Do not Go to them

by Rick W on 12/20/2019

They are extremely pushy, unwelcoming, and not trustworthy. Yes, they DO NOT GIVE YOUR ID BACK! I thought it was just me, after reading these reviews, I see its their nature to do so with every body. I asked them questions on the car and they said we can only answer if you say you're okay with the price of the car and will buy it. How can one buy without being sure about the car!

Horrible Dealership

by pepperbofb on 11/10/2018

I dealt with Norma and left sitting around for long periods wasting time, not to mention they showed me a dirty SUV. I had a pre approval and went there explaining I did not want my credit ran again and wanted to use my deal only. I was told by Norma this was ok and they needed stubs and then i could sign paperwork. Left sitting so long I had to go and was told i could come tomorrow and sign the documents. The next day they never called and said they did, then told me they had another buyer but if i get there soon it was first come first serve. I showed up told her i was buy the insurance, she walked off saying ok and disappeared. When the insurance needed the vin i was told the car was not there and Norma was gone on a test drive. The longest test drive i ever seen, I left and then was told they were trying to find me another deal. I was pissed I told the liars to not run my credit again. While most of the staff just sits around. Stay Away

Push, tricky, untrustworthy

by ontheway on 11/19/2017

Remember to take back your id card!!!! They will not give it back if you do not ask for it!! I forgot my id there and call them, but they just told me they need to check with some "sales manager" and will call me back. Then no response at all. After I go their place again, they give it back to me only after I insist that they do not give back my id. I really feel lucky that I do not purchase my car the first time I went there.

Worst "Customer Service" Ever! STAY AWAY!!

by Ecarguy12 on 03/22/2016

This place is a joke. If you want to test drive a car, forget it. They will use all the high-pressure sales tricks in the book to try to close a deal immediately (including holding your license hostage after the test drive - which is on a track, not a highway btw). If that doesn't work, they'll blame you for making them prepare a car for a test drive that you "promised" to buy. Really? Since when does a test drive request (first time driving the car) become a guaranteed sale? Oh, but I made them work and bring me a car to test drive so I deserved the horrible treatment by them, right? Give me a break.

Know what you want

by Lstevo2 on 02/21/2016

I still am puzzled and perplexed by the unacceptable sales experience I received from the gm, Abby, and sales staff at this dealership. Abby took over negotiations when I refused to give my ss number to sales man because I had financing. After we decide on a price then we become personal. Board of directors The consumer has only increased sending by 1%from last year. The new customer behaviors have changed we demand awareness, respect, and knowledg a sales. If you wish to survive the new trends. change

No hassle dealership

by sayayinx on 01/11/2015

I have been to many dealerships but I must say I had a great experience, they were friendly and helped me make the right choice without any bother. Also, received more money for my trade in than what I had in mind base on kbb.com

Rude, untrusthy, deceiving

by Monique2280 on 10/21/2014

I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. Unprofessional people with an attitude problem, untrustworthy, unethical, disrespectful towards women, using sexual jokes in a creepy way. Stay away from this place, their prices are inflated.

these guys write the book on sleazy car salesmen

by daniellemmac on 09/17/2014

these guys write the book on sleazy car salesmen. do not waste your time or money here!! i scheduled an appointment to test drive a car and drove over an hour to get there just to be told the car wouldn't start. very unprofessional. one of the owners, Abbi, told me he would reduce the price to make up for the inconvenience. however, when i purchased the car he refused to honor that offer. i was tired of car searching and wanted to be done with the whole process so i just paid him the money. BIG MISTAKE. i left a yelp review after i bought the car describing my experience. the fact that it reflected poorly on Abbi and his team is not my fault. i was honest in my review. Abbi called me the same day trying to bully me into removing the review. he told me we signed a contract and there were legal implications. there is no such contract. i'm not an idiot, but he might be. 6 days after i bought the car it broke down on the middle of the golden gate bridge. after just 1,000 miles one of the tires ran flat. when i took it to tire shop they told me all the tires were bald on the inside tread. i explained that i had just bought the car and showed him the inspection report provided to me by Team VW that stated there was plenty of tread left (8/32). he and 2 separate tire shops told me that Team VW had lied on the inspection report and that the tires had to have been bald when i drove it off the lot. the true tread was 2/32 on 2 tires, 1/32 on one, and 0/32 on the one that blew. all three shops told me 1,000 miles could not have worn them to their current state if the details on the inspection report were true. these guys are [non-permissible content removed]. but you don't have to take my word for it. look at their yelp page and see all the other people that have had a horrible experience with them and can also attest to their sleazy, shady tactics. if you think you're getting a good deal it's probably because they're scamming you. you'll pay for it in the long run.

Bad, Bad Bad,

by Innocentbuyer on 02/25/2014

This dealership is not honest. Bought a used car from them and within 3 months I had a $650 repair bill; within 6 months I had a $950 repair bill. In addition, I purchased a warranty from them and for both of the repairs, not one single item was covered. Don't be fooled by the friendly veneer, because they are very good at that. All smile, jokes and laughs but the dealership has the last laugh after taking your money and you're left with a lemon.

Extremely Bad Dealership

by JeffG72 on 02/25/2014

I would not recommend anyone buying or leasing a vehicle at Team VW Hayward. This dealership is the most unethical, deceiving, lying, untrustworthy, rude and sarcastic group of people there is in the car industry. If there was ever a typical stereotype of a car dealership and the bad reputation of the same, Team VW Hayward is the ultimate in such a stereotype. There are plenty of other VW and car dealerships in the area that anyone would be much better served.

2013 TDI Sportwagen!!

by csg1492 on 12/12/2013

Abby and Nana were great. After calling around to the other bay area VW dealerships, these guys were $1500 cheaper than everybody else. Zero pressure on the sale, although I knew what I was looking for in advance. The car is awesome and they are letting me bring it in after our holiday road trip to the midwest and get it detailed! Can't wait for the eGolf you guys! Thanks, Chris

Team Volkswagen of Hayward---worst ever dealership

by claren1 on 09/24/2011

Team Volkswagen of Hayward---worst ever dealership Those who are writing good reviews must have been paid by them. SINCE THIS PLACE ARE [violative content deleted]!!! No service guaranteed, LIE guaranteed. I was so stupid not having read the reviews here first. Now I just wish follow buyers keep away from this place. This is my experience. I went to this dealer to pick up my new car. And they told me the WORST LIE IN THE WORLD. I went with a well prepared list of what and how to check. I went in at 4pm. There is one man and one lady came up. I said I want a test drive first since I have not drive the car on highway yet. The man smiled to me and turned around to the lady:" Take them to the bank and get the check." So the lady sat in the car and constantly persuade me to go to the bank ASAP. I said let me check the car first. I came here and I already get all the insurance done. I am gonna to pay. The lady did not listen to me, she just kept on urging all the way and the man called her every 5 mins for six times. I was so annoyed and went to the bank. But after I got the check she immediately stopped talking. I asked her that the gas tank is not full. Could the dealer give me a full tank gas? She said since it was a new car, that it came with perfect service, everything will be full. I asked twice to double check since I need to drive a long way back home. She said do not worry. She would make sure I got it. Later I went in to pay after checking all the parts and a mechanic get my car inside for final service. The man led me into office and ask for the check. He did not check my insurance nor answer any of my questions. He just gave me the manual, tell me to read and kicked me out after i gave him the check by saying that I had never seen anyone like you examining a new car like that, you were the first! I said "why not? it is my first car." He laughed out loud "I have been here for a long time. You are the first to do that. Unbelievable. Hahaha!" I went out and wait for the car for 15 mins. When it came out I saw the gas tank was still a little bit below 1/4, the number after my test driving (1/4 is before my test driving). When I was trying to find the lady who promised me a full tank of gas, it turned out the lady was gone. So I found the man who got my check and asked for the gas. The man said in an arrogant voice "You can ask around. No dealer does that. I never provide that." I said "I asked twice and the lady promised me." Then he called the lady and said to her "Hey, the man said you promised him something?" The lady was on speaker"Yeah, the gas." The man said "Hey! hey! You are on speaker!" The lady immediately changed her tone "I never promised anything. I just say I need to ask my boss." I said "YOU ARE LING! HOW CAN YOU TELL SUCH A BAD LIE?! If you need to ask your boss, why are you off work now?! And you said yes before he remind you are on the speaker!" The man hang it out before I finished and said "I am not ling" with a face saying "yes, I am. I lied, so what?!" I said "Ok, this is the WORST LIE I have ever heard in the world. It is just 3/4 tank of gas. Your credit is worth 3/4 tank of gas." This is the service I got. I am so fortunate that I checked all the parts. I cannot imagine if there is something wrong how much worse the dealer will be. They are the group of people to LIE shamelessly just in front of you. I just wish to share my experience and hope everyone who has a car or who is going to buy a car will never have a chance to be cheated by them.

Hayward Dealer Bait and Switch...Do Not Trust Them.

by autobuy4 on 08/22/2010

Bait-and-switch In retail sales, a bait and switch is a form of fraud in which the party putting forth the fraud lures in customers by advertising a product or service at a low price or with many features, then reveals to potential customers that the advertised good is not available at the original price or list of assumed features, but something different is. This use of this term has extended to similar situations outside of the marketing sense. That is exactly what they did. I got there and the sales person ALEX acted like he did not know what car I was asking for.... I had spoken to him about 5 times and also an hour before arriving to the dealership and he told me as many times before, he is getting the car ready for us. The manager and him are both bunch of [violative content deleted]...which you want to stay away from... They tell you we have a deal .... no matter how specific you get ,,, you will find your self stuck in there for hours. We left as soon as we heard,,,,, WE WILL GET THE CAR FOR YOU.. Oh yeah... [violative content deleted].........I am copying this to all sites for warn as many as I can to avoid them.....Good Luck.

Top notch dealership!

by vwluv on 07/06/2010

When researching dealerships in the San Francisco Bay Area, sadly (and erroneously) you will quickly find negative reviews about this dealership on the Internet. Folks seem to want to go out of their way to speak poorly of this dealership for no good reason, truly. However, if you take a second look, you will notice that it is usually the same group of people who simply have nothing good to say about anything. So, read what they have to say, but take everything with a grain of salt and always make up your own mind first. That is exactly what my husband and I did. We initially had our doubts (big time!) because, like you, we had also read all those awful reviews. But, we decided to make up our own minds, take the reviews with a grain of salt, and give the dealership the benefit of the doubt. After all, they offered the best price and promised not to disappoint. The worst thing that could happen was that we would have wasted an hour of our time. But, turns our, that they did not waste our time! We arrived very skeptical and ready to leave the "bargaining table" should the reviews on the internet prove to be true. Instead, we were treated like friends and the sales reps were awesome! We got the price as negotiated via e-mail, everything was as discussed and in black and white for us to see, not one extra charge thrown in at the last minute, the car was what we had discussed, and the sales reps (Jake, Abby, and Jay) and the finance manager (Sami) were down to earth, straightforward, and amazingly friendly and helpful. Simply put, of all the cars we have ever purchased, this was by far the more pleasant and honest transaction of all. Sure, like us, you might think the dealer wrote this and I would not blame you because, after all, dealers do write their own reviews at times. However, this one was written by a couple who truly did have a good experience and would like you to take the time to get in touch with Team Volkswagen of Hayward and make up your own minds. Discuss what you are looking for and negotiate. We are willing to bet that you won't be disappointed - we were not and are now enjoying our super cool VW. Thank you guys! Keep up the good work...

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THESE [violative content deleted] PEOPLE

by crosbylady on 12/14/2009

This VW dealership is now known as Team Volkswagon. They are [violative content deleted] people. Check them out on BBB. There they get an F and 15 customer complaints! As for me, I wish I could give them less than a one! I guess it is my fault for letting my 81 year old husband go for a "test drive" whilst I was elsewhere. He came home with a new VW jetta wagon diesel, which is the car he wanted, but he was talked into overpaying by several thousand dollars. Unfortunately he paid them with a check (which they promptly cashed). To add insult to injury they gave him a mere $2,750 for his 9 year old Nissan Quest van which had only 48,000 miles on it. I wanted that van for our grandson! When I found out how little they had paid for his Nisson van, we drove back to the VW dealership and said we wanted to buy the van back. At first Jay (a salesman) said okay because the van had major problems like needing a $400 brake job because the brakes were 95% gone. Then he said the red light that indicated the windshield reservoir was empty stayed on (this light had been on for two years and we had already told them that fact) therefore the entire electrical system was bad and would need to be replaced for $1,600. After telling us what bad shape the van was in, Jay said at anyway the van was in their repair shop.with the tires off--but come the next day, Monday, we could buy it back for the $2,750. Today is Monday, the supervisor Sammy, will not let us buy the van back . Oh, I just learned that I can get a new brake job for $150--if it really needs it--and a licensed Nissan mechanic says that the red light on the windshield reservoir indicated a burned out sensor. What [violative content deleted]. How demeaning. We got taken by this dealership. All I can do is cry about the fact that I have a too trusting husband and their are some [violative content deleted] people who will take advantage of unwary senior without a second thought. Please do not do business with these [violative content deleted] people. VWs are fine cars but this dealership, its salesmen and supervisors are not good people.

Shockingly bad experience at Hayward VW- both Sales & Service.

by vwbuyerunhappy on 08/20/2008

Shockingly bad experience at Hayward VW- both Sales & Service. Here are the details on my experience: 1.) Purchased used VW Passat and was only given valet key. One agent told me there was an additional key for the car. Second agent told me that the used car key board could not be accessed until Monday (no keys available on the busiest selling days?) Both agents promised to call me first thing Monday morning about the key (Ray and Abby.) 2.) No call on Monday about the key from either agent. I called Abby on Tuesday, was put on hold for a few minutes and then told there was no key but that they would sell me a new key at cost ($175.) I expressed my disbelief in anyone checking for the key and dissatisfaction with the dealership. 3.) My personal mechanic checked out the car and discovered a serious oil leak. I went to the dealership to have it fixed and was initially given the runaround and had to wait over an hour for an authorized agent to tell the service dept. to proceed with a repair. I ordered a new key to be made at the same time. 4.) Yesterday, the service dept. manager, Robert, called with "good news." They had found a "used" key box for the "newly cut" key to "save" us money and would be reducing the key cost from $175 to $140. 5.) Today, we picked up the car and "new" key to discover it was the original/old key for the car that we were supposed to have been given initially. This was confirmed by more than one person in the service department. The key box was very old, the "cut" part of the key was dull and dirty, and the original laminated/used car tag was still on the key! Summary: Two sales agents lied about there being a key for our car and/or failed to care enough to check for tagged key on the board. Service dept. manager attempted to charge us $140 for the original used key to the car. At every point, this dealership made it clear they have ZERO integrity and care only about the sale and not the customer, their reputation or future business.
