2002 Volkswagen Passat Sedan GLS V6 4dr Sedan (2.8L 6cyl 5M)

Review

Car came covered in rail rust, orange
spots dealer then removed by scratching
entire finish. Had broken floor mat
clip and fuse box cover.2 wks later-
radio died. 3 wks to replace. Rotors
were warped-dealer said that can happen
as new cars sit in lot! Tire blew Labor
DAy 2002, to this day dealer has never
called w/tire, tire mfr replaced free
when they heard how badly we were
treated. Car vibrated over 40, dealer
didn't believe us, 3 visits & wasn't
fixed. Dash & roof now alternately hum.
Zero customer service from VW. Sign me

2002 Volkswagen Passat Sedan GLS V6 4dr Sedan (2.8L 6cyl 5M)

Review

Overall I enjoy my Passat GLX 2002 very
much. It is a fun to drive vehicle and
very tight/quiet for a smaller car. I
have had some problems, left turn
signal needed repair, couple of
headlight bulbs replaced, but overall
very satisfied. Enjoy using the
triptronic auto shifter occasionally.
They need to work on improving the gas
mileage considerable for a smaller
vehicle.

Best Features

dashboard is well designed and appealing, heated seats standard, monsoon stereo, overall handling

Worst Features

rear window visibility is poor, gas mileage needs alot of improvement.

2002 Volkswagen Passat Sedan GLX 4Motion AWD 4dr Sedan (2.8L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I've enjoyed the Passat. It handles
really well (4motion) and is very
smooth, quiet, and is overall nice to
drive.
The weight of the car make it feel very
safe and there are no "cheap" parts
that I can imagine breaking. It has a
luxurious feel without the huge price
tag.

Best Features

-Roomy, every has plenty of room in the front and back. -Love the red/neon blue interior dash lights at night. - Cornering and handling

Worst Features

-Radio is a little cumbursome. -I would rather not have daytime running lights. - Because of the 4motion (I was told), starting from stopped is a little jerky. Sometimes it feels like the transmission is not quite right. Again, I was told this is normal on this car though.

2002 Volkswagen Passat Sedan GLS V6 4dr Sedan (2.8L 6cyl 5M)

Review

Excellent overall. Zero trouble since we bought
it 2 years ago. Quiet. Very comfortable on bad
roads -- among 2002's, the only car that
beats it in cities (for less than 30K) is the C-
class Mercedes. Very comfortable on long road
trips: a 4-hour nonstop drive leaves one
without back ache. Best in cities, where the
suspension soaks almost all bumps, and on
highways, where the car is stable and averages
30 mpg at a fast clip. Weakest points? City
mileage (16 to 18 mpg in clogged traffic) and
not really involving to drive on country roads
(better than an S60 but the C-class and 325
are more fun).

Best Features

quietness, trunk size

Worst Features

price service more reasonably

2002 Volkswagen Passat Sedan GLS V6 4dr Sedan (2.8L 6cyl 5M)

Review

43,000 miles in 18 months and not a
single problem. Very comfortable on
long trips, and never had it to the
dealer for anything other than an oil
change.

Best Features

Luxury car with a manual transmission. Stock stereo sounds great

Worst Features

Add a 6 speed manual, CD changer and automatic headlights.
