Re: New incentives? [tastycakes55]

Predicting incentive is like reading tea leaves... no one knows Having said that last sept/Oct incentives were 4K because 1) Gas was >$4.50 (in CA) 2) dealers were flushed with MDX 3) Economy was in much worse shape 5) Pessimism was very high... Now 1) Gas is around 3.50 2) Honda has controlled the inventory/cut production 3) There is little optimism about economy 4) General pessimism is leas then last year... So I do not see why the incentives will increase... but then who can predict these things

An Example For the purchase of a $30,000 vehicle with 7% state sales tax, the taxpayer would receive a $2,100 tax deduction. The actual tax savings depends on the amount of sales and excise tax paid in your state and on your tax rate. Ask your dealer about your state's tax rates. Keep in mind that its deduction not credit,,, So if you are 15% tax bracket your savings are 0.15*2100=$315... Thats just 300 on a 30K car...Is your time worth that much? Also if you are living in a high state tax states like CA, NY, NJ and are making >80K and have a mortgage deduction then probability is VERY HIGH that you are subject to AMT...then no deduction for you!!! I am not a CPA...but devil is in the details I believe tax deduction should not be considered at all in a anything that is an expense. For me if it is an expense it driven by two things 1) Passion and/or 2) Value/Utility This is what I would consider 1) Do you like the looks of 2010 or 2009 (Front grill is different) 2) New transmission for Acura. Are you OK with it? Last time when honda/acura went from 4 speed to 5 speed it was a disaster. Transmission failing at 65K to 70K miles. Go read threads on MDX/Accord/TL board regarding 2000/2001 transmission 3) How badly you need car now 4) Time value of money Vs. Timing of car buying

Dealer will say what they have to...take it with a big grain of salt...also take the postings here with a "small pinch" of salt. Lot depends on the dealers overhead, presence of other direct competitors (other Acura Dealers) and indirect competitors (Infiniti, Audi, etc). Having said that back in sept I bought 08 MDX with tech and power tailgate for 35746 + TTL (38.8K OTD). I test drove the car couple of times at the local dealer in in San Diego, CA. When I was ready to buy the car I sent emails from the dealers website to all dealers within 200 miles. Acura of mission Vejio (70 miles) came back with the above quote. I contacted local dealer and told him that I am willing to give him 35746 + 500 = 36246 +TTL for all his time and for my time to not drive 70 miles each way. After three days of thinking and back and forth bickering about prices local dealer said he cannot do it... This is what probably happened... 1) Local dealer has very high overhead 2) San Diego has less competition compare to orange county & south LA 3) Large volume dealers are more willing to go into holdback. After my deal was done my salesman did say that "ON PAPER" we lost money on this car...but you know it as well as I do that its not the case. The dealership has made money as they are paying for the showroom/salaries etc. So may be your local dealer has high overheads etc. Look at cars direct.com and if you are within 500 to 1000 of carsdirect price I will buy it....

If I just told them, "Look, I'll give you $32K for it.", would I be insulting them or would that be in the ballpark? No you are not insulting him... Back in early sept I got an email offer from a dealer in orange county CA Base 32574 Tech + PTG 36246 over the phone we agreed on $500.00 less for any car in stock. Salesman kept his word when we reach there. I decided on Tech + PTG.. Went in there.. bought the car and was out in few hours... No negotiations were done at the dealership.. Only final test drive... etc. 35746 + 70 doc fee + TTL = 38880 OTD in California If I would have gone with base it would be 32074 + 70 + TTL

I just paid 27800/including Lo-Jack + TTL 7.75% San Diego tax, with 2.9% for 60Months for a 2008 base TL. I love the car and I think it was a good deal.

Yes, you can now get the .9 and 2.9% with the rebate. Base model, $33,000 + $45 doc fee. I'll pay tax and license out of state. I had a trade. Don't use the POS dealer in Las Vegas on Sahara! I bought from San Diego,CA and got $5,500 more for my trade and $7,500 more discount. supermodel, you got a great deal. Was that the bottom line or did they add destination, doc fees, etc.?
