do not have to wait. Scott was already briefed and simply listened. Not once was I pressured into a deal. Once Scott knew they had the car I want on the lot we went for a test drive. There were no delays during the deal-making either. Scott did not make me wait more than 10 - 15 min. I drove out in a great VW Golf Sportwagen and I was totally happy with the price. There were no tricks with the fees. All were clearly explained. I declined what I did not want. I took what I want and I paid what I had to pay. Disclaimer: I knew what I want. I knew it was stupid to “talk numbers” on the phone. I knew (thanks to Edmunds) how much the fees will be for NJ. I knew what a fair deal would look like. If you believe in zero-sum games you just wasted time reading this. If you want a good deal that leaves you happy, then give them a call. On that rainy afternoon I saw two more families driving out that lot. They looked happy to me. I am still happy. (Just to be sure – that is all about Jack Daniels VW in Fairlawn NJ)

Unhappy

by Cooper1234 on 06/08/2015

I would not recommend this dealer. Multiple times now I have been told that they can meet me at the price that I want and for a third time I have gotten a call saying.. yes, I spoke with my manager and we can definitely get the price where you need it. When can you come in? ..And for a third time, like an idiot, I have gone in and wasted hours of my time to find out that they are quoting me at a price that is a couple hundred dollars more than what I was told. I do not appreciate the lies and ploys to get the customer in the door. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Bait & Switch

by vwguy3 on 05/31/2015

I'm a VW driver of more than 20 years' standing. I called the Jack Daniels showroom to request a price for a specific Jetta model and options during their May 2015 sale. I was put in touch with a salesman, David Li. He gave me a satisfactory number, and asked that I put down a $500 deposit to "hold the price" since the sale I was taking advantage of "ended tomorrow" (it actually ended the two days later). He also told me that he could offer me a Passat with the same options for the same price. Since my wife and I needed the vehicle, I made a special trip (about 25 miles) to put down the deposit. When I arrived, I met with Mr. Li and we reviewed the figures he'd given me; I could see that he'd previously written down the exact specifications I'd given him on his legal pad. He told me that he could offer me the Passat, but for a much higher price. I told him that I therefore wouldn't consider it. He then told me that the Jetta figures he'd quoted me were for a base model, and that what I wanted would cost much more. When I told him that was unacceptable, he went to get his manager, Greg King Jr. Greg tried to talk me into accepting a lower priced model that would meet the cost figure they'd previously given me. I refused, and Greg said he'd look into it further and promised to "email (you) later today". After I didn't receive an email from him, I emailed him. He responded by saying that he'd spoken with his manager, Andre Tobar, and that they would not stand by their original offer. I asked to speak with Andre and was told that I could speak with him the day after the sale ended. When I pointed out that futility of that gesture, I received a email from Andre with his showroom telephone number. I called him, but was told that "he'd just left for the day". I asked for an alternate contact number, and sent Andre an email asking him to call me, but of course I never heard back. Jack Daniels Volkswagen of Fair Lawn NJ runs a classic bait & switch operation, and I foolishly fell for it by wasting my time going to their showroom. Why some car dealers act as though it's still 1950 when all of the information about them and their cars is available online is beyond me. Don't waste your time here; the salespeople and managers here are an insult to your intelligence and have absolutely no respect for you.

Too good to be true

by anlee on 06/03/2011

i encounter this dealer from carwoo. Everything is smooth and cool, get the price I wanted, but wait until the day they hand me the contract... adam says: you know what.. things change, the deal no longer available, do you still want it? After spent 14 days dealing with this guy. So, the lesson is: stay away from this one. If you don't want to waste your time. You never know what they come up with in the last minutes. What else is wrong with this dealer? 1) not trustworthy: can you stand the "things change.." attitude?, 2) very slow response time: they don't seem to want your business, I have called and email and got no response for 5 days and finally, he said, I've been trying to reach you everyday, wow, what a [violative content deleted], 3) play games: they actually make up story of a conversation that you never have with them, and says: I told you so. Please stay away! You are delusional for the good price they offer you!

If the sales process starts like this

by mmergen on 03/14/2011

Bill the sales man kept evading my questions, I gave exact specifications, and he was unable/unwilling to give me a price, I felt offended that he quoted me MSRP saying that it was a rare vehicle. I asked specifically for a "purchase price" . Bill then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to lease, finance or pay cash. I gave him one more chance to give me his best price and stop playing games. If this is how the sales experience starts, how will the rest of the experience go. There are several other dealers who had no problem quoting me a price via email. that is where I will take my business.

Good Sales Rep BUT HORRIBLE FINANCING SERVICE

by thh0118 on 02/27/2010

I went in to grab a Rabbit and to come off an early lease of the GTI and the sales rep, Pascal was spectacular. He tried every way to be on my side to close a deal in a sincere way. I was ready and went to the financing room to sign papers and what a total disaster. The financing lady, Sarah, don't even want to know her last name, was the [violative content deleted] I've ever met. She was this [violative content deleted]. She had no knowledge of specific questions I've asked about and when I declined of ridiculous extra fees they were trying to dump on me, she made it sound like I was at fault and being dumb for not complying. This [violative content deleted] needs to be at a reception desk but then again [violative content deleted]. Those of you that are in the area trying to grab a vw, definitely ask for Pascal, but please aske to be directed with NON-SARAH financing once you're ready to close the deal. [violative content deleted]. Bottom line, I'M NEVER GOING BACK TO THIS DEALER AGAIN.
