2002 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T 2dr Hatchback (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

German engineering. Luxurious interior,
especially with leather trim.
Controlled ride and comfortable seats
make long-distance driving a pleasure.
Ample power for even the most
performance-oriented driver. Incredible
gains possible with relatively
inexpensive mods. Distinctive styling.
Beautiful indigo instrument
illumination. Availability of Tiptronic
automatic for those who don't like
stick. Many safety features.

Best Features

Incredible value. Everything about the car exudes class, quality and refinement. Basically, you're getting the features, quality, and performance of a $30,000+ European sport sedan for $20K. Fun to drive but practical and comfortable for commuting and long-haul travel.

Worst Features

Cupholders block almost all stereo controls when in use. Maybe premium Monsoon stereo could be a bit better. N.B. If you get the 1.8T, be sure to get the optional 17" alloy wheels (standard on the VR6).
