Volvo finally fixed it

I bought mine in November 2025. I figured out based on all reviews that all problems were related with software rather then hardware and couldn’t resist 20k total discount offered. Also unlike many reviewers I don’t miss the buttons, specially the ones you don’t use very often. After the latest software upgrade including a new CPU all paid by Volvo, this car is fabulous. I haven’t encountered any issues in the last 6 months. Superb design, very quiet and comfortable interior, very enjoyable ride even with the basic engine. Bowers & Wilkins audio makes you want to stay in the car after you arrive and listen to the music longer. Look like it took Volvo an extra year to get it done, but they finally nailed it.

Comfortable, Quiet, and Much Improved

I’ve spent meaningful time with the EX90, and my overall impression is very positive. As a complete package, it is the most comfortable and technologically advanced Volvo I’ve personally driven. What stands out first is the ride quality. The powertrain feels smooth and responsive, and the suspension does a very good job of absorbing rough pavement and potholes, especially noticeable on NJ roads after winter. The cabin is also exceptionally quiet, which makes daily driving and longer trips much more relaxing. Range has been solid for my use case. For normal day-to-day driving, regular AC charging or home wallbox charging has been more than enough to keep the vehicle topped off. On longer road trips, access to the Tesla Supercharger network has also gone a long way toward easing range anxiety and making trip planning feel much more manageable. On the technology side, the software did have issues early on. That part is real. But in my experience, the vehicle improved steadily with each update. Since version 2.1.22, I have not run into any meaningful bugs, and the earlier lock/unlock issues have mostly been resolved. I still get the occasional hiccup, but using the Volvo app has been a simple workaround when needed. Coming from several Volvo plug-in hybrids, mainly the XC90, moving fully into electrification felt like a big step at first. In practice, though, it has been the right move for me. The EX90 feels like a genuine step forward: more modern, more refined, and more advanced in everyday use. The larger displays, improved sound system, and especially the quiet ride have all made a noticeable difference for both my family and me. Like most new tech, the EX90 has matured through over-the-air updates, and in my experience, it has clearly delivered on the promise of getting better with each release.

I ordered mine right when Volvo announced it and waited and waited and unfortunately for me I didn't cancel and leased one for 3 years that I'm trying desperately to get out of through the lemon law..non stop computer issues especially with safety features. Ride is great but that's about it. Terrible customer service and will never touch a Volvo after what I'm going through and it's my 5th volvo

Interface connectivity does not work

I waited over a year for this car. The software connectivity and interface does not work. I’ve had to service three times in the first two months of owning it and it still does not work. The key card is finicky and take a long time to lock and unlock. The wallet key does not work. I’ve had to do a factory reset over ten times. They replaced a module and it still does not work. The car is now not connecting to the internet. Too many problems for this price point. I drove a Tesla and Audi before. I will never stray again.

Should never have launched.

Launched too early. Software constantly an issue. Volvo corporate keeps dealers in the dark on major software updates, makes them look bad. Weird errors. Chose to probably never launch a feature that was promised (LIDAR), then pull in subsequent models. Huge disappointment. It does get you from here to there, but could have spent less for that.
