Buying a car from a Honda Car Dealer

WA Honda Car Consumer Discussions

Re: seattle area deals [odysseynewb] by azaz on Fri Jan 06 20:15:45 PST 2012

I got the car at invoice. Was quoted that price over the phone by a SM @ HoK to get me in the door. Purchased the day before Thanksgiving...was in the market for a 2011...but no one in WA had an EX-L (no navi/res). Bellevue had (2) 2011's...one w/navi & one w/res. You might be able to get a deal if they're still available. However, after calling around...no one was willing to get even close to invoice on a 2012 while I was looking in 2011. And I was an all cash buyer. The best quote on the phone I could get was from Fife...for $1000 over invoice...so close to what you found. If you're not in a hurry...I'd wait for another month or so...and see if you could get closer to invoice. But DO NOT GO to Honda of Kirkland. I wrote *2* complaint letters to the GM/Owner. I attempted/was in contact with the GM/Owner, Customer Service Manager, a Sales Manager, and 2 Sales Associates...and I'm telling you...worst car buying experience ever. Only after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau did I get a response to either of my letters. So many dealerships in the area...go to *any* one of them. I honestly would have paid more for a better experience...and if you knew me...that's saying something.

Re: Did I Get "Taken for a Ride" on My Honda Accord EX-L V-6 Lease? [delta737h] by heat_miser on Mon May 17 14:26:49 PDT 2010

Thanks soooo much for your response, John!!! I did some calculations last night on my own via Edmonds Basic Lease Calc application, and I realized that the dealer knew I didn't know what the hell I was doing when I came in yesterday... (They actually had the nerve to start the negotiations at $500/month!!!)... I live in WA state (this was at Honda of Kirkland) so sales tax is 9.5%. They never even showed me how the lease was calculated, what the components were, and kept walking away to look as if they were running some big calculations in an office before coming back with a new number. This song and dance went on for 2+ hours!!! Then they made me hand over my keys for my trade-in saying that this was a standard procedure (when I questioned this practice, they said they forgot to tell me earlier)... and then they sent me away in another '09 V4 Accord that was on the lot. I feel like they practically stole my old car, which to answer your question is completely paid for. I have just sent them a scathing email telling them to halt the loan process until further notice. I may take you up on your intervention if I have any further questions. AGAIN, THANKS SOOOO MUCH for being a concerned consumer and concerned for me.

Re: 2010 Odyssey EX-L with RES and NAVI in Seattle WA area [Icanfly1canu] by hopes on Tue Apr 20 11:08:58 PDT 2010

We ended up purchasing at Kirkland Honda, but would have really liked to deal with Lynnwood Honda. Unfortunately, Kirkland was the only dealership that had the color we wanted and they weren't going to trade to Lynnwood Honda. Hope that helps!

Update from the Seattle area (WA State) by smariner on Sat Sep 13 23:14:37 PDT 2008

For the 2008 Odysseys, I got a quote of $3000 under invoice from Bellevue Honda (on the phone); $3500 under invoice from Kirkland Honda – both the quotes were over the phone; so, I’m not sure if that was a gimmick to get me in. Anyone got better deals in the Seattle area? Ideally, I'm looking at getting the LX or EX for $4000 less than the internet-invoice price.
