Re: A4 Lease 04/24/08 [rich50]

Hi, I am looking for some advice. My local Audi dealer in Buffalo is pretty bad and has had nothing but bad words abound by friends and co-workers. I went there looking for a A4 Cabrio (For Lease or possible purchase of a pre-owned) and they had none. The salespeople did not even seem very enthused to offer me any info or point me toward another car. Very disappointed. So I went to Rochester, NY and found a nice 2005 Cabrio with 18K miles but not certified (Sticker was 32k got dealer down to 28k).. I found comparable cars which were certified for 27-28k at other dealers much further away. I want to take advantage of the .9% financing on a 2005/6... but $2500 extra is what it would take! Yuk. So, now the $479/$499 A4 Cabrio lease deals are here, and I would like to get a new A4 Quattro 2.0 (or 3.2) with NAV. And I am apprehensive about both dealers I have went to because they seemed like it would be a hardship to even look for a car that fit the lease deal (and the Rochester one did plead ignorance to the lease deal in the first place). Now I know there seem to be few Cabs in this area, what would be my best bet to find a lease or purchase vehicle? Any recommended dealers in the Northeast?
Audi Lease Offer in NYS

What do our learned group think of the lease offered by Audi for the 2005 A6 3.2L listed below? Only 10K miles allowed per year but I never drive over that amount. Lease offer ends 9/6/05. Probably trying to move out the 2005s. I also noted the $1000 marketing support by Audi on this same model. $569 Monthly Payment 36 Month Term $1999 Down Payment $575 Security Deposit 10000 Annual Mileage Restrictions Lease based on 2005 Audi A6 3.2 quattro with automatic transmission, premium package, convenience package, cold weather package, 17" alloy wheels, NE or CA emissions. Comments $3943 due at signing. Incentives may vary; see your local dealer for details. Tax, tags and insurance are extra.

Have my eye on 98 A4 1.8T Quatro with 76 K. Car has the Sports package and an aftermarket 10 CD changer, 5 spd auto/tip. Some body moldings need replacing plus a chip in windshield. Small rust spot on hood will require total hood repaint. Has not had the timing belt done yet. Drivers sideview is discolored and need replacing. Is this car worth $7700?
I'd like to know where these bank rates being quoted are coming from.

Current loan rates (from Finanial Institutions like banks and Credit Unions) are as low as 3.79% on a loan 60 months or less. Actually ended up with 4.2% when I brought my Ultrasport last September.   Also where are these CD's that offer a rate of return (or APY) of 6%? The best I can find on a national average is less than 4.10% (60 to 84 months). Shorter terms have lower returns.   I would also question the wisdom in buying a car after the lease is up.   Seems counter intuitive since the initial car lease is based on MSRP (or working down from it) and buying it outright in the first place should be based on the invoice price of the car (and working up).   I would think that you'd be paying more for that car in the long run than if you just brought it in the first place.

I'm sure you ran the numbers comparing edmunds pricing and your sale price. Exactly what is a good deal really depends on the parties involved. 3 to 5 percent over the true invoice price of the car is resonable dealer profit. What I'm trying to say is if you got the car you wanted at or near your target price. Then you did well for yourself. Some people may pay a little more, some a little less. It's all relative. Congrats on the new car. I can't wait to pick mind up (post #164). These cars a blast to drive. I'm actually looking foward to winter for a change.
