Which South Florida dealer? I got my Civic from Hollywood Honda and if I were you, I'd stay away from Coral Springs Honda, where I live. Their prices are always higher than any other Honda dealer and they usually have admin fees. The Sandman :)
Civic LX Lease
by mcrib on Thu Mar 13 15:41:10 PDT 2008
I went in today to lease a Honda Civic LX Auto in South FL. Originally I was planning on buying and the price we reached was 16,200. I changed my mind and rather lease the vehicle. They couldn't tell me a MF without running my credit, which I didn't want to do. The residual was around 11.5k for a 36 month 12,000 lease. I basically shot some numbers $1900 down and $198~ a month after tax payments. I figured the total amount of the lease amounts to $8830. Another dealer offered "Civic LX is $223 + Tax ($236 Tax included), The Ex for $ 245 + tax ($260 Tax included), The Hybrid for $ 282 + tax ($299 tax included). " and "All you need is an excellent credit and inception money around 600 more or less" By the way I live in Hollywood Florida and the tax here is 6%. I'm pretty much looking around for the absolute cheapest price. I can wait out this purchase as well. This is a car purchase to take some load off my lower MPG vehicle.
South Florida High Prices

Bought my '06 LX sedan AT from Maroone in Hollywood back in June of '06for about $17,000. but also had that dealer fee which they refused to negotiate on. Hear that Rick Case is even higher and don't even go near Coral Springs!! Nice car so ended up just paying the fees, as another Sentra or Corolla were ot of the question and the Elantra just didn't appeal to me. Now my oldest girl wants an Elantra...go figure. Wife already drives a Mazda 3s :) and didn't want the same car. Would've jumped on the Volvo S40 but the dealers were asking stupid money also. With 12k on the odo now, can honestly say that I still love the car and am pleased with this decision and hopefully will keep it into retirement which will be anytime between 1/11 and 11/15 at this point. Am the primary driver on the car so should make it easily. Great car! The Sandman :)

Fit

Hollywood Toyota in South Florida had at least four that I could see while waiting for my oil change. Two were the Sports which looked way nicer with the standard alloys. Seems like a reallly small car compared to my Civic. I got to sit in the Accord and the CRV and they both had alot of room...seemed like they were about even on interior space. The CRV had the nicer alloys, EX model, and a nicer cloth. Seats were downright comfortable also, which is a major plus with my spinal problems. The Accord had leather power seats which were even better, as I could manipulate the seat into a very comfortable position. Two good choices but the smaller size and the excellent mpg's of my Civic just confirmed as to why I did buy it. Still plan to get the wife to look closely at the new Accord in the next few years though. The Sandman :)
Sham Posters

I've never thought that people would be doing that kinda stuff from a dealership...but it's entirely possible I guess. Really sneaky, but who would really know. And like the earlier poster said, a very good way to increase foot traffic into a store if there is the remote possibility of snagging such a great deal, eventhough it's really a bogus one! Got my Civic's oil change this morning at Maroone Honda in Hollywood Florida and the service writer told me they still have a "sh-t load" of Accords to move out before the '08's hit the floor in about 2 weeks. While walking around the lot, I noticed at least 10 cars, all configurations, and this doesn't include their off property storage area. I was approached by three different salesmen trying to get me to upgrade the Civic for an Accord. I did see a real sweet light blue 4 cylinder SE model which had a price of $21,395 I think after the savings discount for the SE trim...very tempting I must say. I even sat in the same car with 10k miles on their used lot stickered at $19,700., but that was before any price haggle, so I'd bet one could pick that puppy up for maybe $18,900. or a little higher. They were hungry even on the used side, as I was approached by three different guys within about 5 minutes. They even had my exact car on the lot for $18,100, and it had 10k miles with the Honda certification. Cheaper to just buy it new actually. No 2008's on the lot yet, but was told last week there were 10 '08 Accords there for the whole sales staff to become aquainted with and drive. Service guy said they look so much better in person and even he predicted that Honda has a major hit with this car. Was very tempted to take out that '07 blue Accord i liked just for a test drive, but was really afraid that I might've caved, as the tax difference would've made it not a bad deal. But I was strong and secretly have my sights set on '10 model for the wife...eventhough she doesn't know it yet. Could get her the leather which she wants but no memory seats, just power. Time to start putting my plan into action...very slowly though. Really, once we both retire, there really won't be a need for two cars anymore. The Sandman :)
