The interior does indeed get VERY hot in summer, especially with that black leather! We got the rear windows tinted a week after we bought it... it was the first thing we did. :)
Happy with my deal

Bought a new Fusion (finally!) on July 20 from Harrold Ford in Sacramento, CA. Details: 2007 Ford Fusion SE V6 Redfire exterior Charcoal black interior Options: Leather seats Moonroof ABS Traction control MSRP $23,960. Invoice $22,357. We were able to buy the car at invoice, plus sales tax, license, and tire fees. I shopped 12 other Ford dealers in Northern California, from big auto-mall ones to small-town ones, and none were willing to sell me this car at invoice. Overall, I'm quite satisfied that I did my homework and got the best price possible on the exact car I wanted. It's below Edmunds TMV price, which also pleases me. And... my wife and I love the car!

I've been looking for a used hybrid, but decided to stick w/my old Jetta for now. But, I keep fantasizing and searching every once in a while. So, I was looking at Craigslist in Sacramento and saw a used one for a super good price and thought I'd pass on the info to someone who is looking more seriously than I am (yes, I'm resisting temptation!!). I don't think I'm allowed to post a link, but you can probably just search for it on CL. Here's the description: "Must sell due to divorce. Leather seats, sun roof, front and side air bags, 6CD changer, FWD, Continuously Variable transmission. Great Car with lots of room. 34K hwy miles." Hope it's legit and works for someone in CA!! Crossing my fingers that my Jetta doesn't break down and I end up needing this steal ;)
Re: Drove FIVE new 2005 small trucks recently [landdriver]

Wow! Ten grand is quite a hike from a Ranger to a Toyota. I drove a Toyota Pickup for many years, and really liked the way they were put together. My budget precluded a used Toyota purchase, then I got a great buy on a 2001 Ranger with low mileage for $5995. Granted that a Ranger may not be as exciting as the Japanese import, but sometimes we have to consider true value for dollar spent. Your test drives are definitely the way to go when buying new. The Dodge dealer who sold me my Ranger had a $50,000 truck on the showroom floor, next to an $80,000 Viper. I'm surprised they even let me on the lot. rdrankin
2001 Ford "Red" Ranger
by rdrankin on Sat Feb 04 12:12:16 PST 2006
I bought a sharp 2001 Ford Ranger from a Sacramento Dodge dealer in October. It was a weekend price leader, and I paid $5995. It was super clean with under 67,000 miles. The interior is perfect, it has a 5-speed, and I am very happy with the purchase. I always drove Toyota pickups, but an equivalent one in that year would have been $4,000 more. It was parked behind a lineup of new Dodge trucks costing from 30 to 50 thousand, so I "done good" Ray R.
2003 Mountaineer Purchase
by mtwallace on Fri Jan 09 15:44:35 PST 2004
I just bought a 2003 Mountaineer from Winter Linc/Merc in Sacramento: V8, AWD, Luxury, Aux. climate, Tire pressure monitoring, Trailer Tow pkg. MSRP $37,150, paid $27,150. Dealer discount of $5,500 and rebate of $4,500. It was the last 2003 on the lot, the color I wanted, and was equipped pretty much exactly as I wanted, so I felt pretty lucky. Buying experience - this was the first time in a long time I have walked in the front door and dealt with salesmen in the traditional way. I could have done without the cheesy sales tactics: 1) they asked me to sign a statement that "if they gave me the price, payment and trade-in value I liked, I would buy from them today", and 2)doing the "let me take your offer to the manager" routine three times before giving me the price I wanted. Other than that, they were very courteous and professional. I liked the way they gave me a thorough orientation with the vehicle when I picked it up the next day.
