I have more problems with my Golf than
I could have imagined. In five years,
the exhaust system has failed four
times, the distributor twice, the
radiator once, the wheel bearings
once, the starter once, a crankshaft
bearing seal twice in a month (and now
possibly a third time), and the
cylinder head coolant flange once.
The front wheels tend to become
misaligned very easily, wearing out
tires like it's a Viper at a drag
strip, and the rear wheels are out of
alignment but are apparently not
alignable. The tailgate rusted
quickly, ruining the rear wiper motor
and the plate lights, and the silly
strips on the doors keep falling off.
Fun to drive, though.
The car has no glovebox. It's my
favorite feature because it is an
oddity, and I like oddities.
I bought this Golf with 52k miles in
dec/o2, the car now has 69k miles on it
7months later, no problems @ all, I run
synthetic oil in it...
the car is very reliable... as a

another $10,000 or so, & it's
performance & style will be on par with
