Run Away!

by Decent woman 4 on 09/23/2023

Went into look at used cars and the kid helping us kept asking for my phone and email before he even asked what I was looking for. He actually refused to help us and said "I can't help you without this information" and then just ignored us. I KNOW this info wasn't needed to just look at some cars. Also a few years back when we had a car serviced there I was approached by a sales person while I waited and he exhibited sexually harassing behavior. I reported it to Toyota and of course nothing was done. DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

Horrors

by kelshm on 09/27/2007

Let me tell you about my horrors with the Midwest's Service. I bought a 2006 Tacoma from Midwest in July of '06. This was a truck I had been wanting for years and I finally bought one. I was ecstatic. For the first 9,000 miles all was great and then my horrors began. On my way to work one day, the air conditioner quit. It worked for about 5 minutes on my trip home but then quit again and never came back on. I took my truck to Midwest for repair. Mind you that this trip is 45 miles one way from my house. I had to make a total of 6 trips in less than 2000 miles to get this problem resolved. Each time they would tell me that it was fixed only for it to quit working again within 20 miles. On the 5th trip they finally got the air conditioning fixed but managed to mess up all the setting on the blower controls. I took the truck back for the 6th time and they set to work on it. For an hour it sat with no one touching it. I know this because I sat in the waiting room with a full line of sight to my truck. The service manager came in and said that the mechanic had been out to lunch, which I understood, and that he was back now and would have it done in about 15 minutes. For an hour and 20 minutes I watched as absolutely no one touched my truck. I was rather livid at this point as I had spent 6 Saturdays in this waiting room for the exact same problem and here they were wasting my time again. I went to the manager and told them that I had had enough. My truck was sitting while no one was working on it, I had spent way too much time getting this truck fixed and that if this was the way they treated their customers that I would never step foot on their lot again. I then proceeded next door to the Chevrolet dealership to see if I should just trade this truck off as it was a complete letdown. When I returned they were pulling my truck out of the shop. I got into the truck and it was STILL not working correctly. I went back to the service manager and told him. He shook his head and walked off. I then went and got the salesman, the only person that was halfway responsible in the entire dealership, and explained it to him. I also went to one of the new Tacoma's and compared the function of the blower to my own truck. Mine was definitely not right. At this point the mechanic came out and drove my truck around to where I was at. Amazingly it was working now. He told me I was imagining things. I AM a mechanic. I am not stupid and I told him that when I got in the truck it was not right. He told me I was screwed in the head and that I didn't know what I was talking about. I told him that I was not stupid and that I had witnesses to the fact that the truck was not correct when I got in. I told him that after 6 trips that I had a right to be upset about this mess and that perhaps I should call Toyota and let them know about this mess. He said that I should go ahead because they would just laugh at me. At this point I got in my truck and left. From this time on the airconditioner worked, in a fashion. In the heat of the summer it would totally quit at times and just as the interior would get hot it would finally kick back on. I loved my truck but after this nightmare I finally traded it off. I did buy another Toyota but I bought it from Eddy's in Wichita. After hearing how terrible they were from the crew at Midwest, I was so completely surprised at the ease of the process. But this is for another thread.
