My husband and I have spoken on several occasions to a salesman inquiring about an 05 Chevrolet Equinox advertised on Autotrader. We were told that the vehicle was in sound condition and encouraged to drive down to test drive it and negotiate a deal. The salesman was aware that we were travelling from Huntsville and it was at least 2.5 hours away. He stated that he would be on the lot until 7:00. We called while en route at 6:00 to make sure the car was on the lot and let him know we were on our way. Reid had already left and another salesman offered to show us the car. Before unlocking the car, the salesman plainly stated, " When I crank this car, you aren't going to want to buy it." The car failed to crank on the first try. When it did finally crank, the oil light was on and the engine was knocking loudly. Obviously, it was a known fact that this car was NOT in sound condition and neither salesmen let us know this PRIOR to our 3 hour drive down to test drive this specific car. Of course, the salesman offered to show us other cars on the lot. We had told the first salesman that we were looking for a Chevrolet Equinox or Mitsubishi Endeavor and at no time did he bother to let us know that he had neither in good working condition. It is my opinion that we were lured onto the lot in hopes that we would find another vehicle to buy when we realized that the Equinox was a lemon. It cost us 3 hours of our time and $50 in gas to make a pointless trip to Sylacauga to see a vehicle that was known to be in poor condition.
