Re: 2008 Grand Cherokee Lease [barrier]

I know that NY, NJ and CT charge sales tax on the rebates, as for the dealer discount, I believe they charged taxes on the total out amount out of pocket and the rebates, so the amount sounds about right at 8.25%. I wouldn't put it past them to try and make extra money on the collection of taxes, but there can be serious consequences for overcharging on a purchase, so I would think they would try to fudge numbers elsewhere on the lease. I'm guessing dealer discounts totaled anywhere from $1000 to $2500? Your talking about $80 to $204 tops, which works out to $2 to $5 more a month. Considering the great deal you got, I wouldn't worry about it too much. They didn't charge you tax on the whole truck, which I've read they try to do. As for the service contract, that sounds like a load of cowpies that the warranty is voided if you don't do the service with them. The required maintenance for your vehicle is listed in the owners manual and you can get your Jeep serviced wherever you want. They are looking to make a buck by tacking on a premium on the CSC service contract. Go to the Jeep website and then the 'For Owners' Page, you will see a link to Service Contracts. Give them a call about a maintenance package, as you can buy that direct from Chrysler. Ask CSC how much the price is for scheduled maintenance for the term of your lease, I think they offer 3000, 3500, and 5000 service intervals. I'd love to know what the difference is between the two. One thing though, if you purchase the contract, you are required to have it serviced at one specific dealer (usually the one where you purchased it, but you can get the contract with whichever Jeep dealer you like). Even with the 3000 mile service schedule, you will need at most 10 oil changes, and a set of spark plugs at 30k miles, maybe some new wipers, and tire rotations. $1,000.00 is waaay to much for all that. Then they will charge you obscene amounts for things like fog lamp bulbs and brake pads which aren't covered under the scheduled maintenance. I got charged $60 by the dealer for a fog lamp bulb (I couldn't find the bulb at any store), then wised up and bought the other bulb on the internet: Autozone for $10. I'm a DIY type when it comes to oil changes, but had a maintenance contract for my last Jeep for the convenience and plan to do the same with my HEMI as well. I think they are well worth it if you have a busy schedule, but I'd make sure to buy direct from Chrysler.

Thanks for the response Car man. I was looking at 36mnth 12k/yr. I just got a quote today for 2008 Sport AWD Rocky Mountain edition. The MSRP was $34,960. He said taking the $3,500 lease cash into consideration, monthly payment would be $457 mnth all included with just first months payment due at signing. I don't know about the additional bonus cash you are referring to. I live in CT so I don't know if it's available here. Does this quote sound too high?
Re: Good Price for a 2007 Liberty [taogan]

I just bought a 2007 Jeep Liberty Sport, Manual Transmission for $17,500 from Pamby Motors in CT (MSRP: $23,110) After going on websites like www.carbuyingtips.com and Edmunds, I was able to figure out the DEALERS cost (not invoice, which is more money) which includes rebates and factory-to-dealer incentives (it was $5,000 up to 12/3/07). Pamby Motors was excellent! They offered a great price, they got me a good deal on financing and warrenty and made the experiece so simple and smooth. I almost thought I wasn't in a car dealership. You sound like you got a great deal too for the Limited with the G Package. How much was the MSRP? I was nervous at driving manual (hadn't in about 15 years), but I slipped right back into it (like riding a bike) and I love it. How do you like your Jeep?

What are people paying for '07s?
by stefystef on Wed Oct 24 08:45:28 PDT 2007
I see no one has posted here since August 2007. I am interested in getting a really good deal for an '07 Liberty, 6-speed manual in the NY/NJ/CT area. Anyone out there know what's going on with Jeep offers? I've been reading some not great things about Jeeps right now and I am wondering if it's worth the investment. Looking foward to your responses.
Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD Lease Payment
by joab on Mon May 21 18:21:38 PDT 2007
Hi Car_man, Can you please let me know whether the lease number that I get from my dealer is reasonable? I am interested in leasing with 15,000 mileages per year and I am told that the best deal is 39-month lease, with residual of 45% and money cost of 0.00183. The car I am interested in is a Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD with 25H Package (Hemi engine), Navigation / Rear back up Camera MSRP 42,195 Affiliate rewards price: 38,667 (1% below invoice) Cap Cost: 34,167 (include 4,500 cash rebate) I am quoted 423.88 monthly lease payments with 5,500 due at signing, which include all the fees and 1st month payment. I am in CT with 6% sales tax, unless I miss some fees, my cap cost reduction should be around 3,628 with the following calculation: Amount due at signing: 5,500 1st month lease payment: 423.88 * 1.06 = 449.31 Affiliate rewards administration fee: 75 Conveyance Fee: 247 Registration Fee: 183 Bank Fee: 700 Amount due minus all the fees above is 3,845.69 after tax and that correspond to 3,628 pre tax. My monthly lease should be: Depreciation fee: (cap cost 34,167 – cap cost reduction 3,628 – (msrp 42,195 * 45%)) / term 39 = 296 Monthly Finance Fee: (cap cost 34,167 – cap cost reduction 3,628 + (msrp 42,195 * 45%)) * money cost 0.00183 = 91 Monthly Lease payment = 296 + 91 = 387 + 23 (6% tax) = 410 Can you please tell me whether I am completely off? Thanks a lot for your help
