Re: Roomy--Austin, TX pricing [onewingz] by g2iowa on Sun Nov 27 07:52:27 PST 2011

Sounds like you got a good price, given the limited supply. Helps when don't have a trade. Car is amazingly roomy, both cabin and trunk. I can't really see much point in going to the Sonata. With no sunroof there is great headroom. I'm 6'2" and share car with someone much shorter. She sets seat up as high as it goes. I leave it there and still have plenty of headroom. My 6'9" and 6'7" brothers can sit in it and get comfortable, too.

2012 Sonata SE Turbo by derekstanggt on Sat Nov 26 23:25:17 PST 2011

Just bought a new '12 2.0T today, thought I would share and offer some tips. Round Rock Hyundai Just north of Austin, TX 2012 Pacific Blue SE Turbo Factory options: Floor mats Cargo net Wheel locks (~$235) Dealer installed options: Tint Pin strips Nitrogen in tires Door guards (~$1000) After some intense negotiations, paid $23,499 +ttl came out to $25,240 with 2.9% for 72 mos that the dealer found at a local bank, which seemed high considering my 794 credit and my wife's 804. So the sales manager showed me the car's "invoice" at $25,100 and tried telling me they were losing $1600 on the deal, but I honestly thought there was more wiggle room. I don't believe those fishy invoices for a second. Theres no way they would show their hand like that. Anyway, I was at my goal price already and didn't want to continue what had already proved to be a brutal fight for another couple hundred or so, so I settled. I would advise others that if you want to get the best price possible, or your "goal" price, do NOT be intimidated by their scare tactics. They will push and bully you around, and try to make you feel stupid for offering such a "ridiculously low" offer. Don't fall for the "official, rock bottom offer" just because it's scribbled in sharpie. Also remember that you, they buyer, hold all the leverage in this deal (assuming you don't absolutely need a car today!) and can walk away at any time if you feel they won't budge or are trying to intimidate you. You can always come back later (end of month, or better, end of year) or visit another dealership. Make sure you visit at least a couple anyway, that way you can get the "best offer" from each dealership and play them against each other. Make them compete for your business. Great car btw, we're very happy. 36.6 mpg on the highway tonight with cruise control set at 68

Austin, TX pricing by onewingz on Sat Nov 26 11:05:37 PST 2011

That sounds like a good price on the Limited. MSRP is over 23k. I just bought this week. Austin Texas, supply seems very limited here. New 2012 Elantra GLS with preferred package plus the homelink mirror and carpet mats, and the little dealer added things that they always do - 18,500+TTL, so I got it out the door for under 20k. MSRP from Hyundai.com for this car with these features is 19,150. I did have an offer for $500 less than that from another dealer in town, but chose to pay a little more to go with a dealer that I had a better rapport with and had a better reputation. I should also point out that I'm 6'6" tall and 270-280 lbs. There simply is not any other car I know of that you can buy new for under 20k that fits me this comfortably. Came from a Volvo s80 and this car only has SLIGHTLY less leg room, and has more head room. I am not in any way feeling cramped in this car. It is absolutely ridiculous the amount of room in this car.

Re: 2009 SE [backy] by bbb99 on Sun Mar 14 18:09:09 PDT 2010

It is an AT, I went ahead and didn't get it. I sold my HCH on craigslist for $5250 and I'm going to get a Fit Sport with a little more mileage for the same price ($15k). I lose the ESC and the sirius/xm ready radio, but I gain some headroom and my wifes approval. Thoughts?

2009 SE by bbb99 on Mon Mar 08 18:06:14 PST 2010

Please help, what do you guys think of a 2009 Elantra SE with 5k miles for $14,844. There is no BT, sunroof, nav, but the car is in perfect shape. Thoughts? They are being generous with my trade in also, offering $4500 for a 2003 civic hybrid with 103k on it.
