Thanks for the info, backy. The only thing not clear is whether they add a doc. fee (which is different from dealer prep.). Depending on various state laws, documentation fees can be significantly different. They may include, or may not have a doc. fee. Towne, last I knew, had a $189 doc. fee to be added to the quoted price.

The is no "usual" below invoice price at Towne. That figure changes from month to month, probably based on factory to dealer incentives. $1900 below invoice was June's dealer discounted price. May had a different dealer discounted price. August may have a higher or lower dealer discount. If the demand for the 4 cyl Limited is way up, which I can believe, it just makes sense from their perspective to offer a smaller discount. It's still a great price, much better than CT prices. It was worth the 100 mile drive when we bought from Town in 2/07. Let us know how Stateline compares.

I disagree. I've heard that rumor and thought it was proved wrong. However, to be sure, check with Hyundai. Don't ask the dealer who will likely farm out the job and then make a few more bucks on top of what the independent shop charges.

nanotube is correct. I am an insurance agent and have never heard of any insurance company discounting the entire car insurance premium because of lo-jack or any other anti-theft device. The discount only applies to the coverage insuring you against theft. Most companies (at least in CT) have been calling this coverage "damage to your car other than collision" for over a decade. A few may still call it "comprehensive". This coverage applies to fire, theft, vandalism, glass breakage, just about any accidental damage except for collision with another object. See your policy for definitions of collision as colliding with an animal such as a deer is considered "other than collision." Car dealers or accessory sales people often use the promise of a big discount from one's comprehensive car insurance. Technically, they are correct, but they say it in such a way that the typical new car buyer believes he will save X% on his entire car insurance premium. Don't ever believe what anyone in automotive/accessories sales tells you a particular item or feature will do to save you insurance premiums. A good example is window etching. None of the insurance companies we represent offer any discount for window etching. We've had clients call and say "My new car has window etching. How much will that save me?" When we tell them "nothing", they get mad at us rather than the salesman who gave them false information. Always check with your insurance agent or company before buying anything based upon its claimed insurance savings. P.S. Lo-jack is a "recovery system", it is not a theft prevention system. And, the finance guys' job is to sell add-ons after the car sales deal has been made. Some previous posts have talked about having to go to the finance guy when they were paying cash for the car. This is only done so the finance guy can try to squeeze a few more bucks out of the buyer.

While correct that the current generation Sonata is in its 4th model year, the timing is deceiving. We bougth an '07 in Feb '07. The '08s came out a couple months later and the '09s less than a year after that. So, our '07, not exactly bought at the end of a typical model year, even folowing Hyundai's normal model year change over of "about" 12 months regardless of time of the year, was two model years old within 13 or 14 months. My '05 was purchased in 4/05. The '06s came generally available in 6/05. So, in less than 3 years my '05 was 5 model years old. This is not typical of Hyundai. While they usually keep a model year for 12 months +/-, they wanted to get their new plant up & running for the '06's and were probably anxious to respond to consumer feed back when bringing out the '09s. I think they were trying to respond to the market. Heck, six months ago people on this forum were speculating that the Azera was dead because the '08s "hadn't hit the dealers yet." The '08 Azera became readily available in late January--about 5 months ago.

Daveltd may have used the term "rebate" rather loosely. He may have meant dealer selling price compared to MSRP and rebates totaling $5000 under MSRP.
