beautiful but..

2020 Volvo XC60
The XC60 T8 hybrid is a beautiful car. It handled so smoothly in electric mode, but the charge is eaten alive if you live on a hill. You don't get 18 miles per full charge once you head home. In gas mode, there was no magic to the car. Our 10 year old Acura and Toyota trucks had more guts to it. Not sure if the twin engine makes the gas engine side less efficient, but it was … surprisingly noisy and unimpressive. Back to the hill.. downhill, on occasion, the car would lurch when trying to stop, say at a stop sign.. you really had to push hard to come to a halt. One of the Volvo recalls was for the Automatic braking system, but this fix did not address the lurching. We found it very dangerous. Not a car to lend to a friend, not just because of this issue, but because it's so darn complicated. The vehicle handles beautifully (we got it with the added suspension option), and it might be the prettiest car on the road. Looks aren't everything.
