Shady and unethical sales practices

Please also see my service review. I was going to wait a few more days before writing this review to give Wally Henkel the General Manager a chance to speak with me, but after seeing all these other reviews I now realize my situation isn’t as unique as I thought it was. I’ve also realized that Chris Henkel is the one who responds to the complaints and given that I was at the dealership yesterday and had asked to speak with him and I was told “he was buried under paperwork” and couldn’t talk to me I’ve decided to share my story. They sent someone else to talk with me but it was all excuses and I wasn’t there and you must have misunderstood. Sales: My biggest mistake was meeting with the sales team on a day that my car was undrivable on their lot. We all knew they had me bent over a barrel, but I trusted that they were going to help me. I won’t get into all the gory details, but I had been told to tell them I was a Costco member so I could get the Costco pricing which is the lowest they can go. I was told by Doug that this deal was better and if I showed my Costco card they would have to follow Costco rules and wouldn’t be able to give me this amazing deal. I told him I was unsure about leasing a vehicle and had lots of questions. He told me I would have to talk to finance to get all the details and the only way to talk to finance was to complete an application. I completed the application and while in the finance waiting room I asked for the blank lease agreement twice and didn’t get it. I told them prior to be pulled into the finance office that I was uncomfortable and didn’t want to move forward. This is when I was finally moved to the finance office where Doug, Rusty Anderson the Sales manager and someone from finance spent 2 hours trying to pressure me into signing the lease agreement. I was crying and kept telling them I wanted to leave and think about it all overnight so I could research some things. They told me there was nothing to research. I finally quit talking and was taken back to my car to get my belongings. I was up all night researching and other Toyota dealers have the same vehicle for $3k to $4k less. There was also a rebate on the vehicle and 0 percent financing which I was told I didn’t qualify for due to credit score. I have since met with Brian their internet manager and I was shown the Costco deal for that vehicle. It was better than the deal they were giving me. I saw the invoice. They had told me they were taking a $1500 loss on my deal yet I was still paying over invoice. I was also told my credit score qualified for 0%.

we just purchased 2 new cars from big two Toyota, Michael Kanneg was our sales person and he was excellent. He went above and beyond and made it so easy. His knowledge of the product is second to none, he answered every question we had. He never let any other outside distraction take his attention from us. when we were there we were the only one that he focused on. he always put our needs first. first class guy. our multiple car purchase ran after hours, he had plans with his family but never rushed thru his commitment to satisfy our needs. he stayed late and went over every feature of both the cars. Cant say enough about Michael and Big Two. make sure you ask for him when you visit!!!

Awesome customer service

Me and my husband visited quite a few dealerships looking to lease our first new vehicle. We went here on a whim one night just to browse at some family SUVs. Michael Kanneg greeted us and helped us out. He showed us the new Highlander, which we really liked. Not expecting anything, we went inside to talk numbers and get a payment estimate. Michael and Tony (his manager) were very kind, honest, and super helpful. Not once did we feel rushed or pressured into anything. It was such a relief to have amazing customer service from them after the nightmare sales reps we met at the other dealerships that day! I knew right away we wanted to do business with them because we would be treated right. We were able to take home the vehicle for the night to see how we liked it. The next day we came back and got an awesome deal on our lease! I can't thank Michael K enough for being so friendly, straightforward, and genuine. We even had an emergency situation come up in the middle of financing and everyone was very accommodating to us. Chandler Toyota has a customer for life!! And we absolutely love our 2016 Highlander! :)

Used Car Purchase

My husband and I recently purchased a used car from Big Two. Car shopping is usually pretty stressful for us. We had been to two other dealerships and quickly remembered why I hate buying vehicles. We knew we wanted a Toyota so we ended up at Big Two. We ran into Monty who LISTENED to our needs and wants of a vehicle. He was patient and not pushy at all. He took the time to get to know us and our family's needs. We ended up purchasing a used Toyota Highlander and are very happy. I can't speak for any of other sales associates but if you decide to buy from Big Two, ask for Monty! You will not be disappointed!

Avoid Dealership - No Cooling Period

Pro's: The salesman were very nice. Great price and quick agreement - Maybe too quick and for internet buyers like me, this is where I advise another dealership ;( Con's: The day after I bought the car, I took it on my normal drive to work (50 miles - Scottsdale and back to Gilbert) I didn't feel like it was breaking and accelerating well. It aslo started to get uncomfortable witht he ay it was accelerating. I called and shared that I wanted to return the car. I also asked for a copy of the agreement to understand their cooling off period (This is what tells you how long you have to return the car if it doesn't meet your satisfaction). The sales men forwarded me to the sales manager who said he would send it to me. (Note, I asked for a copy of the agreement upon purchase and they said they would email it next day.) After 3 hours, I hadn't received it so i called again. This is where it got very very odd. I was told they didn't have the contract and that they couldn't tell me who the loan was with. I told him I felt uncomfortable and wanted to read the agreement and he said there was no way to get it. I started feeling like something was going on and so I called their partner dealership (BigTwo Toyota Scion). They said all of the financial information and agreement was accessible by computer and were unsure why the other dealership couldn't find it. I asked a friend what might be going on who was a GM of a dealership chain for 10 years and he shared dealerships will do this when they are waiting for the loan to process and don't want the customer to cancel or do anything to stall the bank from getting them their money. Ultimately I called the GM and shared the experience. He told me that he wasn't concerned with me not having an agreement and that the car was un-returnable. Keep in mind at this point, I had the car for 16 hours. It was in perfect condition and I even offered 500 and the cost of detailing the car. So, for them, no harm - no foul. For me - No agreement, lost 4000 deposit and now with a car i feel uncomfortable with. Many dealerships are honest and stand behind their cars. I recommend to avoid dealerships with no cooling off period on agreements. They will rush you and then leave you for dead. So, I am now 24 hours with no contract or copy of my car purchase loan or purchase agreement. I am scared and don't know what is going on. No agreement, lost 4000 deposit and now with a car i feel uncomfortable with. I have asked the GM to reach back out to me and I will share the outcome. I understand if there are things that happen like this with middle management because they are given rules to follow and sometimes left to interpret them but I hope that the GM and owners of Big Two reconcile this experience. I will be sure to follow-up with the outcome. To my salesman, I appreciated the deal on the car. Unfortunately, a good deal does not make up for dishonesty and non disclosure of agreements. This needs to be made right. I am scared and left with a car I don't feel good about.

Ask For Monty Dyke !!!

Ask For Monty Dyke it will be the best car buying experience you have ever had! In Feb we bought a 2015 4runner from Monty. He was amazing, honest, no pressure, no tactics .. he talked with us learned about us and helped us get a great deal. Fast forward to last Saturday. We received a voice mail from someone at Big 2 soliciting a great trade on our older Rav. I called Monty, not because we were in the market for a car but because we were upside down on that Rav and if there was anyone that would shoot straight about what options we had if any it would be Monty Dyke. Monty is the epitome of integrity and he walked us through the options - he worked tirelessly that entire day to help us get a great deal on a 2015 Rav4 for the same exact payment. We love Monty and highly recommend his professionalism, his ability to shoot straight without ever pressuring anyone and his ability to meet your needs. Monty understands and will work tirelessly because he actually cares about you. He is knowledgeable and sincere. I guarantee it will be an amazing car buying experience if you ask for Monty Dyke.

Treated like family

What a difference it makes when you deal with someone who genuinely treats you with respect. I am a shopper and I always look for the best deal, but to get the best deal can mean dealing with the "undisclosed" fees or charges when all you want is an upfront honest price. Jeff did that and warned me about the other "offers". He was right and I now have a contact in the car business for life! Don't get the run around, get the real deal and call Jeff or Brian in the internet department. They are very professional and the facility there is beautiful! Thank you guys!

Awesome Experience with Jeff Capshaw

I contacted Jeff Capshaw via phone by referral from another site. Jeff went to work on finding the vehicle and model I was looking for and within minutes had a price with a couple of different options. He was also able to give me an approximate evaluation of my trade-in. Was so simple and within hours of reaching out to him, I was driving my new car home! Throughout the experience, Jeff took the time to listen to what I was looking for and did not try to push me in another direction just because that is what was available. I really appreciated the no-hassle approach and lack of typical car dealership haggling. As easy as the process was and the professionalism of this dealership in my experience, I will definitely return for my car-buying needs in the future! On top of delivering everything we asked for, they provided lunch plus a card for a free manicure and pedicure for my wife at the dealership whenever she would like to schedule! The entire facility is top-notch with a small cafe', a barber, and a spa to enjoy while finishing a deal or waiting on service. Ask for Jeff in the internet/fleet department if you want a truly excellent experience!

I have never had a better car buying experience. I worked with Jeff in the internet department. He knew exactly what would fit into my budget and made sure I got exactly what I needed and wanted. After looking at many vehicles I changed my mind about the style and features I wanted and he was happy to accommodate. He did everything possible to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and found the truck that met my needs. Pleasing Experience thanks to MONTY DYKE

When your purchasing a new car the use of words, "Pleasing Experience" sounds ridiculous, but it was. I've been purchasing new cars for 50+ years and this was an entirely new experience. On June 4, 2015 I purchased a new COROLLA LE ECO Plus at BIG TWO TOYOTA. And thanks to MONTY DYKE, my sales consultant, along with the Sales Mgr. and Finance Mgr., I came away very happy and impressed. Prior to shopping for this vehicle I had researched the pricing (MSRP, Dealer Cost, Trade-in values, etc.), so I was prepared as to what exactly I was willing to pay. But, I still was not looking forward to the actual purchasing experience. I had appointments at two other dealers and Big Two was an impulse stop, and my only stop. When I met Monty I told him exactly what car I wanted and what I was willing and not willing to pay for. Also, what I wanted on my trade-in. We talked to the Sale Manager, Angel Romero, and after a little pleasant bargaining I was shown exactly what I wanted, with some extras I didn't even expect, at a price I was more than happy with. Monty Dyke is one of the most pleasant, informed and customer oriented car salesmen I have ever met. Nice job Monty and Big Two !!!!

Very Satisfied Buyer

My wife and I had the great fortune to meet Monty Dyke on the showroom floor while waiting for our 2009 Camry to be serviced. I had already decided it was time to purchase a new Camry when we went in to Big Two. We took a demo ride in a new Camry with Monty. We were both impressed with all details about the car's features that Monty could explain. We left that day with an idea of the price range for our 2009 and the 2015, There was no high pressure tactics as we wound up our discussion. We both found Monty easy to work with from start to finish. We were never moved to a middle manager to work the deal Monty is confident and experienced in working with customers and representing Big Two. We were never transferred to other managers to make the deal. We highly recommend that anyone looking to buy a new Toyota to call Monty first and go meet with him!

Monty Dyke is the best salesman I've ever dealt with. He's professional and knowledgeable, important in car buying. He knew their inventory and how each car operated and all the features. He was so respectful and courteous, I felt like royalty. He and the sales manager worked to obtain the best deal for us. I seriously won't buy a car anywhere else. I'm so happy with my new Prius!! I took a stack of business cards, and have already handed them out!!

Our experience with Big Two of Chandler was great! All due to the sales rep Monty Dyke. Monty was never pushy and was very accurate about the details. I finally drove away with the exact 2015 Highlander XLE that my wife and I wanted although they were in short supply and very popular! I purchased this car the week my wife was due for labor which may have been a bad decision, but my sales guy Oscar Guglielmo made my buying experience a breeze. He listened to what I wanted and didn't try to push other cars on me. After our first meeting I got a call that night that he found my car and could have it to me. He made sure I test drove similar models and explained the differences and benefits of each one. I am an engineer and had tons of questions. Oscar was able to answer them on the spot or get back to me shortly with the answers. My wife went into labor early which threw a curve ball in the deal. Oscar was very understanding and held the car for me and had it ready for pickup once we got out of the hospital. He also coordinated a follow-up trip to the detail area to have the "Big-Two" decal removed by my request. The paperwork process was also a breeze and took less than 30 minutes which helped with a new Mom and baby waiting. Later Oscar followed up to make sure the car was working out great and to see if I had any questions and was able to help me program my garage door opener over the phone! I am in the market for a used Tacoma and won't even consider going to another dealer or salesman. Big Two has a customer for life with me and my family.

MONTY DYKE was the BEST

I went into this dealership apprehensive that I would be just wasting my time, but instead it was time well spent. Monty took the time to really listen to me and instead of being a typical car salesman, he was not pushy at all!!!! He let me test drive several cars and answered all my questions. When it came down time for the negotiations, I truly felt he was my advocate and I believe that I did receive my best deal from Monty. Thank you Monty- Jon

Monty was awesome!

Brought my 2012 Highlander in to Big Two Toyota this morning and got lucky. Monty Dyke happened to stop by and said hello, and I told him I was thinking about getting a new Highlander. (The 2012 is my third and I love it.) Before I knew it I was in a 2015 Highlander driving on the highway with Monty and I was hooked. The 2015 model is over the top! Long story short, before the day was out I was buying the car and I am ecstatic. Monty is professional and well-informed, and was able to clearly answer every question I asked. He showed my all the new wonderful "bells and whistles" and I loved it. Not only would I come back for my next Highlander, but I would want Monty to sell it to me. I always have a good experience at Toyota, but this was the best. Thank you Monty!
