2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder
I honestly don't know if I'll ever find a car this fun again. The joy of popping the top down, hopping on a mountain road, and hugging the curves while listening to some beautiful tunes... It was Love, pure and simple.
There's no space. Do not expect space. Imagine how much space you think it has. Divide that by 4. Maybe that, without a spare. They sacrificed all space to the Fun gods … for this car. That is why this car is what it is. There is no space. If you expect space, you will be sad. If you don't, you will be happy. End of story.
It's not fast in a straight line. Never will be. But if you're ever driving this car in a straight line, you're missing a valuable opportunity to plaster your face entirely into another dimension of smiling. Take the back roads. Take them further until you're on an unknown mountain in another state. This car BEGS to be taken for just one more bend, just one more moment of top-down care-free joyful fun.
Make sure your tires and alignment are in top shape. Research the words "Snap Understeer". You do not want to brake going around a blind curve too quickly with a bald tire. Trust me.
It has been 7 years since I moved across the country and had to let go of my sweetheart. I still wake up thinking about it. What a vehicle. What a way to truly be alive.
