2024 Toyota Grand Highlander
Bought this in July 2023 and started having problems end of September, have been filming most of them on my phone and in the end Toyota denied my case and said “ it’s first generation car if course I should expect bugs and stuff like that”
- the screen goes black- took it the dealership- they couldn’t replicate the issue ( I have at least 3 videos showing it)
-the car touch lock only … works 50-60% of the time. I have a story to back up this issue. Imagine (me) 8 months pregnant woman getting her 1.5 year old toddler out of the car seat and trying to lock the car but the car is glitching( again) and won’t lock. I then put my toddler down and start looking for keys in my pocket so I can lock the car, meanwhile my kiddo already on the road running towards the dog she saw on the other side of the street. TERRIFYING! I payed $50k so this doesn’t happen and expect a brand new vehicle work properly- took it to the dealership- ma’am we can’t duplicate the issue ( I have video evidence from other days doing the same)
- lock your car button on top of the trunk never works - was told I’m standing too close and car sensing me so it can’t lock itself- no matter how far I’m standing this button does not work
- had check engine go on a few times and was sent home due to unable replicate the issue untill one time I drove 45 minutes after pediatrician appointment straight to the dealership with check engine light on. Days later they find out it’s “ just a sensor “ but these sensor are on back order so I have to wait to get one.
- car decided when and why it wants to connect my phone for Apple car play. If it doesn’t want me to play music it won’t automatically connect nor I won’t be able to do it manually ( I have video evidence)- was told it’s just bugs of the first generation car
I feel scammed on buying this car and Toyota ignoring me. I opened case with them in January and was told they will let me know in 30-45 days. Fast forward April came around and the only follow up I got was “ I’m sorry I was out of the office last 2 days” … I mean it’s been 3 months and you told me it will take 30 days?? Then a few days later this same person ( Wendy Lutzow) responds with a letter that denies to help me in any way. Hey Wendy did you even watch any of the hundred videos I sent you?
It sure seems that Toyota is just waiting till I drive 36k+ miles so my warranty expires and they can start charging me thousands of dollars for the issues they refused to address.
The worst purchase ever. Don’t get yourself into this. By any other car
