I love Subaru of Cherry Hill!

by GeorgeL on 10/21/2020

First time I bought a new car in many years and Subaru of Cherry Hill made it all very easy. Process started with their excellent website where I was able to narrow my search. Once at the dealership, no pressure, showed me the car I was interested in (2020 Forester Sport) and let me take a long, leisurely test drive. All the paperwork for purchase and financing went very smoothly. Delivery expert gave me a crash-course in the car's operation and technology and has invited me back for a follow-up. Everyone there very friendly, expert, professional and customer-focused. Great experience!

Buyer Be Ware

by seacrmo on 02/20/2013

Buyer Beware!!!! 02 WRX wagon The car is full of cosmetic issues, the interior clock doesnt work, the drivers side mirror was replace but does not match the rest of the car, when my test drive was over the engine was smoking! DO NOT shop at Cherry Hill Subaru! The sales staff are full of double talk and full retail price is their mission. The management is even worse. They do not care what you have to say and backs the salesmen 100%. Completely disrepectful in ever possible way! They only care about selling cars and not about caring for the customers concerns.

My first Subaru

by businessmedia2 on 07/26/2010

My son and I were on our way to the shore on a Sunday afternoon when we passed the Subaru dealership on 70. He pointed out a sporty little blue sedan that he informed me was a Subaru sti. Being as I know his passion for cars, I decided to pull into the dealership so he could take a look at it. As soon as we parked, he jumped right out and ran to go look at the car. As I started to follow, something caught my eye. I have never been familiar with the Subaru brand as our family had been Chevy and Ford for over 20 years, but this gorgeous sparkling green car was love at first sight. I called my son over to ask him what kind of car this was and he informed me it was called the Legacy. Well to make a long story short, My son and I came back on Monday to inquire about the car. Upon walking in, I was a bit nervous because I was expecting the stereotypical badgering car salesmen. However I was courteously greeted by Charles. I told him about the Legacy I had seen the previous day but that I didn't know to much about Subaru vehicles. He was more than knowledgeable in answering my questions and guiding me along the right path to where I needed to be. Once I had returned from driving the car I knew I had fallen in love. ( I now see why they say "it's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.). This was the car for me. Charles was great at keeping my son and I comfortable and at ease during the entire negotiation process. I definitely will be purchasing my next new Subaru from this dealership.

Beware fraud / scams. READ CAREFULLY!

by thinkhard on 08/19/2009

Unlawful / Fraudulent practices: Caught red-handed. Attempting to participate in the "Cash For Clunkers" program with a fully qualified and verified "clunker". We made a deal, and in signing the papers, they attempted to sip in their own little document making ME responsible for the $4,500 dealer rebate. I caught it. They then tried to hand me yet ANOTHER piece of paper. THIS one they assured me was directly from the Feds, and a required part of the program. It was CLEARLY a modified form, with additional wording added by the DEALER, and photocopied, which basically stated the same thing, attmepting to make the BUYER responsible. I caught that one too, and now informmed them that this was unlawful. Nick, the manager, insisted it was a federal form. (which I still have in my posession.) Now, I'm not stupid. I've done my homework, and I have already seen every required form. On the CARS.GOV website, they SPECIFICALLY state that there is NO such buyer requirement, and nothing like that should be signed, and that ANY dealer attempting to do so should be reported to the NHTSA. (which I did) Further, trying to save the deal, they offered to sign the deal, but NOT deliver my vehicle until they had gotten their rebate. AGAIN, this is specifically forbidden under the CARS.GOV program, which explicity states that the dealer MUST let the customer take the car immediately. Period. For the fraudulent federal form, they have been reported to the Federal Trade Comission as well as NHTSA. Now tell me... WHY would a dealer take a guy like me who NEVER buys new cars, make a deal, and then bend over backwards to try to rip them off at the last minute? We were 5 minutes away from a finalized deal, and not only did they flush it down the toilet, but to that, they add a WHOLE lot of mistrust, bad feelings, and the obvious fact that I will relate these details to friends, family, co-workers, and the Internet. I've never purchased a new car before, and all the horror stories I've heard throughout the years is one of the key reasons. THAT is why I was so careful at signing, and caught them. TWICE!! I see now that I should have followed my instincts, and simply searched out a safe and reputable private sale as I normally do, by-passing all of these shoddy dealer practices. Shame on you, Cherry Hill Subaru.

the warranty switcheroo game

by 7vegas11 on 08/19/2009

When we were negotiating our deal on a 2007 WRX with Rich, we kept emphasizing that we wanted a warranty that would be good for the life of the loan, which was going to be 6 years. He said that he would have to check with the finance department to see how much the warranty would cost. He informed us that the warranty would run $2200, but that we could work that into the overall price we were going to pay and that he was basically giving us a 6year/100000 mile warranty worth $2200 for free. When we got into the room with Donald who was going to handle the financing paperwork etc, he wanted us to sign the agreement, but we noticed that it did not mention a 6year/100000 mile warranty worth $2200 anywhere on the form. What it did mention was "service contract" and the price it showed next to it was $650 or there abouts (it was definitely under $700). Donald informed us that this was the warranty. I said, well it does really specify anything, and it is only showing an amount that is less than a third of what we were told it was worth. So he says, if it makes you happy, I'll write it on there. And then he wrote "6year/100000 mile warranty beginning with the date of original purchase." I asked, what do you mean by the "date of original purchase". And he informed me that the 6 years begins with the date that the original owner bought the car back in 2007, and since they bought the car in April/May of 2007, that the warranty would run until April/May of 2013. Didn't I understand why they call it an "extended" warranty. I informed him that we had negotiated a warranty for the life of the loan, which would be until August of 2015. He picked up the phone and called someone, and said "didn't anybody explain an extended warranty to these people". Rich came in, and we told him that we had negotiated a warranty for the life of the loan. Then they proceed to tell us that this is the best warranty that they can offer us for this vehicle. We tell them that we need time to think about this now, because this is not the warranty we were negotiating for. We try to get up and leave, and then the show begins. Donald is all upset because we don't understand what the word "extended" means. The manager Nick grandstands that if we walk out now, the deal is off the table forever. Rich is trying to be my best friend (good cop/bad cop) , and tells me that as great as these cars are, I really don't need any warranty at all, and I should take the car. The next morning, Abe calls, and tells me that he can offer me a warranty on the car for not only 6 years, but for 7 years from the date of our purchase. I tried to pin him down as to whether this would be the same bumper to bumper warranty that we were told did not exist and that they could not do the very night before; and he told me not to worry and put Rich on the phone. I asked Rich how come today there is a 7 year warranty (good through 2016) when there was no such animal the night before. He informed me that he did not know they were available (I guess Donald didn't know either). So just to make sure I understand what the warranty is, especially since I was so stupid the night before, I sent Abe an email and asked: if this was a 7year/100000 mile warranty good through 2016 and covering bumper to bumper and good at any Subaru dealership. This way, when he responds, I will have it in writing. But, Abe never responded to my email................................................... The car has since been sold to someone else. I wonder if they got a warranty?

Lies

by straighttalk on 07/30/2009

You know how Cherry Hill Subaru's website says "The only deal we can't beat is the one we don't know about!!"? It's NOT TRUE. We got a really strong email price quote on a 2010 Silver Forester Premium from [another dealership]. Before going there we stopped at Cherry Hill because they had a Paprika Red on their lot (the color I'd prefer) and they advertise on their website and told us TWICE over the phone that they would match any better price we have in writing from a competitor. The sales manager, Nick, told us, "all you need to do is bring in the email quote and we'll match it." Turns out that was not true. They wouldn't match the price because, they said, they couldn't be sure the email from [the other dealership] wasn't bogus! Which is just their way of deflecting the blame for breaking their promise to match the price that we received in good faith from their fellow dealer. Tonight we head to [the other dealership], where we should have gone in the first place. Hopefully at [the other dealership] they understand the importance of keeping your promises.
