Sold my car in 9/2018 with 80,000 miles. One of my favorite cars that I’ve owned. @ 80k miles still no troubles. Great little car with an awesome engine. I defiantly recommend the car. 7/6/18. Car has 75,000 and still no problems. Just oil change done. A great little car. 1/5/18. Car has 65,000 miles and still no problems. All I have done is Oil change and new tires. Car is still trouble free. Would I buy the car again? Absolutely. 7/4/17, car has 60,000 miles and still no problem. It's an awesome little car. If I had to do it again, I would buy vw beetle convertible. I'm avg 28mpg. Gas is premium which one should get 28 city 34 highway. Road noise is as good as hard top. It can get pricy once you start adding options. Now at 50,000 miles the car still runs great. No problems so far and still very happy with my choice. Still a great little car.

My wife always wanted a convertible and this was the perfect choice. I convinced her to drive the tdi and she loves it. We do a lot of mixed driving, from sitting in line to pick up the kids(a lot of idle time) to highway trips @ 75mph. I track the mileage on fuelly, and after 6 months and just under 5500 miles, the average is 31.3. I do trips @ 55mph with the cruise set and it's over 50mpg. This thing can move, too. It has a lot of low end torque. The only problem we've had is squeeky brakes. If you are moving slow and ease into the brakes(stop and go) they squeak. VW won't fix it, saying it's normal. No it's not, so we have a battle I guess.

I had no expectations going into the VW dealership. After driving a Mini Cooper S convertible for seven years I didn't think I would be impressed with the new Turbo Beetle convertible. Wow! I was surprised... Great acceleration, incredible comfort for four adults and superb sound was what I needed to move me out of my Mini into a car that could comfortably accommodate my family. My day starts with a big smile getting into my car. Having driven many different convertibles I can say their are none at this price point that offer the level of performance and space found in the new Turbo Beetle. My entire family loves this car!

Bought my 2013, TDI ragtop in April and it is a hoot to drive. The problem is, the service department has it more than I do. Wind noise from top, door dent by dealer, interior lighting issue, passenger window regulator issue, driver's door pinch point issue that required an external body shop to remove and reinstall the door! ~ 5 or 6 trips to service with now over 30 days. I'm contacting a lemon law attorney as it is only 6 months and 7K miles old. While it is fun to drive, the fit and window, seals and electronic controls for same are 3rd. world. Read and study before you buy. Volkswagen not helping me at all while the dealer has done his best.

Engine died 3 times

Engine died 3 times requiring a tow in 3 months. The first was a timing chain at 68000 miles. Volkswagon agreed to pay the cost since there is a class action law suit against them for this issue. Just to take the engine apart was $900. Three weeks later it died again while I am driving due to a fuel injector. I had to pay $1,000. It has been less than a month since the last repair of the fuel injector and tonight it died again and was towed to the dealer. I am so frustrated. I can’t keep this car because I cannot keep having it die on me, but I do love driving it. I will be very sad to get rid of it. I cannot understand how this keeps happening. I take good care of this car and it only has 69,000 miles. BUYER BEWARE.

Cute car, but not the best quality

Bought my VW Convertible new and have owned it a year now. Have had multiple window issues (motors and seals) and also a tire issue (one bad tire). VW needs to install better quality parts that do not break as easily, because going back and forth with the dealer is not only time consuming, but also frustrating for everyone involved. My car originally had Continental tires, which were so so, but one tire was bad and took a while to diagnose through a road force balance. The faulty tire was subsequently replaced, but I recently decided to just buy Michelin's and not have to worry about anymore future problems. Now after multiple balancing and alignments, it drives much better.

So much fun and a great ride. This is our second beetle convertible, and I've decided I want no other car for the rest of my life. We have such a good time in this car. It's great looking and rides beautifully. It holds so much more luggage and gear than it looks like it would. We have a bike rack on the back and travel in it often. Aside from the cost of even the most basic maintenance, I highly recommend it.

It is not a car for everyone. It's a car that the younger generation will fall in love with just like in the 60's. It's is somewhat of a culture in itself. I get more looks from my fellow drivers than most other cars on the road. VW has kept this car true to original design with many creature features that put a smile on your face from the first day you drive the new Beetle. It is priced well with few opitons and many includes. This car was garaged and not driven for the first year and has been garaged since owned.

You'll get a lot of compliments, I.e., your car is adorable, my first car was a beetle, that color (yellow) is amazing, etc. Hard to get into this car...I think it has to do with height of door panel! Fun to drive especially with the top down. My dealer is not so much fun! Terrible service follow-ups. We are trying to decide whether to buy this car or go elsewhere ( better buys)!

I'm the type that usually buys used cars, but with a warranty and from a dealer. Hence, I purchased a 2013 fully loaded beetle convertible 2.0 turbo in January 2018. It was five years old with only 16,000 miles. I paid $16k with a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. The original sticker was $35k. The best way to drive this car is in manual mode. I have an automatic DSG. When it's in drive mode, it feels bogged down. Driving at 35mph, the transmission is already in 5 gear at of 6 gears. In manual mode you can really feel the turbo and it put a grin on your face...Not the same grin as you'd get with a miata, but it's a very satisfying car to drive. I was impressed with this front wheel drive car this winter. In a snow storm is just plowed through my local snowed filled streets with no issues what so ever. The fender stereo sound is bar none the base sound I've heard in a stock radio. I had an error message when opening the convertible top. However it would always open on the second attempt. Since I have the 2 year warranty, VW Kelly of Danvers MA took care of the issue, free of charge. I'm very happy with my purchase and plan to keep the car for at least the next five years. VW's seem not to have the best reliability reputation, but I've not had that experience. I had a 2009 CC that ran flawlessly until I sold it with 100k miles. Never had an issue and always started up. The CC is a great highway cruiser. I had the V6 engine.

So far, our Beetle is a huge hit with our 5 year old twins. They love riding with the top down and being able to see out the windows (with the help of a booster seat). The car handles great, rides great and is fun to drive. My only dis-satisfaction is that the drivers seat doesn't recline. Of course there's not much backseat leg room, but just enough for the young kids. We haven't had it long, but after just a short while, we began to consider buying a newer model with more bells and whistles.

If you stick with the TDI and manual you have a car that'll outlast you. I was honestly worried about the durability of the convertible top but I've had no issues, and the quickness and near silence of the operation is amazing. MPG is by far the greatest thing about the car, cruising down the highway all day at nearly 2,000 rpms while getting 37-52mpgs. You start to feel like you're driving a classic luxury car till you step out.

I have kids of driving age. My insurance agent told me I couldn't get a Mustang convertible. So I wound up with a used TDI convertible which lets my insurance people relax. Insurance costs are great. Love it. Runs well and accelerates great. Have not had a single mechanical problem. Fuel mileage wonderful and people grin.. The quickness of the top going up and down is fun. Good for city driving, though I would probably not choose it to drive cross country. Not terribly practical but if we need to haul stuff we have the wife's VW Routan.
