Opinions are relative to expectations!

by NjTouchdown on 09/09/2014

I didn't walk in the dealer thinking that I was going to find the car I love and they were just going to give it away. Society is bread to assume the car buying experience is terrifying, however they go in without considering reality and the complications of managing a retail business. Face it, nobody wants to play the game but personally I was in the business 10 plus years ago and know the benchmark of service expected by sales. To the point, I walked into the dealer last week to help a friend that knew what he wanted and we were prepared. We didn't get the exact spectacular deal we were hoping for but the bottom line is it was a rare find yet we were able to negotiate a fair deal and both parties were relatively happy. Couldn't have been better for either one unless the they were able to get a huge score or we were able to pin them against the wall and take every ounce of revenue away from them which quite honestly is not ethical to begin with. They did a great job prepping the car, didn't attempt to over upsell on products that were not to my friends best interest and we all walked away happy. Furthermore, John the manager knew the gem he had on the lot but still made sacrifices to make my buddy happy. He went as far as contacting the previous owner and negotiating a unbelievable deal on a full set of winter tires and wheels for the car. This was going the extra mile that I look for on the sales service side and in my educated and vast experience in the industry this was unexpected yet well appreciated. If you walk into a dealer and don't consider their point of view and what is equitable to both parties then you are greedy or relatively out of your league and should look at something less expensive. All in all Manager John had a great personality as well as the salesman Ted whom went out of his way to deliver the car on his day off even though his family had plans to spend time together down the shore. I can assure you I am the furthest thing from a push over and I am the go to guy for many friends and family members when considering the purchase of a vehicle and the best approach. Up until this point it has been a very positive experience and as much as I would rather them take a loss and me get the better deal I also respect their position and their need to capitalize on their inventory opportunities, service, warranties and requirement to think about what's best for their business while also considering what's fair to their clients. Face it, many people are unreasonable and expect the red carpet to be rolled out but the truth is the market is what it is and so long as the dealer follows through on their word (which they inexplicably did) then you should respect them! Kudos to cherry hill Audi, John and Ted!!

Buyer beware, dishonest and unethical manager/sales professionals.

by rarexair on 08/18/2014

On August 18, 2014 I called Porsche of Cherry Hill on a pre-owned BMW M5 they have listed for sale. As some background, I am a big car enthusiast calling from Los Angeles and have bought numerous cars out of state before. On my initial conversation I spoke with pre-owned sales manager Michael G whom then transferred me to sales consultant Steve S. I initially wanted to get more information as I found out the particular M5 they were selling was in an accident before. Manager Michael told me that the vehicle had rear ended someone years ago and the majority of the front clip was replaced. Michael informed me that Steve took the vehicle in on trade and can give me more information on the M5. When asked about the accident Steve gave me a different account as to what happened and what was replaced. A bit hesitant I told Steve that I would want to get the car inspected before I purchase but sent a offer as to what I would pay given the condition is as they described. Steve sent me a few photos of the vehicle and after getting a bit more information on the vehicle I committed with an offer which he told me he will present to his manager Michael G. Five minutes later Steve called me back and informed me that his manager Michael had agreed to sell me the vehicle for my offer and to schedule an inspection. He said they wanted an immediate deposit via credit card/wire transfer and for me to fill out the Credit Card Authorization. After arranging for my PPI at a nearby independent Southampton BMW facility, Steve texted me informing me that his manager Michael decided to backed out of the deal. Once I got this information I was confused what was going on. I immediately called and was on hold for a receptionist for 5 minutes. I finally got through and was on hold for Michael for about 10 minutes and got bounced back to the receptionist. I left a message for Michael to call me back which never happened so I called back and this time left a message with him. With no response I then called back a few hours later and was on hold for about 20 minutes to get ahold of Michael. Another side note, what dealership keeps a client on hold for so long? I've never waited so long to even get ahold of a receptionist. When I finally got ahold of Michael he informed me that Steve never presented a offer to him and we never had a deal, he told me that I must have mistaken the deposit agreements for, "securing the vehicle so we can then negotiate a price on it." I have never heard of anyone leaving a $1,000.00 deposit to negotiate a deal on a car I was ready to pay cash on, this is just insulting to hear from a manager. It's completely unacceptable and unprofessional that a dealership on this caliber could be so dishonest and play games with their customers. I would suggest anyone buying a new or used car from Porsche of Cherry Hill to be extremely cautious and look elsewhere especially if you're looking to buy a Porsche or any other car. Beware of their pre-owned cars as well to make sure they haven't been involved in any accidents. Remember this is coming from a Porsche owner/enthusiast as well (PCA, Rennlist, 6SpeedOnline) and I've dealt with numerous Porsche dealers in my area. Maybe the integrity of the East Coast dealerships is different but I can reassure you that dealerships especially managers would take issues like this much more seriously here, let alone give customers poor excuses.

Glass half empty or half full

Sales is great and the salesman really tries to work with you. But service is spotty at best. Bought a CPO car, needed some minor touch up. The repairs were not up the Audi fit and finish and no one in service caught it, even though there were other areas that needed attention . 300 pt inspection was done to certify car, but was down a qt of oil as I drove off. No license plate bracket was included even though state requires one. Called that sales man, who never got back to me. Would up buying after market bracket. Overall most everything worked out, but quite a bit of aggravation for a car that cost $$$

After emails and calls we had negotiated a price for an audi that I had driven at the dealership. I waited for a call back to go finish the deal and received no call back. I left messages and sent email and no response. We have never been treated this badly with any dealership or any vendor we have ever worked with.

The Worst Dealership I've ever Dealt With - Avoid at all costs.

by rstoer on 10/05/2008

My experience would take too long to detail... Sufice to say that I'm 61years old and have bought my share of new and used cars over the years (including four Audi's). In all that time I have never been treated so poorly by a dealership as I was by Cherry Hill Audi. Lies and Bait & Switch tactics seem the norm for this dealership. I finally walked out and found a nice A6 elsewhere which Im very happy with.

Astoundingly bad experience

by slimtae on 09/16/2007

I have tried for over a month to obtain an Audi Q7 from two different dealerships. The first dealership was a complete fiasco (see my review on Atlantic Audi). Cherry Hill Imports was even worse. I cannot go into detail every issue I have had with them, but here is a run-down of what they have done to me. 1). They took a deposit of $2000 and promised me a specific car with the features I wanted. They took $3000 off the MSRP. After taking the deposit, they told me the car was not available. 2). They then promised me another vehicle, similarly equipped, and promised me they would give me the same $3000 discount. They tell me my new monthly payments on the car would only be $14 more than the initial car, and after some prodding, admitted to me that it was based on only $2000 off MSRP (not the original $3000 as they promised). Like an idiot, I acquiesced. 3). They tell me initally that this new car is "in port", meaning it was already docked at some receiving facility and that I should get it very shortly. I tell them specifically that I do not want to wait weeks for this car. They assure me I won't. One month later, I still don't have the car. Apparently, the car was still on a cargo ship somewhere out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean when they told me it was "in port". I had to call Audi of America to get this information because my sales guy said there was "no way" for anyone to trace the exact whereabouts of this car (am I supposed to believe that no one knows the exact whereabouts of a car worth $60,000). 4). I threaten to cancel the deal on a Monday if I don't get the car soon. They say come in Thursday evening to pick it up. On Thursday afternoon, just hours before my pick-up time, they tell me the car was arriving late and they would need more time to prep it. Could I come in now on Saturday? Now I am very suspicious and warn them again, I am on the verge of cancelling this deal. They assure me I will have it by 1PM Saturday. Again, like an idiot, I agree. 5). Friday evening, they call me and now they want to push back my delivery time on Saturday to 4PM. I ask the sales guy pointedly and directly.....is everything OK? Is everything in order? I didn't like how this was shaping up. He laughs confidently and says, "Yes...of course". 6). On Saturday afternoon.....TWO HOURS before my pick-up time, they call and tell me that they would not be able deliver the car to me at all that day. Apprently, the "wrong car" was delivered. I stormed into their dealership and took back my deposit. Even then, the sales guy have the nerve to ask me to wait a little longer because this time, the car was really, really coming in. Unbelievable. Now I realize that things happen beyond anyone's control....but they supposedly had this vehicle on their lot for three days, they were supposedly "prepping" it for me, and I am supposed to believe that they all of a sudden realized that it was the wrong car.....a mere two hours before delivery time? They never had this car in the first place, and when I pointedly asked them if everything was in order, they told me point blank "yes".....a blantant lie. The only thing that angers me more than the way this dealership dealt with me was my own stupidity in allowing them to string me along for this long. I know every dealership is in business for one thing, and one thing only, and that is to make money. But treating a customer this way is not only reprehensible, it's also a stupid business move. This car would have been my second Audi, but now when I see one on the road I am filled with disgust because of the bad memory it evokes. They have probably lost a lifetime customer, fortunately for me, Audi is not the only luxury automobile company around. There are plenty of others to choose from. I could almost guarantee that I will be able to dissuade at least a few of my friends and colleagues at work to avoid this dealership in the future.
