Torque is very much evident from a standstill. The ESP launch was nearly as good as my ESP-off launch, showing some pretty sophisticated tuning. Engine makes a strange, almost inline-5 note at wide-open throttle. Shifts are what I'd call smooth rather than quick. Good quarter-mile speeds of nearly 100 mph.
Plenty of dive, but also plenty of power from the soft pedal. Travel was a bit long for my taste, but there was little fade. Not the brakes of a "sport sedan" but those of a sporty sedan.
On skid pad, the CC displays uncommon (for FWD-based cars) balance and an ability to steer with only the throttle. Absolutely zero correction with the wheel itself. Rather than shuddering/squealing understeer, it merely goes slightly wide of circle. Lifting of the throttle tucks the nose back in neatly and predictably. ESP is not fully off. The exemplary skid pad didn't translate directly into an above-average slalom, where ESP responses subdued a good run. Steering wasn't very talkative or direct. Lazy turn-in and suddenly it felt long and limolike. Good, just not great.
