Anybody here from Phoenix?
by nonamerequired on Fri Mar 14 17:00:27 PDT 2008
Hello ladies (and the few gentlemen around :-) ). Anybody here from around Phoenix AZ? Moving there in exactly 3 months and will be buying one of these beauties :P (Tech). I saw there are three dealers in and around Phoenix (Scottsdale, Peoria, Tempe) and was wondering which one of it would you recommend. Also, what kind of deals can be had? People all over the country seem to be getting great deals at or around invoice, but didn't find anything from Phoenix. Oh, I almost forgot... I'd really like to get the perforated leather, but couldn't care less about the rest of that sport package. Did you, phoenicians, go for it? Thanks

I just made a deal with Acura North Scottsdale for a Carbon Bronze w/ Taupe TL-S - by far the best color combo, I believe. I shopped all the Phoenix area dealers and Chapman in Tucson. (I'll never deal with Chapman again - apparently being the only Tucson Acura dealer they feel they have a captive audience, though Pheonix is only an hour and a half away!) I'm very happy with the deal: 36 months / 10K MF: .00101 Residual: .55% $34.1K + $750 accessory package (approx.) $0 down (just tax, license, etc - normal charges) $517 per mo including 8.1% tax Super internet manager - straight forward, no BS, no game-playing - highly recommended. To anyone in Tucson, look a little North for a more pleasant shopping experience. :)
rude tempe internet dealer

After reading the forums and getting an initial offer of $27,000 for a base tsx my friend (the buyer) and I went into the Tempe, Az acura dealership. The internet dealer we were in contact with greeted us and instantly we could tell that he was sterotyping us. We are both 25, he's a CPA and I'm a teacher. He showed us the car in the showroom and we told him that we were interested in test driving, he brushed us off saying he had to unload cars from a shipment that just came in. At this point we became frustrated and were going to take our business to scottsdale. On our way out a very pleasant dealer greeted us and offered to take us on a test drive right away. After waiting a couple minutes the internet dealer comes running up saying he's now ready to take us. We assumed the 2 dealers talked and internet guy took over. It turns out he saw us with the nice dealer and rushed to get back to us totally undermining the nice dealer. To make a long story short we liked the nice dealer (obviously) and he was willing to work on the price with us. As he's talking to his manager, internet sales guy sees us talking business (and probably realizes that my friend is serious about buying) and conveniently steps in as soon as nice guy leaves. We were polite to him (even though we wanted to tell him to leave us alone and he's a jerk) and told him what nice guy was doing for us. He screamed at us telling us that no one is selling 08 tsx's below $27,000 (+tax title etc) and $29000 OTD is ridiculous and we're wasting HIS TIME! He repeated himself many times and we became offended by his tone and rudeness. We kept our cool and told him that we know what they've been selling tsx's for. After that he told us to get up and out of his dealership! So we did. Nice dealer called to apologize but said 27k was as low as they go. Has anyone encountered this type of dealer at acura? It was my first time but i expected much more. Also, was our request worth him telling us to get out and leave? Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I purchased the same vehicle from Acura of Peoria about 2 months ago for $41,500 it is a decent deal considering the extras. It is the best deal you will find in AZ. They were honest and processed the transaction quickly and were true to their word. Beware of Scottsdale Acura. Scottsdale Acura lacks integrity and honesty. Personal integrity is more than honesty. Being honest is when your words represent reality. Integrity is when your actions are true to your words; when you "walk your talk". Your future rests on your integrity: good deeds and bad deeds follow you like your shadow. Your reputation often precedes you Having purchased several vehicles from Scottsdale Acura in the past, I was appalled at their tactics and lack of integrity.

So finally got the MDX this weekend from Peoria, AZ. This was the final price i paid for the MDX with Tech and Entertainment. Selling Price: $42638.54 Sales Tax: 3453.72 Licence,Trfer Title & Registration: $783.74 Tire fee: $5.00 Doc fee:369.00 TOTAL OTD: $47250.00 Based on the dealer the car included the add on package (window tint, wheel locks, cargo tray, door edge guards & zak tek polymer coating).Tried to get rid of the high doc fee, but dealer would not go any lower. All in all very good experience. Finance took longer than expected as they went over all the extra addons...but I politely declined all of them and no pressure from them to buy. I think i did good with the price, considering that we live in AZ.I agree with "toast" 100%. . Also if i were in AZ, i would not even bother going to acura of Tempe or Scottsdale. Tempe never bothered to send a quote and Scottsdale doesnt even come close to Peoria's pricing.

I don't think your price is too bad for Arizona. It looks like your offer came from the Acura of Peoria dealer. I purchased a vehicle from them about a month and a half ago the MDX w/Tech for $41,500 which included the add on package. If the Sport package adds $1,500 in value that is probably the best deal you will get in AZ. I looked at purchasing out of state and by the time you factor in flights, hotels, gas and meals it was a wash for me. However, if you are planning a business trip to the east coast you will save some money by purchasing out of state. You could also have the vehicle transported to AZ which might save you some money. My experience with Acura of Peoria was good. A little long in the finance area despite our rejection of all of the offers. I would avoid Scottsdale Acura. I found them to be dishonest, lacking character even though I had purchased 2 vehicles previously from them. Good luck I really enjoy the MDX. See message 4536 above for more info on AZ dealers and my buying experience.
