gurley leep is not cheap
Written by bbrowning on 11/23/2009
My worst car buying experience ever from "Gurley leep" I am so frustrated; I don't even know where to begin. There are a lot of subtle nuances that are going to be missed in this e-mail. It is hard to convey all of the little things that added up to a general disrespect for my wife and me. In my opinion this is the most unethical car dealership and sales staff that I have ever seen. My wife and I found an Audi a4 that we liked and made an offer to purchase the car. Gurley Leep dealership: you need to buy this car now because we are taking it to the auction tomorrow. Me: go ahead it is priced higher than I am willing to pay. Gurley Leep dealership 2 weeks later: we still have the car (surprise) we can sell it to you for $$$$ Me: that is still too much Gurley Leep dealership: they came down $200.00. Me: after reluctance on our part we agreed to the price and said that we just wanted our mechanic to check out the car. Gurley Leep dealership: now they add last minute additions of $795.00 for Audi certification (the car was already being advertised as "certified") and $295.00 for window etching of the vin numbers. You can buy a glass etching kit on-line for $20.00 and the Burdge law office calls it "one of the great rip offs of the decade". Me: no way we're not paying those extra fees Gurley Leep dealership: ok we will drop the certification fee and the window etching fee. Me: ok I will come down to look at the car one last time and finalize the deal Gurley Leep dealership: sends me a confirmation e-mail with the final price. I go to look at the car one last time and we both agree to the deal. They agree to let me take the car to my mechanic for final approval on Monday at 11 am. I offer to put money down twice and they refuse both times saying that it's ok until Monday. I finalize my loan, get the check from the bank, set the appointment with my mechanic, call my insurance company for coverage on the car, and get things rolling with the secretary of state to title the car. When I call them on my way to the dealership, they tell me they sold the car to someone else. Since then, I can't even get the general manager to return my calls. So much for business ethics! I am begging you to be careful of this snake in the grass. If you are looking for an Audi, VW, or Mercedes, buy it from a reputable dealer "someone else"
