This dealership could have killed me!

After reading so many 5-star reviews for this dealer, I cannot understand why my experience is anything but 5-star. I live in Pennsylvania and bought a 2018 Mazda 3 in April from this dealer 215 miles from home. The sales associate Kevin had trouble figuring out how to transfer the car over to me out of state. After 3 days of researching this issue, he called me and told me that he got it figured out and to drive out to close our deal. After driving out there to close on this deal, it was quickly determined that Kevin had forgotten to tell me that I needed to bring my old license plate with me. After listening to our recorded conversations, the owner Jim Salvie offered to have the car delivered to me at his expense, $500+. The car was delivered 3 days later and after driving it for a day it became obvious that there was an issue with the suspension. I was told that this car had been gone over and had no issues. When taken to the garage for inspection, it was determined that it needed new shocks and struts as 2 were bottoming out & the right rear passenger tire had a gouge & cut and needed replaced. This all cost just under $2000. These repairs should have been made prior to the sale, or at the very least, disclosed to me before I made my decision to buy this vehicle. I contacted Kevin via email and Jim Salvie via their website contact form about these issues and no one has ever responded back to me. I feel I was lucky that I was unable to drive this car back home 215 miles as who knows what could have happened. This car was not road worthy. How could any reputable car dealership allow something like this to happen? I could have been killed if that tire blew out at 70 mile per hour. Then to not even respond to me when I bring it to their attention. They need to seriously review how they inspect used cars before they sell them. This situation could have been so much different. Although Jim Salvie struck me as an honest & upstanding individual, I for the life of me cannot imagine how he let this situation occur and not even take the time to respond to me. For all the reasons outlined above, I would encourage you to proceed with caution if you are considering purchasing a used car from this dealer as you may find some surprises after the sale as it would appear that they do not do a thorough inspection of their vehicles before they put them up for sale. Buyer beware!

Decent car and salespeople, avoid financing with them

The salesman that helped me get the car I wanted was fine, and they helped make the process relatively quick and easy. He did imply that they don't allow outside financing, which is not allowed in Massachusetts. After the deal was done though, the financial guy tried hard to push an extended warranty which would have extended duration of the loan by a few years and raised the monthly payment considerably. They offered a 9% rate on the loan through Ally Auto Financial. Ally seems very shady as they immediately sent me a letter stating that due to my (830) credit score, they couldn't finance me at 9%, so they re-wrote the loan for 10.5%. I was already in the process of re-financing the loan with my credit union for 4.5%, so it will be fine. Incidentally Ally Auto seems very shady, they incorrectly reported the payoff amount to my credit union leaving a $20 balance on the loan. I am still trying to get them to release the lien on the car a month later because of that $20 balance. Maybe they are hoping for a default so they can repossess it after getting paid. This would have been a five star review if Berkshire Mazda didn't insist I finance with such a disreputable finance company.

Test drove a 2016 CX-9 Signature. Loved the car, until we purchased it and during the drive home got it up to 70mph on the Interstate and immediately noticed a disappointing "shimmy" in the front end of the car. Shame on us for not driving the car the 20 minute ride to the Interstate during the test drive to verify the performance at highway speeds. Regardless, the 160 point inspection specifically looks for this condition but did not report this "shimmy" because the CPO people did not bother to drive it to the Interstate either. The sales department put over 1000 miles on the car after it was offered for sale, so we can only assume they consider this condition to be normal for Mazda's high end trim vehicles. When I mentioned the condition, they asked me if I hit one of those "New England" potholes during the drive home. Reported this condition to Service who were gracious enough to take a look at the car a few days after the purchase. The tires were balanced and rotated, but this did little to reduce the "shimmy". Apart from correcting the wheel balance, no other issues beyond the tires were found that could explain the highway speed shimmy. Took the car to my local mechanic who confirmed the shimmy, but could not attribute it to anything other than the tires. Based on the reviews for these tires we will plan to upgrade them in the near future. If this corrects the highway speed shimmy we will write a letter to MazdaUSA. If it doesn't, Mazda will likely lose a customer on any future purchases - which is sad because we absolutely loved our CX-5 (which we traded in for the bigger CX-9) and will be looking to replace one of our other cars in the next year or two.

I had a wonderful car buying experience with Josh Pavey. He was responsive, informative, and worked with me to get the Subaru Impreza I had my eye on. A few months later, when two small issues came up, he helped me schedule a service appointment and they fixed the issues at no cost. Berkshire Mazda has a great team and I highly recommend them for sales and service.

I just bought a used a CX 3 from Berkshire Mazda and had an overall great experience! Josh reached out to me very quickly after I contacted the dealership to test drive a vehicle. Throughout the whole experience Josh was approachable, accommodating, honest, knowledgeable, and very friendly. I am so happy I listened to the previous views and took the time to go to this dealership. Not only was Josh amazing to work with but the other salesmen were extremely friendly as well. I would suggest this dealership to anyone and will definitely be going back there when I am ready to upgrade or get a new vehicle!!

I don’t usually like to write reviews but Jim salvie and his staff at Berkshire Mazda just exceeded my expectation in terms of customer service and professionalism. I just purchased a car there a month ago and they made the whole process so easy for me. I feel that Jim really cares about his customer and he is genuinely nice and honest. Someone you can trust. Hard to find dealership like this easily.

I was a first-time car buyer, and was completely overwhelmed by other big-name dealerships in the area. Friends told me about Berkshire Mazda and Jim Salvie and I was blown away by the difference in experiences.. Others were trying to "take me for a ride" while these guys were more concerned with helping me out and earning my future business, which they certainly did. If you live in the area don't make the mistake of buying anywhere else, especially if your a clueless first-time buyer like me!

Last Friday 2/24/17 I called interested in a Honda CR-V. Spoke to someone and it was Scott and said come down and take a look at it. My husband and I have 7 kids so we have a car now but needed another vehicle. Scott said That they had just gotten a GMC Acadia in from a trade in and asked if I would be interested and yes I was. I came down the next day for a test ride and I loved it so much that my husband came down later that same day and checked everything over. Scott had gotten us approved for the vehicle and we signed the paper work and had the Acadia the next day. They detailed it really nice and took care of us and making weekly payments on it as well. Scott is awesome and will be going back in the future. Highly recommended!!!!
