how to get manufacture rebates? on Mazda MPV
by ban122 on Fri Nov 03 19:41:28 PST 2006
I bought a 2006 Mazda Mpv from a CT dealer for the reduced price stick on the dash board ($20,090) for Invoice price of 25,140 that is MPV LX with options Sun/MOON Roof , Sliding doors , Traction control, side air bags , Rear a/c . Sale price and registration price is $19,995 . Mazda corp site says $3500 Manufacture rebate and $1000 Mazda auto finance rebate . When I asked about them the mgr said they were already discounted in the offer price . Hence I signed the slae agreement which specifes selling price as 19,1995 + 95 title +359 process fee and I was asked to come next day to take the delivery . They did not mention in sale agreement and I didnt sign any rebate document . And to my surprise without asking me Mgr processed Finance thru chase instead of Mazda American Credit (so I lost $1000) . My friend bough Base model Lx -SV for 17,700 with Roof rak and remote Starter out the door and He told me his dealer processed both rebates and he signed those papers How do I get the $3500 rebate? I called Mazda corp , they asked me to talk to the dealer and said that is given by Manufacturer but delaer has to process that rebate . My dealer is adamant to do this process, they are saying rebates were discounted in the sale price but were not mentioned in the sale letter and tax not collected. Hence I called again the Mazda corporate Office , that Lady checked the rebates they anounced in their web site and called my dealer and told me the same story , then I asked her to get all the copies of sale transaction from the dealer and investigate further . Is there any other way to get that $3500 rebate atleast . Any advice ? thanks Hmmm I should have read these forums before I bought this vehicle . I made a mistake .

unlimited, just to clarify, since i wanted automatic and the only dealer with an automatic and nav wanted msrp, i opted not to get that, nor the manual with the nav and brown leather (i wanted black). so i can't really comment. besides, can't say i've even experienced a lexus nav system...! :P --adam

Adam, how do you like the navigation system? Is it similar to the more expensive cars like Lexus?
Re: What's a good deal on a Mazda3 SP23? [mariom]

I just bought my first car SP23 5-door this past weekend and say that I am in love with the car already. Will post a full message to this group as soon as I have more time with the buying experience, etc, but will at least answer your posting with the basics of my deal. Note that according to the dealer (I haven't yet been able to truly verify this) they only made 400 SP23s (200 sedan's & 200 hatchbacks). So the inventory is dwindling since they've been out a few months already. The nav system, which I wanted, is a factory install option (important to note). I found only one on the east coast with nav that was an automatic (I live in NYC and although I love manual, wouldn't opt for it with city driving). The dealer, which had originally quoted me under 3% over invoice for non-nav said he wanted MSRP with nav since it was the only one 'coming into the area.' I found a manual with brown leather and nav and they were willing to do 3-4% over invoice. I had read somewhere that that was 'fair.' I ended up with an automatic ($900 msrp) with safety package ($1,600 msrp) and moonroof package ($700 msrp). Adding up the options, the MSRP totaled $22,445 and the invoice on that was $20,816. I got it for $21,400 or $584 (2.8%) above invoice. Since I graduated from grad school last year (I just beat the 1 year expiration by 10 days), I got the $500 rebate and so am very happy about the price (except for the 8.625% sales tax in NYC). Not sure if this is really true or not because I had invoice prices for the aftermarket options and thought I could negotiate these as well, but the dealer said he'd give the parts dept. his soc. sec. # and that would get me his discount on the options I wanted. I subsequently found mazda authorized parts online but some were less than what he can get for me and some were more. So I'm just going with where I get it cheaper -- they're all options I can put on/install myself. I'll post later in the week what I did to prepare, how the negotiation went, how the dealer was and will also put my thoughts on the car in the appropriate other sections here. I found this to be a great resource in my preparation and want to give back so others can learn/benefit/enjoy... --adam :shades: PS -- I am getting way more attention in this vehicle than I ever did in the '89 Volvo sedan I'd been driving forever...

Fairbanks is a high-pressure store. Not the kind of place you want to walk into without knowing exactly what you want and how much it costs. I was there about the same time as you in '03 shortly after the MZ6 came out, and it was a zoo. I worked with a nice salesman at Classic South around Memorial Day, told him what I wanted, but he never made a move to locate a car. I found this car on the web and did the negotiating over the phone. Had my credit union loan locked up when I walked in. Things went about as smooth as possible. There were a couple of moments where I sensed they were going to try something, but I was adamant that our original deal be honored and they obliged. I think they need sales too badly, after the hurricanes, to play games. They delivered what they promised, and I didn't get the mop and glo pitch from the F&I guy.
