Used 1996 Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews
Bought from my Lease- BIG MISTAKE
I leased my 96 VW Jetta and then purchased from the lease BIG MISTAKE. I've lost much money between payments and repairs. I've had to replace my O2 sensor, timing belt, full brake job, alternator, battery, coolant system leak you name it all before 75000, then my molding fell off while driving and I almost got into accident with that. My tire rims have chipped paint. Now my check engine light comes on all the time, I just replaced my engine belt and still more problems to date. I like the VW wagons, but I will NEVER EVER buy VW again, the car is not made well at all and very overated.
Good, but
I had my Jetta from May 1996 to February 2004. After the first 3 years, side moldings started to fall off ($$$ to replace at the dealership). So did the replacement ones, and the ones that replaced those. Catalytic converter oxygene sensor failed twice. Very cheap leather inside, wears off quickly. Dailight running lights go through bulbs every 2 years.
