Rav Limited # 3
Vin,02/01/2016
This is my 3rd Rav Limited Hybrid in Pearl. To break up the boredom each had a different interior from tan to gray to now ? Cinnamon (i think that's what they called it. I liked all the Ravs, a 07, a 10 and now a 16 but by far this new one is the best. First interior comfort, seats are WAY better than the SpongeBob square seats on the 10. Wish they had power on passenger seat and ventilated for both but at least they're comfortable and the heat is 2 levels, the 10 was just on or off. Tunes are very good, again much improved from 10. Climate control works great but I found the 07 and 10 worked well. Headlights are powerful and the auto on and auto high beam work well. Ride is nice and steering is light. Quiet in city and on the highway. Safety gadgets all work well but wish radar cruise was full speed. I traded a Nissan Murano and the full speed radar cruise worked excellent even in stop and go traffic. Gas mileage impressive with some trips of 40 mpg routinely. Best 2 trips, city trips with a lot of EV mode was ~50 mpg. One night got off the highway, stopped at grocery store. Trip of about 5 miles from store to home 71 MPG. I guess battery was well charged after the highway trip and the trip home mostly on level terrain. Around view camera excellent, if you ruin your rims it'll be because you're not paying attention. There is one concern, seems like when it's cold out and the engine it not up to operating temp it seems like it's revving at increased RPM presumably to speed the warm up. Problem is that increased RPM SEEMS like it is engaging the transmission a bit and it does make for some unusual vibration. This goes away when the engine is warm. Of course hard to assess RPM as there is no tachometer. As I mentioned I had a new Nissan Murano Platinum which was exceedingly comfortable and although it drove nice I just found it a bit too big for me. Plus always was intrigued by hybrid and with the new Rav could get back to a smaller whip around vehicle and go electric, it's been fun. Lastly would like to test drive a Lexus NX and see what the differences are. Will update as matters present.
