Great experience

by zoldman on 10/16/2011

I had bought a used Sonata which required minor service with in the week. while that was being done I drove an Azera Ltd. and was so impressed with it I asked if they would credit me back what I had paid for the Sonata on a new Azera and of course they would. They also went the extra mile and got the state to take the sales tax off my account since I did not truly complete the sale of the Sonata. I have sent my friends in to see them and they have been quite satisfied.

Great dealership

When initailly researching the 2011 Sonata, I went to McCarthy Blue Springs Hyundai. I told them that I wasn't ready to buy but simply wanted to test drive the 2011 Sonata. They quickly set up my test drive, explaining the new features of the car for me. After the test drive, there was no pressure to buy right now and they didn't pester me with calls during the intervening time. Very courteous and professional. When I decided to buy, I went to two other local Hyundai dealerships, mainly to price compare. Both dealers were courteous and prompt in the bid process. However, at one dealership, I found I was being charged a $745 preparation fee, which was explained as the "cost of getting the car ready to sell after it arrived by transport from the manufacturer". I've never been charged a preparation fee before in the 40 years that I've been buying cars. Also there was a $399 "documentation/administration" fee, which in my opinion is excessive. I then went to McCarthy Blue Springs Hyundai for their bid. Again, the same courteous/professional treatment. The bid presented to me was by far superior to both the other dealers, both in terms of the money I was getting for my trade in and the selling price of the Sonata. In the end, I bought the 2011 Sonata Limited with Nav, for less money than the Sonata Limited without Nav that I priced at both the other dealers. I have not had the opportunity to use their Service Dept., but I do plan on doing all my oil changes and service at the dealership. I doubt seriously that the Service Dept will be any different than my experience so far.
