Re: Getting quotes now [michaelsmp]

I've driven to Brooklyn and Baltimore to buy used cars before. I really have no issue driving there for this, except that we are trading in two vehicles, and them knowing we drove all that way means that they have us over a barrell on the trade-in prices. I'd rather get a quote like that from a NJ dealer and take it in to my local dealer and see what they can do for me. I've gotten another quote since I posted as well. Here are the cars I was quoted: Dealer #1: $24,947 3.8 engine with leather heated seats. dual DVD, power doors and lift gate. no nav. It is also the one with stow and go. From what I've been told, this looks like it's a signature series where dual DVD was added as an option. Dealer #2: $26,000 T&C Touring edition w/ leather heated seats and dual DVD, other standard features for this edition. From what I've been told, this looks like it's the Touring M series. If I'm right on the configurations, then I'm thinking I may be better off with the Dealer #2 vehicle, as it has more upgraded features for just over $1000 more.

Car_man, We leased a 2007 Pacifica Touring FWD. It has the powerlift gate, the sirius radio and dvd/rear screen. Total msrp was about 30,800. Adjusted cap cost $25,250. Money factor ,00144 and a residual of $11,250. Lease cost includes maintenance coverage. Lease is 39 months with monthly payments of $399. Did I get a great, good, fair or standard deal here? Thanks Jonas07

Its me again, Mara. I guess I've made some progress... This is a two tiered question. Ok, so I requested a few quotes from local dealers. Dealer A said he'd give me a price of $29,610 (he said that was their price) for an 07 Pac. AWD with only a powerlift gate, no other options. MSRP $31,080 Invoice $28,558, Edmunds TMV $29,729-$2500 (incentive/loyalty) for $27,229. Dealer B emailed me back and gave me a price of $29,992 on the same vehicle with more in it(U Pkg.& moonroof)with an MSRP $33,485 Invoice $30,675 Edmunds TMV $31,984-$2500 (incentive and loyalty) 29,484.00. First of all, do you think this is a good price?? Secondly, how do I go about telling the dealer A, that I received this quote from dealer B, said quote being superior than what he offered me… - Do I call him and tell him or do I go in there and show him the email?? - Do dealers call other dealers to verify? - Should I block out the name/email address of the person whom I’ve been corresponding with at dealer B?? Mind you, dealer A is just across the street from my office and much more convenient than dealer B, who's over the bridge, so I'd much rather work with him. Plus, we've already leased a car there. Thanks for your thoughts on this one!!!

Re: Bought a 2005 Touring with 22,000 miles [bowgy4]

Well, easy come, easy go. I returned the 2005 because it was hitting hard occaisionally when shifting gears. The best part is though that I drove 3 hours to Royal Gate Dodge near St. Louis and picked up an even better deal and car - a 2004 AWD Pacifica with heated seats, memory, sunroof, and chrome wheels. This was a Chrysler Certified Pre-Owned (meaning an 8/80,000 powertrain warranty) and I got it for 19,900 plus $1200 for my trade-in. Could have gotten it cheaper if I had more time, but I think it is still a great deal and I love this car twice as much. We also noticed some marks on the '05 the next day (we bought the car at night) but the '04 is 100% spotless. The interior even looked like showroom new (no marks or scratches anywhere that I could find). I'm excited and hope that the next to person to buy and post here is excited too!
