RE: Consumer Complaint / False Advertising & Bait

by BrianMail on 02/16/2016

In the search to purchase a new vehicle for our daughter Megan, my wife Nancy & I researched on 2/12/16 an advertised sale on the website of Kingdom Kia in Rolla, MO for a new 2015 Kia Optima LX offered at $16,860 (see attached printout from website still available as of 2/16/16 at 11:49a - http://www.kingdomkia.com/VehicleDetails/new-2015-Kia-Optima-4dr_Sdn_LX-Rolla-MO/2597904833). Interested, we placed a phone call on 2/12/16 at 2:23p and spoke with Brittany Guerrette who is the Kingdom Kia Internet Sales Manager. We spoke at length with her about this vehicle, confirmed availability, pricing, options, rebates offered, etc. Brittany wanted to verify everything with the floor sales manager, so she offered to call us back once everything was confirmed. She called us back 2/12/16 at 3:07p and confirmed availability of the new black Kia Optima 4DR SDN LX for $16,860 and that we qualified for all the rebates shown/offered. She also said that she had availability of a white 2016 Kia Optima LX with the features we were interested just rolling off a truck and still shrink-wrapped that they would offer for the same rebates making the car $16,830 out the door. We were also interested in this vehicle, and Brittany said she would verify the deal and availability with Damon Bartz, the floor Sales Manager). Brittany called back 2/12/16 at 5:32p and said she confirmed with Damon availability of both vehicles at the confirmed prices shown above. We made an appointment for the next morning 2/13/16 at 10:00a and Brittany emailed us a confirmation (see attached). The next morning on 2/13/16 at 9:33a, I called and spoke with Brittany to confirm both cars were available for us to test drive, re-confirmed the pricing, and verified we would be driving from Ozark MO to Rolla MO to test-drive/purchase the advertised black 2015 Kia Optima LX. She confirmed and said she was looking forward to seeing us that morning. With my wife and daughter, we took off work and the three of us drove the 125 miles to Rolla, was met by Damon Bartz the Sales Manager. After introductions, he immediately said he wouldn’t honor the deal on the 2016 white Kia Optima and preceded to hard-sale us on a new 2016 Kia Optima for $21,470, $4,610 more than the price we had agreed on. We asked to see the other negotiated deal 2015 black Kia Optima shown on the internet (attached and still offered on their internet as of 2/16/16) for $16,860, and after waiting 30 minutes for Damon to come back, he said that car was not available to sell as it was a “service vehicle.” Damon then tried to hard sell us on a used 2011 Kia Credenza with 40K miles that he said he could negotiate the price to get it in our ball-park. We re-asked multiple times about the either of the deals that Brittany confirmed with us and Damon said he would not honor the 2016 deal as it meant he would be selling below his cost. I asked to speak with Brittany and/or to have her come out from the back to speak with us and at least apologize to us, and Brett said “well, that’s not gonna happen.” Brett then asked us to leave the dealership with a parting statement of “…and don’t come back.” Note we purchased a new vehicle from this dealership back in July 2013, and that sales transaction went smoothly. The current Sales Manager Damon and Internet sales manager Brittany are the new crop of deceptors in this dealership. I would recommend everyone stay clear until these managers are fired/replaced.

Managers are [non-permissible content removed]

by OJGomez on 11/15/2015

We received a promotional flyer in the mail stating huge incentives for new and used cars, so we went there to see. On the lot we were greeted by Erik, who was professional and curteous. He answered all our questions and we left the dealership with two possible vehicles to purchase. A few days later I was looking at those two cars on their web page and saw that one of them was eligible for additional incentives under their "Halloween Spooktacular Savings Event" but the offer expired on October 31, 2015 and it stated to call Brittany for more details. I called and was told that the additional incentives were dependant on credit rating and that if I come in I should ask for Damion, so I went back to have my credit ran in order to see what additional incentives I qualify for. Erik meet us there but told us that that promotion did not apply. I asked to speak to a manager who told me that the incentive meant that the car would soon be going to auction on October 31st. After hearing 3 different versions I asked to speak to Damon, who was a manager. Damon said he had no idea what that promotion was, and then admitted to my wife that he "does half a** work." I had been previously warned that this dealership is notorious for making false offers to get you in the door and then back peddle out of them. This dealership is a pure scam from the management level on down.

Worse car-buying experience ever! Unprofessional and unethical!

by barcostyle on 04/22/2011

Let me start by saying this is not directed at the unfortunate sales people that work there rather at their management driven approach at unethical business. I have purchased over a dozen vehicles in the last 15 years and have to say this is the worse car buying experience I have ever had. It began on a Saturday, when we went to look at a Sportage. They did not have the model or color we wanted, so they agreed to locate on Monday and call us back. By 3pm Monday I had not heard anything but found the vehicle at several St. Louis dealers. I obtained the dealer info, stock number, and VIN for the vehicle and called Kingdom, who had not done anything to find my vehicle. After an hour they called and said they had the vehicle and were ready to finalize the deal. I told them I would be in on Wednesday after work. Wednesday after work, I went to the dealer (35 miles away) and they did not have the vehicle, had not coordinated with the dealership for the vehicle (I knew this because I was conversing with the St. Louis dealer, who stated they would not dealer trade this vehicle because of its popularity and my interest.) Their idea of presenting me with a deal to finalize was by offering me 2000 over MSRP, and 6000 below trade on my vehicle with a 1231 monthly payment on a (34000 financed). Note I already had financing from local bank at their best rate. I also had a USAA certificate guaranteeing me the vehicle for 220 below invoice at 30200. WHAT A DEAL! I arrived at the dealer at 6pm, and I sat waiting for this outstanding deal that came at 7:20pm. I laughed at the deal and told them exactly what I was willing to accept. USAA price for the vehicle and 2000 below trade value on my trade with my financing. They came back with the right trade amount, increased the vehicle price by 4000 with a payment of 701/month, which translated into about 16%. This was the end of negotiations. I have been around the block when it comes to buying cars and recommend to anyone considering a Kia in this area to drive the 2 hours to St. Louis. Understand that this dealer does not have competition and is tailored towards a rural community that does not have much of a choice. Also, with a military community within 40 miles, they have plenty of lower steady incomes and a demographic that does not fully understand the intricacies of car buying. They are taking advantage of lower enlisted military personnel and local rural financially disadvantaged people. My motivation for the new Kia Sportage Turbo was because my wife an I like the way it looks and wanted a vehicle that was fuel efficient to use for road trips. The vehicle we were trying to trade was a 2009 Buick Enclave, obviously a different class, however Kia is up and coming and wanted to give it a chance. Amazingly, I have 3 St. Louis dealers interested in my business offering 1000 below trade value and honoring USAA pricing. Stay away from this place. They are unprofessional and pride on taking advantage of the local community. As a military member, Fort Leonard Wood perssonnel STAY AWAY!!!!! You save thousands by going to St. Louis. They will all take your USAA certificates, they will be fair and understand that there is competion with 10 miles. Kingdom Kia change your business practices because I will go out my way to cost you as much business as I can. I have spoken to many just in the last 2 days that share a similar experience. Shame on me for not doing my homework on your establishment. You are preying on young and inexperienced Soldiers and families.

Kingdom KIA, Tops in Rolla

by salemcharger on 01/12/2010

Wow, I bought a car at Kingdom KIA and they are absolutly the best. The 2 salesmen were very friendly and knowledgable. They really went the extra mile to help me out since I have not so good credit and have been turned down a few other local places and and so I was hesitant to try again but I talked to a phone rep and he talked me into trying again. Well they suceeded where the other locals failed and I have a new used car that I am very, very happy with, plus a super great warranty to boot. I would recommend Kingdom KIA to all of my family and friends and suggest giving them a try to help you out, especially if you have bad credit. I feel they were very HONEST and Fair. There is also a great selection of used cars and not just the kias.

Kingdon Kia, Rolla Missouri - New dealership, bad reputation

by stus_opinion on 08/20/2009

This brand new Kia dealership is rapidly getting a bad reputation. They are already known for unkept promises, lies from salesmen, obtaining the keys to trade in vehicles, and refusing to surrender them when customers decide they dont like the deals they are getting, only to be continnually offered a slightly better deal untill a deal is struck. The deal offered is usually wrapped in lies and promises which fall thru for the consumer unknowingly to him (or her) untill the deal is over. In the case of 2 people I know they had a deal, only to be told the financing didn't go thru and they needed to return, only to find a worse deal, either more money down was needed or the loan was extended an additional year. ! of those prople actually got an acceptance letter from the original bank which had approved him for financing, after he was told by the salesman his deal didn't go thru. everybody I talked to who had bought a car from here was also told to lie on a consumer survey from Kia main office, and rate this dealership a "9" or a "10" as it was explained to them anything less than that score is a failing score. Some lied in an unsucessfull attempt to collet on promises made. Others told the truth on the survey, and were told this is the reason why they were not going to keep promises. My experience shopping here was typical and appears to be the same as most people. I cannot reccomend this dealership to anybody. I see on the internet they are now offering a lifetime warranty, and it would not suprise me if that is also a lie as well. For a new car dealership, in a declining economy one would think this buisness would do everything they could to gain a good reputation, considering a good reputation takes a long time to get, a bad one however can be gained practically overnight, and can take a long time to get rid of. On a final note I called to check on my complaint on post (Ft Leonardwood, MO) and I am told that this buisness is under review, and may be placed off limits to soldiers here. I wish I had known these things before I bought my brand new Kia!
