Beware of closer guy

by billingsley on 08/28/2014

I was in the process of buying a '12 Passat. I had all the figures down, when the closer guy came by. He pushed extended warranties really hard. The dealership is supposed to be approved by AAA to have a certain price near invoice. This guy was trying to push far and above that price. I was so tired by the end of the transaction, I almost walked out. But, I finally got a decent price.

Beware the Finance Guy, Cy!!

by sdphotodude on 07/11/2011

Gary and Russell are amiable, nice guys. The purchase and price were basically a done deal when I found the exact Outback I had been sort of looking for (had a perfectly satisfactory Outback but wanted something newer). Of course Russell showed me payments with and without an extended warranty. I asked if I could get the warranty after I had time to research my options, never got a straight answer to that question. All was happy happy until I had to deal with Cy Zamani. He kept pushing the extended warranty at a ridiculous price of 2500 bucks (insisting I had told Russell I wanted it?!?). I refused at that price so then the price went down to $1775.00. I got tired of saying no and let him include it in the price of the vehicle. I stated I would probably cancel it after I left so Cy again did some "magic" and got the price down to $1225.00. I know from looking at other warranty providers that $1225 is reasonable price (assuming you want the warranty in the first place) so we redid all the paperwork and signatures and I thought we were almost done since I had been approved by my Credit Union for a loan. Cy basically refused to allow me to use this loan and kept pushing me to go with a Big Bank or Subaru Financing. I got fed up and just agreed so I could get the hell out of there (three hours). So now I am having to spend even more time to refi the car with my Credit Union, at a better rate. I would recommend Gary or Ruissell but I cannot recommend the dealership. Sorry. Daniel

He has a lot of patients; honest; very helpful and his professions has made me feel more relax to compromise with the price is right to buy, no hassle. the entire process has done smoothly. I don't have to sit there and argue like I did from the past. Gary was very oriented and explained all control instruments section and all the new features to ensure that I know how to use it. my wife and I was very happy and satisfy the service that he provided. Timmons & Gary Colfack were awesome!

by fitbodylife on 12/20/2010

Timmons & Gary Colfack know exactly what the car buying experience is in the 21st century via the internet. Gary & I exchanged over 50 emails. He was honest, helpful, and very patient with me. At first I was looking at a Subaru Outback, Timmons has Subarus and VWs. Gary was upfront and honest about pricing, financing and leasing. Didn't have to haggle back and forth. After having my heart set on an Outback, I learned that Timmons sold VWs also. I had been eyeing a Touareg for awhile. They had 1 Touareg on special with special pricing and leasing. Unfortunately, it got sold when Gary wasn't at work. Gary went out of his way to get me another Touareg and still honored the special pricing and leasing he quoted me previously for the one he had in stock. Once at the dealership, the process was painless. The finance manager, Cy Zamani, was also great. He wasn't pressuring me into anything i didn't want. Overall Timmons was a great buying experience.

Timmons Rocks

by lbccarbuyer on 03/09/2010

In the past, I have not always had good luck or service at previous dealerships. When I purchased my EOS at Timmons, I received the royal treatment. They made my car buying experience very easy... From selecting the right vehicle for my needs to the actual purchase of the vehicle. I have my car serviced at Timmons as well... I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of. The staff is so friendly and honest. The sales team sees me when I bring my EOS in for service and they always remember me. It's truly a family dealership. Timmons has my loyalty for life!

AVOID TIMMONS!!!

by jtrem on 10/20/2009

Sales person was the only positive thing about this dealership. Once they handed over the paper work to the Finance manager it all went down hill. The finance department at this dealership is a joke. They only answer 1 out of every 5 calls. Very misguided receptionist as well. Finance manger tries to sneak in all kinds of after market items such as theft code (big thing at timmons, listed on every cars MSRP), Extended 3rd party warranties, and of course Gap. I fell for the extended warranty. After sitting on it for a day and doing my research, I decided to exercise my right to cancel. Upon hearing this the finance manager changed his tune and became very rude. I then hung out with him and got my lawyer on the phone. That seamed to change his tune. I have still yet to receive my refund, as i've been jerked around by the finance department. If I don't see it in a few days, Ill be forced to take legal action. As I said just save yourself the headache and check out a reputable dealer. The reviews here dont lie.

Avoid Timmons - Go to another VW dealer

by occarbuyer on 09/27/2009

I've been looking to lease or purchase a VW, did the research, figured out what I must realistically pay. But Timmons exercise fradulence in every aspect of their sales approach. They run ridiculous Ads in the LA Times on the weekend - reassure you over and over on the phone that the Ads are real - OFFER, to come and pick you up, only to have some bad cop Manager come in at the last minute and say that "there's been some mistake" - in one case - that the LA Times goofed up the AD - not just on one car, but on every single Car advertised. I work in Advertising - there's no way, no how those Ads weren't signed off on. Anyway - it seems to me the mistake is all Timmons, and their idea of how to increase client base. if you piss people off so much, and you keep doing it, per the reviews on Google saying more or less what I am - then we will carry that with us and go out of our way to tell everyone about our lousy car shopping experience. Do not shop at Timmons - they do not deserve clients because they treat them like idiots. In a contrasting note - I went to [another dealership]. I did not buy the car, or have not yet, but [the salesperson] let me test drive peacefully - never once pulled any stunt or hassled me. When I am ready, I will go back and buy the car - and I will send my friends.

New Vehicle Purchase

by tjnixon on 08/22/2009

Recently purchased new 2009 Touareg 2. The Timmions Sale Team was professional and worked with me to make the deal happen. Very satisfied with how the sales transition was handled. Would recommend this dealership again.

don't believe what they say

by ocjack on 07/12/2009

their sales agents will say whatever to get you into their showroom. once you are there, it is a whole new ball game. completely different pricing, completely different selections. when you call them out on the difference, they just say, "we are just trying to close the deal," as if lying is justified if they can get you to set foot in their showroom.

Strange Experience + Scare Tactics

by mirandajanell on 06/13/2009

2 nights ago my partner and I went to Timmons VW so that I could check out the 2009 Jetta TDI. We did not see another soul anywhere. There was a TDI near the customer parking area, we walked over and looked at it for a few minutes before walking into the sales floor. The sales floor was also seemingly devoid of life. We found an information desk behind one of the SUV's and asked to speak to a sales associate. It was a little strange talking to the sales associate at first, he hadn't really asked any questions up front and I was feeling a bit uneasy about the experience, until the salesman went to get the key so that he could open it up and show us everything. It was like a different person came back, he started asking questions and he was pretty knowledgeable. This is not what I had expected before he went to get the key. One of the questions he had asked me was what kind of car I was currently driving. I told him that I drive a 2006 Saturn Ion-3 Sedan with the sport package. He then commented that he likes the Saturn brand and that I have a nice vehicle. He then asked if I'd like to test drive it, so we took it out, and I loved it. When we got back he asked me on a 0 to 10 scale, zero being you're going to go jump in your car leave and never consider VW again, and 10 being you want to buy this right now no questions asked, where would you rate this vehicle. I told him I'd rate it as an 8. Naturally he followed up with what they could do to make it a 10. I told him it would need all of the features I want and VW offers almost all of them. I made it clear that I was just researching at the current time and he inquired as to what other vehicles I was considering. I told him the Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid. He commented that I really liked Saturns. I corrected him and said I love Saturns. I continued to tell him that I fell in love with Saturn when my mom bought an S series quite a few years ago. When I first drove my current vehicle I fell in love with it immediately and that the only reason I'm in the market is because of troubles with my knee which is making it harder for me to operate a manual transmission. One thing that had me raising an eyebrow was that the salesman had mentioned that the TDI w/ navigation is rare but they could add one that was like the factory system. Maybe it's just my great experience with Saturn shining through, but they told me that if they don't have the vehicle with the exact specifications that I want then they will order it for me. I just think that is something that should be standard across all dealers. Another thing that made me raise an eyebrow was when I had asked if VW had a service like OnStar, BMW Assist, HondaLink, etc. The salesman started telling me about their new vehicle replacement option and never answered my question. He also never answered my question about whether or not a HomeLink system could be installed. I had told the salesman that I definitely want one with the navigation and I'd like to see one with it. He said they didn't have a TDI with the navigation but he could show me the navigation system on another vehicle. He took us to the show room to a Toureg 2 and opened it up and I played with it for a few minutes. When I was finished I thanked him for all of his help, and he asked if I was sure there wasn't anything they could do for me that night. I declined but did ask him for a brochure and his business card so that I could contact him when I am ready to buy. When he returned the sales manager walked out and introduced himself. He said "I understand you drive a Saturn, you know that they are going out of business right?" Ok right then and there I'm thinking, you're a [violative content deleted] and I know exactly where you are trying to go with this, you're trying to scare me into buying now. I responded, "No they aren't, they were sold to Penske." To which he replied "I know, but they are going to stop making them with the 2010 vehicles." Again I'm think

Small dealership with pretty good service

by philip17 on 02/21/2008

I was shopping for a used Jetta TDI and found one on this lot. I was immediately approached by a young salesman who was helpful but it was the same old kind of car buying experience. I called later and made a deal with the manager on the phone for the car. I went back in to buy it and had to wait forever to get into the F&I office but once in there I didn't get the hard sell. I am in dealerships a lot and this place struck me as having so decent sales people and probably a little less game playing as many other places. Of course, try to approach them through the internet department to get the best deal.

most disappointing experience; wasted hours, unprofessional and dishonest

by run4 on 09/04/2007

I just got back from attempting to buy a 2008 VW Rabbit and I had an experience I will never forget. I offered the price on a 2008, "RED TAGGED CAR" listed @ $19,199. After an inordinate amount of time, a supervisor came back with the salesman to tell us there had been a mistake. Timmons had made an error on the pricing and that the car was actually $19,999. Then the supervisor said he will give me the 2.9% financing on the vehicle and quoted me the monthly payment for 48 months. I accepted the deal at the new price of $ 19,999. The original salesman came over and began going over my future car, its features and told me that the car was being waxed for delivery. At this time I bought insurance for the vehicle and had it faxed to Timmons VW. Well, after a few minutes of discussing the vehicle, the finance associate came carrying a big file and revealed that the supervisor had made a mistake and that they could not offer me the 2.9% financing that had been agreed upon. Do these people know what they are doing or is this a sham? I believe this was a sham because a big corporation cannot be in business if they continuously make frequent "mistakes". Furthermore, the prices had been in the cars for the weekend Labor Day Sale, so how was this "mistake" not caught earlier, and finally how did they forget that the interest rates did not apply to this particular car when the rates had been offered for several months? Despite the dealership agreeing to two offers (one by falsely advertising and the other verbal) and then reneging on the agreements, they insisted that I was getting a great deal. This was a huge disappointment because the support staff was competent and respectful (salesman) but could not make up for the dishonest and unethical policies of the superiors.
